2023.03.25 18:58 Gaz-rick [Spoilers] Arks of Omen 4
Just listened to a video on Arks of Omen - Farsight by Arbitrator Ian and there's a few things worth noting -
- Nazdreg is a pest, still making his crazy tech. He gets pushed back by Farsight and the 8. He escapes alive as they destroy the engines of his teleporting Battlefortress and it disappears into the warp.
- Nazdreg is removed from the board seemingly around the middle of the book.
- With Nazdreg gone the Orks do the classic fall into disarray but a Weirdboy seems to take lead. Unfortunately Chaos Marines arrive and it feels like the classic bait and switch with Orks now being no real threat/a set up for the arrival of Chaos Marines.
- Farsight, in desperation decides to play the Orks off against Chaos. 3 way carnage ensues on a planet that is effectively dead (something Moloch - Farsight got his sword from there) and has a Daemon summoning device on it. Farsight loses 2 of the 8 commanders (I don't know who kills them). Farsight begs the Tau empire to come help, saying he'll accept punishment and all that, they arrive but don't really help.
- Totally desperate Farsight tries to lead the Orks and Chaos Marines to some special place that allows daemons entry into realspace. Obviously he doesn't know that they're daemons like we do. The idea is to leave and have the daemons kill the Orks and Chaos Marines (guess he doesn't realise they're allied).
- Farsight and the survivors escape but here's where it gets funky. The Ork Weirdboy sends a "colossal wave of green energy" that destroys the daemons, Chaos Marines and the summoning thingy. The the Orks chase after the remaining warbands of Chaos Marines as they flee and leave the planet and FSE alone to lick their wounds. The Tau go back to the planet and it has started to grow life where previously it was completely barren.
Now I'm assuming this summary video is correct. Am I right in thinking that
not only did Orks win (though Chaos Marines managed to get their key fragment or whatever they were after so I guess there's that), but
did we also save the Tau AND healed a planet?! Are Orks straight up the good guys?!

LINUX: MY THOUGHTS WITH LOGIC & RATIONALE Emotional Free Zone
I share the thoughts and stance of many older Linux Users that the myriad of Linux ProgrammeCoders today have made Linux so convoluted and complex that it's not fun anymore. The many Social Media Platforms (Twitter...etc) don't even have an App yet on Linux. Linux Users have to deal with crudely made apps that either don't work or half work at best. Even the Sound Program hasn't even updated to allow for Dolby Surround or at best Dolby Atmos. Pulse Audio needs simplification. Heck, we don't even have a simple Equalizer to work with. There are some that would scoff at the idea of Users being critical of Linux functionality. Right now, I'm having to use Windows because of the fact that after a certain period of time Linux has the potentiality of becoming either corrupted or certain websites, apps, and other programs no longer function properly due to the on-going updates required for those previously mentioned to function. When you have to wait months for an update to hit the Repository, it's too late those things mentioned have a time limit of when they will not function at all. Windows and Linux are almost the same in when it comes to getting reliable updates. Lets take Telegram; Linux, Windows, Apple Mac/iOS, and Android all have issues arises. The one thin Linux lacks the most is the performance of making a Desktop Shortcut that actually works from a website. The current method is hideous. The app doesn't work at creating one for all sites and only uses Firefox. Linux also prohibits Brave, Opera, and others from making Browser Shortcuts. Instead of working on Trinket Apps, the Linux community of ProgrammeCoders need to work on the Basics and Functionality. We need no more Forks of Linux because that put strain on functionality across the board. One does this way while the other doesn't is a headache. I wish there was a better reporting system that would have Metadata, Screenshots, Screen Recording and a Text box for thoroughly reporting issues with anything Linux. The current forums that do not have immediate responses make Linux look bad when it comes to Community Response aka PR. I would suggest to Linux Telegram's Reporting System. Also a STAR RATING system as well so that developers can know if their stuff is Great or Sucks. All OS Operating Systems need this in the worst of ways. The Linux Community need not be so emotional about defend anything as well. That's a huge issue.
If it's great don't fix it, if it sucks work on it. WOKE-ISM NEEDS TO EXIT THE ENTIRE LINUX COMMUNITY.
P.S. Even Android & MAC/iOS are have very similar issues and problems as Linux does OS-Distribution wide. So, no need to get all emotional about defending anything.

2023.03.25 18:55 iamtim25 40 [M4F] Texas/Anywhere -đș Cat Dad Seeks Warm and Intelligent Rare PokĂ©mon to Cherish đș
"Love no one until you can love yourself, for love of another is merely empty flattery and self-deception for one who cannot accept himself without pretense."
My name is Tim. I am 6'1" and I am 40. I grew up in Louisiana and I have lived in a few different areas of the US. I currently live in Texas, though I am looking forward to possibly moving someplace new sometime in the future. I studied philosophy in school and have spent much of my life both thinking and writing about love. I am looking for a LTR. I am open to a LDR for the right person.
You will see that I have chosen to use a list format below. This is because I find it helps me think through things a little easier. It also helps me ensure that I have not missed a detail that I intended to include. I know that listing facts about oneself in this way can take away from mystery of getting to know someone, but I assure you I am a very complex man and no mere list would ever be able to rob someone of the fun of getting to know every aspect of my personality.
Facts About Me: - My taste is music is always evolving. I love being exposed to new sounds. Three consistent favorites of mine are Peter Gabriel, Haeven and Silversun Pickups. Ben Howard is the most recent artist that I have started listening to.
- I love Halloween! What makes it interesting to me is all of the lore and mythology it can incorporate.
- My favorite color is purple. I used to think it was blue, but I realized at some point I was sort of indoctrinated into that way of thinking. haha I dug into myself more and realized that I was drawn to purple more than any other color, especially a very deep purple.
- I am an INFJ. My enneagram is a 6. I know this is pseudoscience so it may be easy to dismiss, but I still think it's a worthwhile conversation topic.
- My love languages are words of affirmation and quality time. I think touch could be one as well, but it takes a while for me to build that kind of trust for someone.
