I myself, having an alleged mood condition, sometimes refer to myself as a "maniac" (but only ipso facto), and, if my relevant companions are okay with it, I refer to them likewise, the better to create the conditions for sharing a chuckle about the sordid facts of enthusiasm run amok.
What do you think of my language habit? It is not only my own habit, but I am uncertain whether it is shared widely enough by the psychiatrically disaffected, or at least a nontrivial proportion of the members of this subreddit, for it to be appropriate for me to indulge the habit here. Nonetheless, insofar as I seek to post here in the forseeable future, I am curious how some of my franker language habits concerning mental health conditions would be received by those who take their diagnoses seriously.
I confess to you my quiet enjoyment, rarely shared enjoyment, of those self-understandings and self-appropriations which emphasize the funny (hence fun) aspects of being a seidways omphalskepsian, i.e. any richly adaptive entity/structure subject to the usual conditions of locatedness, temporality, abstractioneering, bandwagoneering, and historicity (ugh). Not everyone who has been given the corresponding formal diagnoses will accept these more vulgar terms for themselves, insofar as vulgarity tends to seem belittling or prejudicial. I don't see my uses that way, nor the uses of my relevant companions, but then my standards for freer speech tend to be ill-suited to the company of those who pretend to be genteel. My standards for freer speech are far more appropriate on a construction site, or at a gathering of drunk neerdowells who like to mosh to loud angry music which best captures the spirit of the times. I don't want to risk the goats getting caught but different goat breeds have different sized heads and I have a hard time trying to find specific suggestions for african pygmies.

My mother gained inheritance money from my grandfather and offered to help me with any finances. I never needed the help and actually felt bad accepting it knowing she prob needed it more than me. She was practically harassing me about it so I finally allowed her to send me 17k which she wrote on check with nothing on the “for” line written down just our names. I saved this money , however I did mention that I was nearly done paying off my car and how much I pay for my condo during a convo w her. (quick back story- we always had a rocky relationship) over the course of a year I’ve been sending her money here n there because she’d ask for help after spending on god knows what, and I thought why not since she gave me some of grandads money and I work a great job. She slowly then began tying that to say that I owe her money because she claims she sent me the money as a “loan” for my condo and car. She threatened suing so my dad tried talking to her against my wishes to arrange that he’ll just reimburse her. To avoid court obviously. We went to online court and the judge ruled in her favor because her husband got on as a witness and lied for her saying he heard our phone convo where I asked for the money because I can’t pay for my bills and that my dad also called her admitting to reimbursing her so obviously I owed her money. That completely screwed me. Judge instantly changed after that and didn’t even hear rest of my side!!it was ridiculous. I think I messed up badly by forgetting to mention more than once that it was inheritance money as he latched onto the idea that we have a rocky relationship and why would I send her money for no reason as she claims.. plus her husbands lies and my dads good intention f,&3d me over.It was ridiculous so I scheduled for a new trial and this time I’m thinking of using my gf as a witness. I’m thinking I should be fine because I never asked her for money, the check has nothing of a loan on it, there was never an exchange of texts email or call about this money being a loan, and I didn’t even need the money to begin with but just accepted it because that was from my grandfather basically. Hello whoever might read this I am in need of advice for my older brother (I am still a teenager). I also would like to apologize in advance for how all over the place this is. I want to try to describe him so someone his age can give an opinion on this. He is about to hit 30 and he is in college about to finish up his first degree considering he started college very late due to poor decision (I don’t blame him). He recently lost his mom last year and his mental health has just seemed to decline since then. He stopped attending classes here and there and he used to bawl his eyes out. Which is weird since he never cries or anything like that. I like to call him a self proclaimed emo. Since the start of the new year he seemed to get better and started going back to classes. Earlier today he told me about how he had started cutting himself. We both agreed that it was pointless to do and to not do it again. He tells me how he’s losing motivation and he wants to quit college altogether. I asked him if he is in any clubs but as I assumed he is not (he is introverted and doesn’t like to interact with people same as I). I want to find out how he can make friends or interact with people so he doesn’t end up doing anything drastic. It frustrates me because I can’t find anything where he can just interact with people his age like I can simply because he’s too old. I also know he wouldn’t find tinder entertaining. I guess what I’m trying to say is where can he find online friends?

So for a lot of years because of my abuse, I had stolen things, not that I want to brag about doing this. I used to do this in my past and it was my escape from the abuse. So fast forward to this year, I was waiting for the bus, and there was a lady whom had a lot of money on her, she had her purse unzipped, and you could see her cash in her billfold and I’m not going to lie the thought did cross my mind of taking her money but I reminded myself of how far I have come from being sober free of drugs, alcohol and pills. I also reminded myself that I didn’t need to steal her money. I used to steal because most times when I did I was high as a kite to escape the nightmares and the abuse. Just like when the park I walk at, one of my old buddies whom I did drugs with was there, he had tried to offer me drugs. You know I turned him down and I threw his drugs that he offered me in the trash. He said you miss this don’t you and my response was I miss food more than I do this. You just threw a lot of money in the trash and I said I don’t care because I’m not into doing that anymore. Anyways my point being here is just because I am struggling, doesn’t mean that I have to do those things that I used to do. I now do healthy things like coloring, listen to music, read, journaling, walk, eat healthy, use my solar lights that turn different colors, watch movies/tv shows, go to counseling, go out to lunch with friends. I am going to say that it took me a really long time for me to register that I didn’t have to do those bad things in my life until I met my friend she brings me back to the realm and gives me so much encouragement and going to counseling to just talk about things that I went through for over 20 + years. I’m not going to say that life is a cakewalk because it surely is not but we can all pat ourselves on the back for how far we have come from even if it is very slow steps. Just remind yourself that you got this and it’s okay if it is a challenge because the hard days are an encouragement to get us through the motivating days.

Hey guys, I’m thinking about setting up a YouTube channel where the premise is that we put computers in to the hands of people that need them. My vision is that there are underprivileged children and young adults who can not get their hands on their own computers.
I imagine the most useful type of device would be laptops, but as this wouldn’t always make great YouTube content I’m thinking of doing raffles on more luxurious computer builds and using the profits to fund the purchase and distribution of more devices to the people that need them.
The channel would serve three purposes, fundraising and part donation, builds based on the parts we get our hands on, and tutorial videos (hopefully good for SEO)
Can anyone see any blaring objections to a setup like this? I’m thinking the money raised through advertising will be kept and used internally, but all donations and partnered sponsorship deals would be put in to putting computers in to the hands of people that need them. I wouldn’t like to ever profit off the stories of people that receive donations, that wouldn’t be the objective at all.
