2023.04.01 07:39 Olbemis Tonight’s gaming session went well but was a roller coaster of emotion.
Night started with spawning in fully kitted out. M4 w all the bells and whistles. Including tier 4 body armor with three drum mags. A G4 back pack. 911 with a suppressor and laser. Ready to gooooo. Spawned in to a naked build with an sks and his barrel in my face. Dead. Spawned in naked next three games. Dead. One or two dudes lighting me up before I can even move. Took a break and got some food. Went back in light build. Was able to move around, no others at spawn, sks with drum mag just disappeared! Lol okay I’ll try to loot and get out. Fully decked out chad wastes me. Fuck. That’s it wipe is in like a week I’m going all out. Got the boss sks, loaded up some extra mags. Got tier 4 helm and body armor. Spawned alone. Tore through the map killing everyone. Found the key card. Looted the fuck out of the keycard room. Gpu, Barrett, pssh, whole bunch of decent mags to sell. Exfill no problem. Made all that money back. Next 4 raid went well, not as great loot but 2 out of 4 were sks boss spawns. Melted em. Last game spawned in and my M4 disappeared!!!! Called it a night. When this game is working well, it is the most fun I have had in awhile. Excited to see the end results. Devs if you read this, y’all are killing it. Keep up the good work. Can’t wait for the patches though.

Everything For Jackson (2016) - I heard good things about it on the sub and it really did turn out to be good. A cool story idea done well, it's original which is nice. Definitely worth watching. I have some questions about the movie, especially the ending, but all in all I really liked it. (7/10)
We Go On (2016) - another very decent movie. It has a bit of a goofy feel to it at first, but the protagonist really grew on me after a while, especially because I find him extremely relatable with his fear of death. Eventually it doesn't really say anything too deep about the topic but it gives you a sold ghost story. Maybe it's not a fantastic movie but it has something. (6.5/10)
I See You (2019) - This is like an average Law & Order SVU ep turned into a movie when it comes to the quality of the story. There's no real plothole, there are twists and it's all fine, but you also don't get that immersed into the characters to feel the stakes or have some strong opinion about who is capable of what - you accept the plot cause the movie tells you so. A much better movie on this similar topic is The Treatment (2014). But this is a good easy watch when you don't feel like anything too heavy and need an easy to follow crime story with twists to keep you engaged. You'll enjoy the watch and never think of it later. (5.5/10)
13 Sins (2014) - It's a fun movie, an ok concept but the story becomes too absurd towards the end, I don't think it made sense that they involved both his brother and father, why such focus on that family? It ends as if there's a happy ending but such a powerful organization will easily fuck him up or kill him now. I think I just don't like the whole part where this organization is some top 1% who control everything and do this for entertainment, just seems so stupid. It would have been better if they were not made to sound so omnipotent or were even just one psycho with a good incentive. So overall it's fun to watch for a bit but the story is weak the moment you think about it. But it's forgettable so you won't overthink it (5/10)
Martha Marcy May Marlene (2011) - another thriller, this one is about a girl who escaped a cult and then goes to live with her sister and her husband. It got me interested for a while but then I feel like there was no payoff and at one point you just stop learning more about the story. It suggested some potentially interesting plotlines that didn't get developed, so it's a bit of a letdown. Sets the stage well but then doesn't do anything with it. Not bad though (6/10)
Suspiria (2018) - I'm glad I saw it, I didn't want to at first. It's very different than Argento's movie, IMO it shouldn't have called itself Suspiria but just do their own story and call it a homage. Doesn't matter though, the movie is not bad but it's way too long. The Olga dance was cool. The overall story is whatever, basically Suspiria if you try to make it make sense (this doesn't contradict my previous point that it's a totally different movie, since in the original the story was completely irrelevant... this one approached it by taking that story and trying to make it into something). It's a good movie, looks good, drags a bit in some parts, but in the end it didn't get me to think about it too much after watching. I can easily see why someone would love it though (7.5/10)
Creep 2 (2017) - not as good as the original but it's not shit. It feels gimmicky with the whole "let me rationally talk about being a serial killer" documentary style, but the performance is good. Sara isn't an annoying character. I didn't fully love the ending, I think it should have ended with him killing her and feeling happy he got his motivation back, because that's the point. I liked the moment he did stab her and then say he won't be dying that night after all, so that was good in terms of his character intent, but imo it didn't need to drag on so much from him wanting to kill both of them to chasing her, he should have just killed her quickly, just like that, like she's nothing. That would be effective. I don't think it made much sense for her to make it out alive (and so she didn't even call the cops after and just went home with multiple stab wounds lol?) Instead of that ending that suggests he's still alive it would have been much better if he just killed her there. (6/10)
House Of Nine (2004) - a shit movie but it's that concept of a bunch of people trapped in one place which I like. It's kind of fun to watch the careful cop easily let everyone get drunk, the characters are pretty bad. There's no deeper twist or mystery to figure out. One of the weaker ones of the genre but sufficiently entertaining if you like that type of movies. I was expecting Dennis Hooper to at least not be what he seems but everyone was exactly as they seemed. It doesn't try too hard (4/10)