- I like experiencing new places. I have not made travel a priority in my life, but I've always enjoyed it when I did it. I hope to be able to do it more.
- I adore being exposed to history and creative expression in any form. I love going to art galleries, museums and performing arts productions. I am constantly trying to work on myself and I find that witnessing a person's history or expression helps me open up avenues I can use to explore myself.
- I am a cat dad. My cat, Aries, is very important to me. He is basically my familiar.
- I like to stay active. Sometimes it can be a challenge because life tends to throw some curve balls that make taking time for the gym seem unimportant, but I try to make it a priority.
My Red Flags: - I come from an estranged family. :( This is quite upsetting to me because I love the idea of a big family so much, but it just hasn't worked out for me. At this point my parents and one of my sisters have all passed away and I no longer communicate with my two livings sisters. I hope that can change someday.
- I am still friends with my ex-wife. I've been divorced for a few years, but it wasn't an angry type of divorce. We decided we should move on from each other romantically and we broke up amicably. I've had a hard time finding someone who can understand that it's possible to be friends with someone you used to be intimate with. But I assure you, it is possible. Keep in mind that I don't have a family in my life. Because of this, throwing away a connection is not worth it to me unless it is toxic.
- I am messy. I try not to be, but I have a hard time doing certain kinds of tasks because I am always in my head in some way, shape of form. I do get around to doing things eventually. It helps when I am doing it with someone else, so I don't get bored.
- I feel things very strongly. I work on dealing with my emotions every single day. I use lots of coping methods to ensure I don't get overwhelmed. I think this is a side effect of my best qualities, so it cannot really go away. But it is frustrating for me, so I wanted to list it as a red flag.
- I AM NOT HOT! I look kind. I have blue eyes that have wrinkles around them because I have spent so much time smiling in my life. My face is warm. You can tell that I think about things. My beard is multicolored like a calico cat. My body is hairy and pretty burly. I look like some kind of mix between Santa Claus and Baymax from Big Hero 6.
My Positive Traits: - I am interested. I love to hear about what you love. I like to try the things that you like. I'll drop whatever I am listening to just to hear a song that you think is great. I genuinely want to know anything I can about you.
- I am a critical thinker, but also very caring and tolerant. This enables me to be able to converse about pretty much any topic with someone. In a perfect situation they are also able to be intellectually vulnerable enough to consider other perspectives.
- I am very passionate about both people and animals.
- I have a soft heart.
- Being nurturing, supportive and affectionate are my greatest strengths.
- I am kink friendly, but not kink obsessed. This means that while kinky sex is really fun, I am just as comfortable if our relationship is more Vanilla or if changes back and forth over time. In my opinion this makes me much more stable than those that have a preference for one over the other.
- What I love most in life is learning more about people because they teach me more about myself. I try to grow into a better person every day and I believe that being receptive to other people's ideas is a big part of how that happens.
What I am looking for: - An adult woman of any age who is intuitive, communicative, intellectual and witty. I love communicating with someone that has mental agility.
- A gentle empath who is insightful.
- I want a deep emotional connection.
- Someone who is capable of appreciating me. I need someone who is warm, nurturing and emotionally intelligent.
- I want to be loved just as much as I love. I've found that I generally put a lot more time into a relationship than my partner and I am tired of it. I cannot do that anymore.
- It's important that my partner is someone who can give me the benefit of the doubt. This applies to many situations, but I feel like it's important to remember what you know of someone before you jump to a negative conclusion about them.
- Someone who will love my pets.
- Someone who is understanding that I am a bit of a nerd. I like board games, stuffed animals and most things that geeks like. I play online video games with my friends at least once a week.
If this long list resonates with you, please send me a message telling me about yourself. Also, what did you like about my post? And finally, what is your favorite Disney movie and why?
My cat Aries says, "I approve this message." submitted by

2023.03.25 18:50 Interesting-Bee-7598 Where can I find my lifetime job online?
It's important to note that there is no such thing as a "lifetime job" in today's job market, as industries and technologies are constantly evolving. However, here are some steps you can take to find a job that aligns with your career goals and provides long-term growth opportunities:
- Self-assessment: Take the time to assess your strengths, interests, and values. Consider what kind of work you enjoy doing and what type of work environment you thrive in.
- Research: Look into different industries and companies that align with your career goals and values. Research job trends, required skills, and growth opportunities within those industries.
- Network: Build relationships with people in your desired industry through online networking platforms like LinkedIn, attending industry events, and reaching out to professionals for informational interviews.
- Education and Training: Consider furthering your education or training in a specific area of interest. Online courses, certificates, and degrees can provide the necessary skills and knowledge for a specific industry.
- Job Search: Once you have a clear idea of your career goals and skills, start searching for jobs online. Look for job postings on job boards like Indeed, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and other industry-specific job boards.
- Company culture: When searching for jobs, consider the company culture and values. Research company reviews, benefits, and employee satisfaction ratings to ensure a good fit.
Remember,
finding a job is a process that takes time and effort. Be patient and persistent in your job search, and don't be afraid to try new things and explore different career paths.

2023.03.25 18:45 FiauraTanks Nemo Me Impune Lacessit (FanFic) - Ch. 5
Back First Next
This one is going to be a bit longer because a PM To me suggested I go ahead and do a long Chapter.
I hope you still enjoy. The final piece will be released tomorrow.
Memory Transcription: Captain Neil Campbell, United Nations âBlack Watchâ Company #4 Date [standardized human time]: December 3, 2136 The company had four mortars, four American M2 heavy machine guns, twelve lighter man-portable machine guns, eight light close in AA guns of 40mm twin, every trooper had a stringer mark 7 light anti-air missile, they had four longer range SAM units, eight orbital interceptors dialed into one computer, and two anti-ship missile launchers. Right at that moment, every single weapon they had was singing a song of death.
