We hear success stories of players making hundred of thousands, even millions of dollars. But that is not the reality for majority of athletes. Only about 20 NCAAW players have a NIL valuation over 50k. It's still good money either way, but enough to pass up on the WNBA draft and potentially hurt your draft stock.
2024 draft is crowded - The difference between this year draft class and 2024 is astronomical. Unless 10+ players take a 5th year option, many players who are no brainer first round picks won't be next year. Not only will this lower their contracts, it will make it much harder to stay on a roster.

I take my 2yo to this franchised gymnasium type place called MyGym a couple days a week. Its a big carpeted room with ball pits and various colorful obstacles and mats arrayed differently every day where they sing songs in the circle and various physical activities. The music is blaring top 50 x Disney house remix (today was can you feel the love tonight followed by In Da Club (clean) then love shack and then Charlie XCX, all at a volume that makes conversation difficult. not good for developing brains). But the equipment is great, and its a good socialization opportunity.
The staff is mostly what you would expect, fitness oriented and/or little kid obsessed college aged women. There is a very high degree of staff/kid interaction, lots of touching and assisting and helping manipulate their little bodies around the equipment, along with constant enthusiastic, somewhat phony patter shouted to be heard above the music.
There are two men who work there. It is pretty evident neither of them are there as a result of a personal passion for fitness. Both are shlubby and rather slow moving and overall would describe them as “soft”. The “uniform” for the women is either a nice sweat suit or yoga pants. For the fellas, it’s usually basketball shorts and t shirts. I am seeing male nips and dong outlines way too often in this context.
The most difficult part is watching them struggle through puppet shows and nursery rhymes during circle time. There is blushing and embarrassment happening for them, and their voices crack. Im not trying to be mean, im just saying these are not theatre kids who relish the opportunity to nail a tune or project vocally. They are clearly not naturally drawn towards this kind of performance or public self display.
So it begs the question: why are they doing it? If they don’t care about fitness and they don’t seem to enjoy being the center of attention, why do they work there?
One of them has been there since I used to bring my older son, who is now 9, so he’s spent 7 years doing this and still is a bit bashful about it. Hes also balding a bit, which is again not something I’m making fun of but just odd in this context to be saying the word “Yay!” 100 times a day while sporting a receding hairline, with zero irony nor homosexual affect. Is the job market so bad? I cannot imagine the pay is very substantial, given this is a national franchise.
My only conclusion is that this job affords them the rare ability to touch other people’s kids bodies. Am I being unfair? I know this sub will tell me the truth. I think pedo accusations are too numerous nowadays and I am aware I’ve been conditioned to find this sus, but I can’t find any other explanation.
And if it becomes clear to me that it is likely true, whats my next move? Complain to (possibly pedo) management that i dont want chubby boys touching my son but fit boys and women are ok? Start interfering when they are grasping the bare bellies of an upside down child? Leave entirely?
Edit: to clarify my quandary i will paste my response from elsewhere in the thread:
I mean I’m not worried about them molesting, I’m just confused about my role as a father. Im assuming that the degree to which they are doing their jobs, in this case keeping the kids safe and entertained) is equivalent (if not better) than non-pedos. But IF I have GOOD reason eventually (I currently do not) to suspect that this guy is getting some degree of sexual gratification in the course of doing this job, do I just stand by and watch? The staff is mostly what you would expect, fitness oriented and/or little kid obsessed college aged women. There is a very high degree of staff/kid interaction, lots of touching and assisting and helping manipulate their little bodies around the equipment, along with constant enthusiastic, somewhat phony patter shouted to be heard above the music.
There are two men who work there. It is pretty evident neither of them are there as a result of a personal passion for fitness. Both are shlubby and rather slow moving and overall would describe them as “soft”. The “uniform” for the women is either a nice sweat suit or yoga pants. For the fellas, it’s usually basketball shorts and t shirts. I am seeing male nips and dong outlines way too often in this context.
The most difficult part is watching them struggle through puppet shows and nursery rhymes during circle time. There is blushing and embarrassment happening for them, and their voices crack. Im not trying to be mean, im just saying these are not theatre kids who relish the opportunity to nail a tune or project vocally. They are clearly not naturally drawn towards this kind of performance or public self display.
So it begs the question: why are they doing it? If they don’t care about fitness and they don’t seem to enjoy being the center of attention, why do they work there?
One of them has been there since I used to bring my older son, who is now 9, so he’s spent 7 years doing this and still is a bit bashful about it. Hes also balding a bit, which is again not something I’m making fun of but just odd in this context to be saying the word “Yay!” 100 times a day while sporting a receding hairline, with zero irony nor homosexual affect. Is the job market so bad? I cannot imagine the pay is very substantial, given this is a national franchise.
My only conclusion is that this job affords them the rare ability to touch other people’s kids bodies. Am I being unfair? I know this sub will tell me the truth. I think pedo accusations are too numerous nowadays and I am aware I’ve been conditioned to find this sus, but I can’t find any other explanation.
And if it becomes clear to me that it is likely true, whats my next move? Complain to (possibly pedo) management that i dont want chubby boys touching my son but fit boys and women are ok? Start interfering when they are grasping the bare bellies of an upside down child? Leave entirely?

Im assuming that the degree to which they are doing their jobs, in this case keeping the kids safe and entertained) is equivalent (if not better) than non-pedos. But IF I have GOOD reason eventually (I currently do not) to suspect that this guy is getting some degree of sexual gratification in the course of doing this job, do I just stand by and watch?