- What has more effect - hide or subspieces choice? or is it the same? for example: speed sub (+speed,-defence) with thick hide (+defence,-speed) is the same as balanced with regular hide? or speed sub (+speed,-defence) with thick hide (+defence,-speed) and defence sub (-speed,+defence) with thin hide (+speed,-defence) - who's fastehas more armor? If there's a difference, then does anybody knows the numbers? or maybe percentage?
- What exactly the difference between bite on the head/body/tail? let's say 2 concs, same subs, same hides - conc's bite is 60 dmg, I'm assuming it is dmg on the body. But what's the damage of this bite on a head or a tail?
- Anybody knows the formula to calculate dmg with combat weight of 2 dinos?
- Anybody knows the difference in stats between juve/adol/sub/adult stages? I mean new stages with 0 bars

I took a break from my clan/friend group on Destiny 2 to play Resident Evil 4 remake. While I was gone & enjoying RE4R they would invite me to a party, ask how I liked the game but as soon as I began talking i was ignored or they talked over me.
I've been friends with these guys for 10+ years & I'm honestly used to never being heard. Usually I'll just mute my mic & listen to them talk or if we're in a raid i only do call outs. But now after my ex & I broke up & he's been hanging out with my friends (ppl he would constantly say he hates) I've noticed a few things with my frie d group & I decided to take steps to distance myself from them.
Now that I have thanks to RE4R, I've realized just how little they care when it comes to things when I say it. So I let them know that I'm taking a break from them either permanently or temporary. All I got was "Cool, so anyway...."
Time to make new friends. They can keep my ex & he can keep them. Honestly feels like a weight off my shoulders.

Can anyone recommend any games sort of like the “Destiny 2 style” or something along those lines where you can grind for stuff and que with / work alongside randoms if you like.
I’ve played and really liked deep rock galactic, and I played ESO when it first came out and wasn’t the biggest fan at the time.

Current meds: 1mg tacrolimus 2x/day, 300mg gabapentin 2-3x/day, vitamin D, B1
I really hope this is the right place. I am not sure this post is even worth anyone's time but if anyone feels like chiming in, I would appreciate it! I will just start with a timeline to try to make this more straightforward. It's going to be a novel. Sorry.
In late 2018 I noticed a "hump" on my back. When I saw my [then] primary doc, she wanted to have me tested for Cushing's. I am not obese and never have been but I've had a variety of the symptoms including striae that turn purple (they brighten up and then fade), a sudden onset of anxiety, etc.
She ordered the dex test and an MRI (see below in my reply). I did NOT suppress on the dex test (my result was 2.0) and she referred me to an endocrinologist. Unfortunately, she ordered a T1 MRI without contrast. I admittedly know nothing about MRIs but in the notes on my results, the radiologist mentioned a lack of contrast and that they could not rule out a microadenoma.
Around this time, I moved. I did see an endocrinologist but because I am not obese, she did not feel Cushing's was an appropriate diagnosis. Also around this time, I was battling a newfound case of alcoholism. I began to figure that I might have Cushing's syndrome (vs. disease) from drinking too much.
I soon found out between alpha-1 and alcoholic hepatitis, I had destroyed my liver and needed a liver transplant. When I fuck up, I fuck up spectacularly so... yeah. Long story short, I did every form of treatment you can think of and was listed at three months sober. (Thank you, progressive transplant centers!) My MELD was 40 so the transplant happened quickly... and I am doing great now.
After everything, I still had the hump. Obviously it wasn't from alcoholism because I have been sober 18 months and theoretically, it should have gone away. It was 20cm when a general surgeon finally removed it. In his notes he described it as a "buffalo hump" and said it was not like a normal lipoma because it didn't have a sac (sack?). He called me that evening and asked if I had ever heard of Cushing's... I said why yes, yes I have. He basically told me I might wanna get it checked out so here I am, waiting on my appointment at the end of the month. I was finally able to get off of prednisone post transplant and I can now test for Cushing's again with urine, saliva, and blood. I am hoping they order another MRI but in the mean time, I'm curious about these old images from 2021.
I am so sorry this got so long. I should have just made a post asking if anyone sees anything. Thank you SO MUCH for any replies... I really appreciate it.