The Cheetah would silence the battlefield every time its main railgun fired a slug. Meanwhile the two Eisenhowerâs autocannons rained down death upon the Arxur. While the standard rifles, pistols, or light SAW weapons would not necessarily take out a Arxur with non-vital hit; the heavy machine guns the Americans provided did.
The Radios crackled with commands going in all sorts of directions.
"All units, gunship coming through at..." Zim hesitated as he figured the direction and coordinates given by the radar operator moments ago. "7 O'Clock, will crest hill in 1 minute thirty, four man-portables dial in."
"Dial 1." Two seconds later all at once, "Dial 2." from 3 people who quickly corrected to dials 2, 3, and 4. Zim nodded, "Confirmed 4 dials."
"Forty seconds to crest." Called back the radar operator.
Campbell made note of how well Zim was handling their current position despite being a civilian. He had deducted correctly that Zim being Mayor would make them very proficient at communication and coordination, as well as delegation. What Zim had just done in thirty seconds was identify a unassigned gunship, that is one that was not anticipated by the long range missiles, short range AA guns, or anything else and assigned four stingers to it now all pre-trained and waiting for their shot.
Thompson was calling over the radio to coordinate the mortars and machine gun fire before broadcasting to Williams in the Cheetah where she couldn't get fire support to so that the MBT could deliver a couple of devastating shots.
Assigned and targeted gunships popped up at longer range and died before they had a chance to properly stabilize themselves in the atmosphere or just after take off. Fighters swooped down only for lock on and incoming missile warnings to scream at them before their sensors had even adjusted to having ground under them.
The smell of metal, ash, and blood filled the air. Arxur trying to get through the pass found it an impassable death trap. They had never encountered alien races who used barbed wire, much less the sheer volume of mines, and the thing that truly caused the reptiles to fear were the hidden single shot tubes full of deisel fuel mixed with wood glue and then aerosolized before something would ignite the fumes. Watching your comrades incinerated and calls of your enemy to let them burn, had the Arxur shooting their own comrades just to silence their screams.
Arxur field commanders stood in the back, shooting those who turned to run from the frontline while the Black Watch fired on. Their mortars were positioned around the 7 kilometer radius of the inner caldera so that at any point within the caldera or around its brim; three mortars could have rounds flying towards target at any one time. As soon as anyone radioed for support, mortars were flying in their direction, pre-dialed coordinates and ranges meant it only took three seconds for a mortar round to be dialed in and on the way.
The pass into the castle was starting to become clogged with Arxur bodies. But they were making progress, slowly. Campbell counted by this point, that most of his forward foxholes had been destroyed, all of them set alight by their preparations, preventing the Arxur from using them, recovering unreachable wounded humans, or bodies. Anyone who couldn't fall back would rather die fighting and then sending their would be captures or devourers into an inferno with them.
Campbell knew however, he was running out of ground to give and soon he would have to kill soldiers. They may kill a hundred each but they would still fall eventually. He saw his gunner snap back and drop off the side of his command vehicle. A vehicle which was all but disabled now. He moved to him.
Scrambling up the vehicle and pulling the wounded soldier down off the MG mount to the ground, laying him softly against the bullet ridden tire of the rover. He held his hand, "MEDIC! Medic!" Campbell called then turned to his trooper.
Campbell checked the nametag to be sure, Muller. "Muller, Muller." Muller turned his head, his eyes were growing hallow. Campbell looked at the wound, part of his upper chest was just gone. His neck was bleeding as well. There was a lot of blood. Slowly, he watched Muller's light escape his eyes.
That is enough. He returned to a reflection off of the now vacant eyes of Muller. The ridge had figures at the top of it. He snapped looking for Sims, when he couldn't find him, he pulled his radio. "Sims! Theyâre trying to storm the top of the castle! Grid 7-Bravo. Blow it, now.â he was pointing and screaming at the figures when his cyber arm suddenly jerked and sent him face down into the ground, his helmet rolling off.
On queue, the ridge where a few shadowy figures had appeared turned into a cloud of dust and rubble as a fireball erupted from it, silencing the rest of the battlefield for a few moments. The explosion sent rock, dirt, and mud over the side in an avalanche at the would be mountaineers. Everyone attempting to storm the outside of the caldera at that 50 meter grid would be buried in a coming storm of mountainside.
Campbell reached over and picked up his arm, looking at the cybernetic carefully. He sat up and next to Muller for a moment while making sure the connectors would still be good. His pain registers had shut off as soon as it disconnected. The connector appeared intact, just jerked out of the cybernetic socket by the impact and his body weight as the anchor. The round had only destroyed the outer layer of synth-flesh designed to make it aesthetically pleasing as well as his uniform that had been torn covering it.
He put the arm back in with a twist and it rebooted. His radio barked, âCannot hold the pass, we need more firepower. Yanks, you're up!â

Memory Transcription: Lieutenant Williams, United Nations âBlack Watchâ Company #4 Date [standardized human time]: December 3, 2136 Williams hated this, he called another target to his gunner and used his command machine gun to put down more rounds through the fraying camouflage around his tank. Tanks were supposed to be mobile bunkers not sitting ducks. Another high caliber plasma round bounced off their shield and their infantryman, Corporal Davies as he was introduced, the soldier turned the oldest M2 anyone had ever seen in the direction it came from.
Large caliber machine gun casings bounced off the hull top as they cascaded passed something scratched onto the side of the M2. It read in smaller and smaller scratches, âFrance, Philippines, Tunisia, France, Germany, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Iraq, Iraq II, Australia, Luna, Mars, The Cradle, Sillis.â The last two were still relatively fresh and easy to read.
âWilliams, our forward positions are getting overrun by sheer weight of bodies, youâre up. See you on the other side.â Campbell called to the tank crew and their IFV escorts.
Good, tanks were not made to sit still. What the Arxur were about to find out is that tanks are scary when they are shooting at you but they are even scarier when moving at full speed and still shooting at you extremely accurately.
âDriver, full speed ahead into the pass, put the shield down to scrape the dirt so it will blown any remaining mines; loader, gunner eyes front.â He called out and then clicked his intercom off to switch on his radio, âRipper 1 and 2, this is War Kitty, on our flank at 5 and 8 oâclock, staggered line fifty meter spread front, twenty to the side.â
That would put the IFVs Fifty meters behind him and twenty meters to each side. This was in case any orbital bombardment got through, even a rod from God would only get 1 vehicle then instead of multiple by the spacing.
A pair of affirmatives came back as the tank rolled forward and broke free of its camouflage to build up speed. Immediately the shield flared as soon as they broke the jungle with every single gun the Arxur had firing at them. Their small interceptor mini-phalanx on top shooting constantly to blow anything bigger than a rifle round out of the sky.
Meanwhile the IFVs pointed at muzzle flashes and sent bursts of .50 cal, 25mm, and 50mm in their direction. One Eisenhower was not a troop transport but strictly a gun platform, carrying a much heavier weapon. The only still used a proven 25mm chaingun.Williams pointed out another target, âGunner 11, Loader HE.â
âHE Up!â The loader called.
âSending.â
Williamsâs gunner yelled back. The machine guns stopped for a second on the tank and suddenly the turret shuttered as the round was sent, the reward was a hillside that the Arxur were using for cover blowing up in a fireball of red, orange, and black smoke. Arxur body parts, dirt, and debris flying up into the air as the ground was stained with grayâs blood.
Williams wasn't going to hesitate with his ammunition. The nature of the railgun meant that the ammo no longer had large casings of propel behind them. Only the shell head was needed, that meant the tank was packed with four times the ammo of a chemical propellant tank.
The crew worked like a well oiled machine. Every ten seconds another main gun round. Between them, the three fiftyâs and the 20mm beside the main gun did not stop shooting unless the gunner signaled.
It was grueling work, exhausting for the loader, mentally wearing for the gunner, forcing Williams to push his mind to the limit and glad for the stimulate that kept fatigue away from his mind. Their driver looking out like a truck driver who had been given too much caffeine but having to keep her jerks to a minimum. The objective was a smooth platform. The three drivers of the armored vehicles coordinating on their own private channel to keep moving through Arxur formations.
An hour passed, the tank rampaged. When they ran out of HE, they used HEAT, when that ran out, they switched to squash. When that ran out, they used the few anti-armor rounds they had brought.
Williams' voice was getting hoarse from calling targets, his hand vibrating from the shake of his command cupola gun. His body vibrated at a different frequency from the rumble of the engine and the quaking of the coaxial weapons.
Suddenly there was a clattering on the roof. Williams recognized it as someone foreign trying to get on the tank. There was clearly some slams against the roof of the tank. "I need help out here!" Davies called over the radio.
There was the distinctive sound of a body crushing under the tank tread that made the crew stop and debate opening the hatch to help. "Davies, what is going on out there? Davies!" Williams called in desperation.
Another few bangs on the room and their machine gunner outside had stopped replying, their shield had failed and rebooted several times, they must have got him with their boarding action. âRaider 2, weâve got ants and War Kitty does too.â
He checked the shield read out, they had twenty seconds until reboot, twenty seconds to get these Arxur off of them.
Williams swung the turret to look at Raider 2 to see several Arxur attempting to board the tank and get the hatches open. âRaider 2, affirmative. Sorry about your gunner.â He heard the bang of Arxur landing on his hull, likely from the trees around them.
âProceed with fly swatting, MG only. Gunner, Raider 2 at 7 and a half, full Coax.â The turret swung around, hitting an Arxur and sending him flying into a tree trunk with a sickening crunch before he fell in front of the tank tread. The MBT did not even notice crushing the creature and rolled on beyond the echo of crunching bone against the lower hull, which the loader noticed for a split second.
Pangs and hull tings echoed all around them as the IFV and tank exchanged small arms fire, clearing off their "pest problem" while not doing any significant damage to each other. Williams and his crew did not get time to celebrate.They had been rolling around the outside of the caldera. They moved from Arxur formation to formation; hitting Arxur units as fast as they could then trying to fade away before they could organize a counter attack.
They came back to the Caldera entrance for the fourth time, when they hit one of their own mines. Everyone in the tank was catapulted forward as the track blew off, the drive wheel on the left side seized and the tank nearly flipped, coming to thirty degrees to their right hand side. With a loud unearthly slam, every crew member was thrown to the floor after their heads banged off bulkheads with the whiplash.
Williams felt the ringing in his head, and the unholy headache of a concussion. His vision was fuzzy, he swore he head bells in his ears, his body felt distant; almost as if he were trying to tell his brain to radio control it. He held onto the side of the hull with one hand, trying to stand upon weak and unresponsive legs while his other hand held his aching head, âStatus report.â
No one replied. He reached over to his gunner and found his head limp at an unnatural angle. He checked him, his neck was broken clean by the sudden slamming into the bulkhead. Williams ears were ringing, his body wanted to vomit, his eyes couldnât see straight. He made out the face of his loader, Jenkins. Blood was trickling from his mouth as he laid on the floor in his loader section.
How did I get down here? Williams thought and reached for Jenkins, Jenkins gave a few spasms, spat up some blood and then his eyes glazed over until they were lifeless.
âJenkins? Jameson? Cleo?â He called out, repeating it again and again tapping the crew intercom on his neck, weakly as he slowly got to his feet. His brain was not processing that his loader and gunner were dead.
âIâm still here.â Cleo answered with her distinctive southern accent. âBut fuck, I wish I werenât.â
His driver was alive but in a separate section from the rest of the crew. âCan⊠can you move? Fuck, My head.â
There was a loud pang and the feeling of air getting suddenly sucked out of the cabin. Cleo screamed out over the comms and then Williams could hear her heavy breathing. The blurring double vision making it hard to be certain of his movements. It felt like pushing through a heavy lake to get his body to move and his ears rang with the sound of an intense bell.