I am purchasing a new (to me) vehicle and am hoping for some opinions! This will be my first Subaru and I’m pretty excited but don’t know much about the difference. I have 2 options with a possible 3rd.
1) 2019 2.0i Crosstrek Limited, Cool gray khaki color, 42,000 miles.
2) 2017 2.5i Outback Limited, White, 57,000 miles
3) 2018 2.5i Outback Touring, white, 71,000 miles (miles are a little high for my liking)
Prices are all very similar. 1 and 3 are only $1k apart. #2 is actually $2-3k less, but the payment would be about the same for 12 less months. #1 also comes with dealer certification and warranty.
I have driven a large range of vehicles sizing from an Elantra to a Prius to a CRV or brand new Santa Fe. Size isn’t really a huge sway. I have 2 big dogs that need to fit in the back and all of these options would accommodate them.
I like good mileage. I like features. A big reason I like the crosstrek over the 2017 outback is apple CarPlay and and other convenience features like parking sensors. It’s possible the 2017 does not have adaptive cruise. That’s a big deal as I go on a lot of road trips.
Ultimately, I want a reliable car that I will enjoy and be comfortable driving for a long time. What would you suggest?

allow me to preface this by saying that i was never expecting the mandalorian to have the same quality of writing or the same exact approach to tone as andor. it isn't exactly a very balanced expectation to have and the genre variety in star wars as a whole is incredibly healthy. no, my complaints aren't about the dialogue (though some of that could definitely be improved) or the acting (though, again, some of that could've been a lot better this season, especially).
where andor has ruined star wars for me has everything to do with direction.
MANDALORIAN SEASON 3 SPOILERS, BTW.
andor has some of the strongest tv directing i've seen in years. the visual elements in every scene and sequence are very clearly communicated to the viewer. individual story beats are paced incredibly well and done with a very clear understanding of escalation. camera movements and angles all feel very precise and motivated by what the directors of each episode wanted to communicate with their shots. in a show that's already packed to the brim with so many strengths, i feel like the quality of directing is genuinely towards the top of the list. the directing team that tony gilroy put together for the show did an impeccable job and deserve all the praise being heaped on them constantly.
the action in the show has also been fantastic (and, in a way, underrated for how well it's directed, seeing that most of the show's praise is rightfully also directed at its writing). hits feel properly weighty and carry with them a lot of visual punch. blasters feel genuinely deadly and i don't think i've ever gulped more seeing one of those things being pointed at someone. all of these add to the already excellent sense of tension exhibited by the show's directors in virtually every scene. every single flash of action from the warehouse firefight to the heist escape to the prison break to the riot sequence has felt so incredibly thrilling and engaging that i'm always down to go back and rewatch them.
so what does this have to do with mando??
i don't know what changed exactly in between the butcher house sequence in the book of boba fett and the most recent episodes, but something has definitely felt lacking in season 3, as far as directing is concerned. i've enjoyed some of the episodes a fair bit (episode 3 was probably my favorite), but a lot of the time, many of them have started to feel as though they were rushing to get to where favreau and filoni need everything to be. it's as though quite a few of these episodes were written with the ending first before having the rest of the story built around it, and this extends to some of the scenes as well.
in episode 1, for instance, we have a space dogfight that goes by way too quickly. we see mando get in his ship, be pursued for a little bit by these pirates, and then he outmaneuvers them and blasts them all out of the sky in quick succession. no tension, just mando doing awesome things, which is fine, i guess, but as a whole that action sequence just felt so... hollow. individual moments are hardly given room to breathe and these small actions pass by so quickly that they don't even get time to register completely.
contrast this with luthen escaping from the arrestor cruiser. we know he's gonna escape because we saw that in the trailers, but that doesn't mean the scene still can't have tension. it sets up the situation, gives room for the engagement to boil before ending in a satisfying pay-off that also communicates something about luthen's character and personality. that's good directing.