âWilliams, Fuck⊠sorry Williams, but I canât now. Damn suspension shaft just ripped through the bottom hull and into my leg.ââStay where you are, Iâll come get you.ââNo Sir, the shaft is impaling my escape hatch and all that racket outside is all Arxur hitting us on the top. FuckâŠâ Cleo yelled in pain as she tried to shift something.
Williams couldnât hear the racket she was talking about. He was trying to process the idea that Cleo was hit and his emotions were screaming at him about his now dead loader and gunner. âSir, set turret control to my station, Iâm going to use the guns to cover you and the others. At least, until I bleed out.ââCleo, weâre it.â
Williams knew saying the words meant his comrades were gone, but emotionally his brain was shut off now.There was a pause on the radio, just a few seconds. Williams slowly reached over and changed the turret control to driver operated.
âAlright, fine, grab your SMG and go out your escape hatch, Iâll hold them off and keep us looking scary. Iâve only got a little bit until I bleed out.âThe turret started moving and Williams training kicked in through his concussion. He reached into his personal locker and pulled out the P90 as well as a few magazines and his survival kit, the kicked his escape hatch open out of the bottom of the tank and started to crawl beneath the stricken vehicle.
He kept crawling, heading for the forest, the sound of Arxur shouts and screams as well as gunfire getting quieter and quieter, until finally, Williams felt exhaustion overtake him and blackness closed in.
-------------------------------
Memory Transcription: Captain Neil Campbell, United Nations âBlack Watchâ Company #4 Date [standardized human time]: December 4, 2136 Raider 2 slowly rolled back down the pass, free of Arxur pursuit. It was in sorry shape to look at. The Anti-Air missile launcher was hanging on by its wiring. The mini-phalanx was gone except the targeting camera which still tried to move the non-existent AMS turret with sparks frying off the frayed wires. The main chain gun barrel was ripped off and what still existed was melted. Seven holes let the night moonlight through.
Both of the tracks had damaged segments that made them rotate around their drive wheels in a funny lopsided pattern. But the IFV rolled back into the silent caldera except for its dying engine. âRaider 2, reporting. Vehicle mission killed.â
Campbell tapped his radio, âGood job, get out and get some food, then get back on the line, your infantry now.â
The Arxur had pulled back after the armour went out and rampaged for an hour. Raider 2 had to wait until darkness closed in to roll back into camp. They had heard the boom of the cannon and sound of the passing armour engines and tracks across the terrain around the caldera. Mortars had provided the armour support fire and now the entire castle smelled of Arxur blood and cordite residue. It was now four hours later and the Arxur hadnât returned; yet.
The Arxur had not sent in a new wave. Likely in total shock at the armored platoons sudden sally out. Campbell approached the stricken Eisenhower IFV as it rolled to a stop and seemed to break down completely when the engine was shut off.
The crew staggered out, all of them had been wounded to some degree by spalling from their vehicleâs own metal. The flakes and shrapnel generated inside the vehicle from impacts on the outside had done a number on them. But the vehicle had somehow held together. Two of the three staggering figures were trying to carry a fourth trooper out.
Campbell walked over to see Williams with a head injury, one of his feet missing and tourniqueted at the calf as well as two of his fingers ripped off and taped together. âWhere are the other vehicles?â
The IFV commander fell to his knees, exhausted after constant combat and adrenaline just broke down crying. The man had enough and couldnât take anymore. Campbell reached down and slapped his across the cheek, âOih, stiffen your lip and answer me. We can cry about it later.â
The IFV commander looked up and nodded at the heavy cybernetic arm that had just slammed him. âSorry sir, just⊠Theyâre gone sir. War Kitty took a mine to the tracks, probably one of ours. Raider 1 went down to an ammo explosion, the crew were incinerated instantly. Best I can think sir is that the blow out panels had been welded shut by enemy small arms fire. We found Williams near War Kitty, the Arxur were running from the burning hull, it was still shooting at them.â He took a breath, tears staining his oil and gunpowder covered face.âThe gunner must have died and fallen on the turret swing with a death grip on the trigger. We put a missile in her to make sure there was nothing for the scalies to savage.â The commander managed as his crewmates came over and knelt with him while a medic ran off with Williams on a stretcher, followed by a second medic grabbing the stretcher halfway through.
The medics having issues carrying their shotguns and a patient.
Aliens donât play by our rules, medics are still targets to them. Campbell thought to himself as he gave a pat to the IFV commander.âYou did excellent, son, you and your crew. So did the rest of your unit. Weâll take it from here.â Campbell tried to use the platitudes to comfort but he knew within an hour those soldiers would be sleeping in a foxhole, with their crew SMGs and sidearms, as well as a helmet just like the rest of his men.
His radio squawked, âCaptain, frequency thirteen.âHe removed the radio forward several clicks until a shrill deep voice came across it. âHuman Commander, respond.â
Campbell recognized it as an Arxur voice and he picked up his radio, âSpeaking.â He pulled out his flask and took a swig of the whiskey he kept on his person as he listened.
âWe have you surrounded, there is no need to die. We are willing to take you as honorable prisoners with honorable and fair treatment, I assure you. All you have to doââ
âIâm going to stop you, right there. I just watched a pair of glorified armoured lories and a metal assault box rip through your lines and shred your forces to pieces.â He paused and let that sink in, knowing he was insulting his equipment to play up just how badly the Arxur were bloodied.
Campbell continued with this insult tirade, âI heard my recon squad of the lightest infantry I have, wrecked a thousand of you; solid. Listened to it on the radio all while it happened.â He turned to the pass and took a look at the piles of bodies across it and the carnage that looks like something straight out of the Great War more than two centuries ago. Not something he expected to ever see in a modern war.
âI have enough of your bodies to build a replica of Edinburgh Castle out of using them as the mortar.â
âHuman! We have you surrounded! This is your chance for mercy! Just surrender your prey to us and yourselves.â Campbell laughed into the radio, âHave you lost your mind; leaf-licking monkey?â
âNot at all, Iâm as chipper as can be right now. Listen up, izzard.â He let the name sink in for a second.
âYou have us surrounded? Good, we can fire in every direction and hit one of you. You want us? Come and get us.âHe flicked the radio off and headed for the medical tent. He needed to hear it from his doc just how many of his troops could fight and how many were not going to last the night or just be dead weight at this point. He also heard they took a few Arxur, alive.
------------------
Memory Transcription: Lieutenant Father Christopher OâMalley , United Nations âBlack Watchâ Company #4 Date [standardized human time]: December 4, 2136 OâMalley moved to another tarp covering a body that had been recovered. He slowly and silently whispered a prayer, taking the dog tag to give to the medic but using it to get the name and town of origin of the trooper. Taking careful note of the religion and following his training as well as a guidebook for the Catholic, agnostic, or protestant he found. He moved to last one, and finished his prayer.
Campbell was waiting for him at the end of the line of recovered bodies. âCaptain.â He said, standing slowly and offering a weary salute. Chris could feel his arm getting tired, he had been going so long and knew he would need a stim to keep up the night.
Campbell saluted back, âReverend, how bad is it?â
OâMalley looked at the bodies and sighed, âWell, never thought Iâd see Clemson die but he did. Dove onto a detonator and set off a satchel charge to take as many as he could before the armour rolled out.â The reverend took out a cigarette and lit it up, taking a long drag from the white paper pipe that took nearly half of it out in one go, then exhausted all his lungs as he let the feeling of euphoria wash over him. The nicotine did its job, steadying his nerves and slowly making his shaking stop. His emotions at all the last rites he had performed starting to defray slowly.
"Father, how many today?" Campbell asked preparing himself. He knew Father O'Malley would have taken note of every time he had done last rites and done a proper headcountting as well.
O'Malley took another drag and nodded, "Thirty-Seven including the Americans who did not come back."
âFather, why do you do it? Why here?â Campbell asked as he took a seat on the ground next to the priest who was still kneeling.
âA shepard is to watch his flock and when the wolves come knocking, send the wolves back to the forest where they belong. With a bloodied nose or broken leg if needed.â OâMalley replied with a soft sigh as he took another drag, the cigarette already starting to come up towards its end.
âAnd how do you reconcile religion with aliens?â Campbell asked, genuinely curious as to the answer. OâMalley chuckled and pulled the cig from his lips to tap off the ashes, âThat ainât my place to be figurinâ. Iâm here as the chaplain, higher powers than I determine how we reconcile aliens. My job is to tend to the souls of my flock, seeing as there isnât an atheist in a foxhole; that has gotten fairly complicated.â
Campbell nodded and pulled his whiskey flask to take another swig. It was down to less than a quarter left. âCaptain, no offense but stuff will kill you.â
Campbell smiled at the gallows humour as the reverend chuckled with him for a few moments. âNever change, father.â he spoke as he stood up and started to walk back towards his command tent.
âAye, aye, captain. Now Iâve got a special case to attend.â Campbell turned towards OâMalley as the chaplain rose and headed into the medical tent.âWhatâs that reverend?â
âAn Arxur asked for a priest.â OâMalley stepped into the tent and headed for where he knew the patient was. It only took a few moments before he arrived at the side of the bed. The Arxur was handcuffed and collared to the cot. Both of his legs were blown off at the upper thigh. His chest was also bandaged from shrapnel that had been sent through it.
OâMalley took a seat on a folding chair and pulled the dim light of their medical tent. Blood stained the sterile sheet placed over the ground. He looked over to the gray with a pain of sympathy for his injuries. The Arxur was breathing laborious and gasping at the air as if it were fighting him. He leaned in, âAlright, my child, how may I assist you?â
Through wheezing breathes the Arxur replied, âI am no hatching.â
âOh, you misunderstand, it is how a priest of our culture addresses someone who is more youthful than them.â OâMalley spoke slowly and he checked Arxur's pulse. Faint but for the moment steady. âIs there something I can do to make you more comfortable?â
âNo, I am dying. Your docs as they are called said they cannot help.â
OâMalley cleared his throat, âYou mean the medics.â
âYes, they do not know enough and there is no surgeon here. Shrapnel has punctured my organs, I will die soon.â
OâMalley reached down to a clawed hand, his instinct was to pull away at the scales but he resisted it. He gripped the hand gently but firmly, his other hand placed near the Arxurâs mouth on his shoulder, showing vulnerability to the creature. âI am here, how may I comfort you in this hour? What is it you believe?â
âIâŠ. I would rather know what you do, human.â OâMalley was taken aback by the request. He shook his head and resisted the urge to preach.
âI am a chaplain of our unit, I counsel the living, comfort the dying and give last rites to the dead. If that means I must learn your religion in your dying hour and console you with it, I will. Please explain what I mustââ
âHuman.â OâMalley silenced and listened to the Arxur speak, his mind slowly processing each word and ensuring he understood what the Arxur wished. He had trained long and hard, and he was not going to deny the wishes of a dying creature; not friend or foe. âHumor me. What is it that you believe?â
OâMalley took a moment and reached into his shirt, pulling out a small bible, he began to read a verse here and there, slowly explaining his religion, ensuring he focused upon the aspects of love, community, and companionship as well as faith. He spoke for an hour about love, mercy, and the strength of God as OâMalley believed in him.
He continued by explaining stories of the bible in short versions rather than reading verbatim. He explained the mercy and the concept of no atheist in a foxhole. O'Malley monitoring the Arxur's reaction, taking note of the tail as well as the face.
He realized the Arxur looked more peaceful than he had ever seen his species and paused, "If I remove your restraints, you won't attack me yes?"
The Arxur looked suddenly surprised and then nodded. O'Malley reached over to the buckles and clicked them off from the Arxur's wrists, waist, and neck. He did not immediately move but the creature managed a human version of a smile to show his appreciation. "Thank you, that is, more comfortable, please continue."
O'Malley continued explaining his beliefs and the story presented. He felt better preaching to a person who was able to push him away if they wished. It also began to feel less like talking to a prisoner and more like speaking with an old friend.