although where i think the mandalorian (and to an extent, other live-action sw shows but that's another topic) have especially fallen flat recently are the scenes involving action between the actual costumed characters. the battle sequence in episode 5 is divided into two distinct parts: the dogfight and the urban combat. the dogfight was pretty good this time around, but the on-the-ground fighting felt very inconsistent in a lot of places. there's more mandos-doing-badass-things (which, again, fine), and some of them do get shot, but so few of these hits felt as though there was any weight to them. the way some of these blaster bolts just gently singe someone makes them seem like peashooters or waterguns. i was hoping for a little more oomph in each bit of contact — you know, make these weapons feel dangerous; make us afraid for these mandos after having them be all hyped up by a speech.
to me the funniest offender of this has to be the armorer's little moment to shine. there's a bit in the episode where the armor shows up in this room to take out some goons by way of dual-wielded hammers and... honestly this got a giggle out of me, partly because i was sorta hyped, but also because i thought it was a little silly. again, hardly any of these hits feel as though there's any weight being thrown behind them and this leads to a combat scene feeling more like play than anything else. on top of that, a lot of the shots in these combat sequences also go by a little too quickly or linger just a bit longer than should be comfortable. the show could be and has been so much better than this in the past.
granted, mando has its fair share of misses and dud episodes in the past, but at the very least, it was consistently engaging more often than not.
and when you compare some of these action sequences to those in andor, there's already a world of difference, especially when action has never been one of andor's key selling points.
and it isn't as though violence is out of the question for the mandalorian, and neither am i saying that i want mando to start ripping dudes in half the way people on the main star wars sub say they want an r-rated darth vader movie. all i'm saying is that i want the action and directing to be a whole lot better, because the mandalorian has had great action and directing before. i don't even have to think back very far — i just have to look back at episode 1 of season 2.
there are very good directors in the mandalorian season 3, and i have nothing but respect for them and their craft, but i think the biggest difference between andor and season 3 of the mandalorian is that andor has, to use a common internet parlance, let its directors cook. a lot of these recent mando episodes have felt very basic in the directing department, almost as though they were committee-mandated, and that makes me sad because star wars shows have been and can be so much better — these shows can be well-directed. if there's one way in which andor has really ruined star wars for me is by showing me what great direction can do for a show.

and it isn't as though violence is out of the question for the mandalorian, and neither am i saying that i want mando to start ripping dudes in half the way people on the main star wars sub say they want an r-rated darth vader movie. all i'm saying is that i want the action and directing to be a whole lot better, because the mandalorian has had great action and directing before. i don't even have to think back very far — i just have to look back at episode 1 of season 2.
there are very good directors in the mandalorian season 3, and i have nothing but respect for them and their craft, but i think the biggest difference between andor and season 3 of the mandalorian is that andor has, to use a common internet parlance, let its directors cook. a lot of these recent mando episodes have felt very basic in the directing department, almost as though they were committee-mandated, and that makes me sad because star wars shows have been and can be so much better — these shows can be well-directed. if there's one way in which andor has really ruined star wars for me is by showing me what great direction can do for a show.

Hello! I would appreciate if someone could help me out with an issue i have playing destiny 2 on PC. Atleast once a day no matter what my activity my screen will freeze, but i can still move and hear if i shoot, the game will not unfreeze from the frame it froze on, and somewhere around 10 seconds after i close the game, I will get a Reference By Pointer BSOD.
I am running a Ryzen 5 2600 16gb of ram Rx 580 (driver version 23.3.2)
I have tried a windows memory test and it came back with no errors, and have done sfc /scannow and nothing was wrong. This only happens on Destiny 2. Thank you in advance!
edit: I forgot to mention, I have also verified game files on steam to no avail.