After intensely listening, the Arxur let out a severe ragged cough. Once the cough stopped, he was drooling blood onto his neck. âHuman, my time comes. Please, lead me in a prayer, I did not believe in anything before now. But your warriors prove something supernatural about them. Now, I wish to believe in something as I draw my final breath.â
OâMalley nodded and started to give a prayer then stopped himself. He opened his small bible to Psalm and let his faith guide him. âRepeat after me and you may yet see the gates of Heaven, my friend.â
The Arxur turned his head weakly, âI am called, Grissen, can your lord forgive a wicked creature as I? The things I haveââ
OâMalley squeezed the claw he held to get Grissen to be quiet and listen. âThe Lord only cares that before your final moment you renounce your evil ways, genuinely mean your repentance, and accept him. If you repeat after me and truly believe in that; allow him to change your heart in that final moment, then yes.â
Grissen weakly nodded, âProceed.â
âRepeat after me,â OâMalley waited to make sure Grissen was ready. âThe Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want." O'Malley prepared his patience as Grissen repeated the words, slowly. The Arxur was having to speak very deliberately through his breathing. O'Malley could feel the pulse had quickened as well.
"He maketh me lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his nameâs sake.â Grissen struggled but OâMalley's patience displayed that of the saints he spoke of. He calmly waited for the Arxur to catch up and gripped his hand to give him strength. Every stumble was a simple re-guiding from O'Malley with a smile.
Grissen's eyes showed remarkable recognition of O'Malley, never moving away from him as he listened intently, even managing to turn his head to face the priest fully.
His heart screamed for the pain this creature was in. Grissenâs voice was getting worse. He was drawing weaker, and unfocused with each passing word. He felt the agony in how his body shifted and his breathing struggled. The bloodshot eyes filled with torment but something else.
O'Malley recognized it as the desperation for acceptance, the desire to belong behind the pain. He had seen it so many times in someone's last hour. O'Malley hoped a surgeon would suddenly appear and save Grissen from this terrible slow way to die. His mind begged for such a miracle but his heart knew, it was too late.
He had administered too many last rites today but here he was giving another one. He felt his own tears forming in his eyes and fought them back.
Once Grissen finished the line, he resumed, âYea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head in oil; my cup runneth over.â
Grissen's voice was getting lower in volume, almost what O'Malley thought an Arxur child would sound like. His eyes were no longer following O'Malley; he was only speaking the words, getting more monotone and laboured with each passing breath.
âSurely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.â
Grissen slowly repeated the words, âSurelyâŠ. Goodness and mercy⊠despite my evil⊠shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.â
âAmen.ââAâŠmenâŠ.â Grissenâs grip slackened and he exhaled slowly, his chest deflated. His eyes glazed over and finally, his tongue fell from his lips across his cheek.
OâMalley reached up to feel his heart and felt no pulse. He was gone.
OâMalley gently placed the clawed hands across the chest in an X. He pushed the dried out tongue into the teeth and slowed the jaw. He noticed the smile upon Grissenâs lips that had formed in that last moment. He knew to leave well enough alone there. He reached up and closed the reptileâs eyes, slowly and gently. As he had done a dozen times today, every detail was precisely right.
He took a moment to admire how peaceful the gray managed to look in his final state of death. He pulled a notepad from his pocket and wrote on it, something he knew probably wouldnât get done as no one had time to bury the dead. It wasnât about if there was time, it was about the act of ensuring the last request was asked for and at least acknowledged.He placed the note between the hands, it had the image of a cross upon it and the words: âProtestantâ upon it. This would signal to any human that he was to be given a protestant burial.
OâMalley paused, tears dripping from his eyes for his enemy as he spoke. âLord above, take this one, Shelter this one, enemy-mine. For all are yourâs in death, even those who would see your servant slain. I ask not for vengeance but that you take pity upon this soul as it departs for the next life. He repeated in your name before his final breath, accept him with warm smiles and open arms as I commend Grissen to your care. St. Peter, I ask you to not be cautious or repulsed but instead, nod to him as you read his many sins and then inform him, all is forgiven in his final hour even by his greatest enemies. Amen.â
OâMalley felt his body shaking as he opened his eyes.His cheeks were warm with tears, a smile of delight upon his face to save a soul just before it left, even if he could not answer the question of aliens before God. It had been a worthy peaceful time here in the tent. Something OâMalley knew all too well about war, it was not war that would end war but rather; understanding could bring it to a stop. He got up, his legs weak and knees wanting to lock. He struggled to hold his weight as he walked from the tent, trying to calm his emotions.
He stepped outside, walking back to his position on the line and pulled another smoke, he had not yet gotten to his lighter when the sound of gunfire ripped through the caldera again. Weapons lighting up as the Arxur assault began anew.
For OâMalley however, he couldnât move. His chest burned. His heartbeat echoed in his ears. He watched the cigarette drop from his hand. He felt his strength drain from his legs as he fell over on his side. Machine guns and mortars tracers rippled across the valley. He felt warm blood pouring down his chest across his shoulder towards the ground.
He willed his eyes to look down and realized he was hit. His chest was heaving blood rapidly. His strength faded and slowly he felt his eyes become heavy.
He whispered a final prayer, âDear Lord, hold Grissen at the gates; I wish to enter beside my friend.â His final thought as his eyes closed for good barely ten paces from the medical tent. âAmen.â

2023.03.25 18:37 StepwiseUndrape574 Mexican Drug Cartels Apparently Think Skilled GTA Online Players Make Great Meth Mules
I have no personal frame of reference for this opinion, but I imagine being a drug runner for the Mexican cartel (or any cartel) is loads more fun in a video game setting than in real life. The latter pays more I'm sure, but the stress, risk to life and limb, and persistent threat of jail time have me convinced to stick with legal employment. Not so for some GTA Online gamers who thought it a good idea to become meth mules.
It sounds wild (because it is), but apparently drug cartels sometimes use online multiplayer video games as a source for new blood. Back in October of last year, for example, Mexico's assistant public safety secretary, Ricardo MejĂa, said a cartel recruiter purchased bus tickets for three teenagers between 11 and 14 years old.
The recruiter found the teens on Garena Free Fire, a popular online game, and offered them each $200 per week to serve as lookouts for the cartel. Authorities detained the teens before they boarded the bus, but MejĂa told ABC News that other cartels have also recruited drug mules and lookouts through video games, including Call of Duty, Gears of War, and Grand Theft Auto V.
Now three months later, Forbes says it discovered that US officials have evidence showing GTA Online is also used as a recruitment tool for drug cartels.
It's not clear how long this has allegedly been going on, but according to the site, border agents stopped and inspected a Jeep Cherokee in Arizona last November and found almost 60 kilograms of methamphetamine. The driver, Alyssa Navarro, said a man named George first contacted her in GTA Online, through which they got to know each other over time.
Those in-game chats later pivoted over to Snapchat, where George raised the idea of being a runner, albeit for electronics to be sold in Mexico. Navarro claims she was offered up to $2,000 per trip, depending on the size of the load.
The only problem for Navarro is that the cartel allegedly hid meth in the Jeep's fuel tank. Authorities have charged Navarro with conspiracy to import and sell meth, and also possession, charges for which she has pleaded not guilty.
It remains to be seen how that case will turn out. Suffice to say, though, if someone online propositions you for an offer that seems too good to be trueâor is outright illegalâit's best to politely decline.

2023.03.25 18:25 Recarica Can pantry moths damage my particle board shelving?
We got some pantry moths so I did a purge and a deep clean. We have IKEA cabinets that have long rows of precut bolt holds to help you adjust and customize shelving. I suspect larvae are in some of those. I covered them with duct tape. Is that a good idea or a bad one? I know mature larvae can eat through cardboard and plastic packaging. Will they be able to gnaw through this particle board in any way? Even if they canât get all the way through will they damage the integrity of the shelving?

2023.03.25 18:07 first__time__builder Advice regarding build for MMORPGs
Hello everyone!
Yet another first time builder here that would love to get your opinion on how well the following build works (more details on individual parts below). Any tips, advice, recommendations etc. are very welcome!
Build summary:
i5-13600KF 3.5 GHz 14-core with a Deepcool AK620
Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16
Samsung 980 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME SSD
MSI Gaming X Trio GeForce RTX 3060 TI 8 GB
Lian Li LANCOOL 216 ATX mid tower case
MSI MPG A750GF
Background:
The build is mainly driven by gaming-purposes, especially MMORPGs (e.g. Guild Wars 2). I have heard many times that this genre is more reliant on the CPU than GPU compared to other genres which is why I chose the parts listed below. I went with an Intel/Nvidia build as I've had great experiences with those in the past and I like GeForce Experience. The aesthetics don't matter that much to me and RGB is no must-have. The monitors I use are 1440p.
CPU (i5-13600KF 3.5 GHz 14-core):
The CPU was the first part that I chose and around which the whole build was designed. I went with an i5-13600KF 3.5 GHz 14-core to get a very good performance. As far as I understand the i7 and i9 are overkill regarding the number of cores for the purpose i described above. Integrated graphics seem irrelevant as I went with a dedicated GPU. For the CPU cooler I chose a Deepcool AK620 as the TDP rating of 260W seemed reasonable for the max 181W of the CPU, which apperently relies heavily on a good cooling system? Water-cooling is not an option for me.
Mainboard (Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4):
I went with a Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4 as DDR5 doesn't seem to be a reasonable performance increase for the money (maybe I am wrong?). As far as I know this board also provides great heat sinks and seems to be a popular choice. In order to work with the CPU, the BIOS has to be updated.
RAM (Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16):
For RAM I went with the Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200 CL 16. Nothing fancy but it should get the job done. I am not sure if DDR4-3600 or greater would be worth it as there might be compatibility issues (I didn't fully understand the idea of gear 1 and XMP).
SSD (Samsung 980 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME):
For the SSD I went with a 2TB Samsung 980 Pro. The main idea here was to get quick loading times in game, as I encounter loading screens quite frequently. The size should be sufficient as my last setup was about 1.2 TB so I even have some buffer.
Graphics card (MSI Gaming X Trio GeForce RTX 3060 TI 8 GB):
This one was difficult... Basically I was aiming for a good performance here for a reasonable price while not bottlenecking the CPU. A GeForce RTX 3060 Ti seemed like a good compromise. The difference between individual brands (MSI, Gigabyte, Ventus, EVGA etc. seemed so little and it got a bit confusing at that point). Also the shear amount of options for this part was crushing.
Case (Lian Li LANCOOL 216 ATX):
I went with the Lian Li LANCOOL 216 ATX as it appears to have a nice airflow and sufficient pre-installed fans. Also, there appears to be enough room for all components and an easy installation.
PSU (MSI MPG A750GF):
This one was also tricky. I used the website 'pcpartpicker' to get an estimation of the power consumption (525 W). I've heard that a good rule of thumb is to dimension the CPU by multiplying this value by 1.5 so I went with a MSI MPG A750GF to have enough buffer for peak consumption.
Thank you for reading and I am looking forward to your comments!

Specs: Intel i5-10400F, Nvidia GTX 1070, 16gb Ram, AIO, ASUS TUF board I can load MW 2019, MW2 warzone, assetto online, R6 Seige, etc with no ping issues whatsoever. I cleared my temp, restarted pc, reinstalled roblox, and reset my router to no avail. If anyone has any idea how i can solve this i'd love to know and am willing to screenshare my issue if necessary. https://preview.redd.it/7czg6it34xpa1.png?width=419&format=png&auto=webp&s=3d0fb856864f9e8b060b3177b384ae4787ef0ed0 submitted by Careful_Account4543 to RobloxHelp [link] [comments] |
2023.03.25 17:57 StepwiseUndrape574 GTA 6 Minigames: What New Additions Could We See?
There are a lot of possibilities for new minigames in GTA 6, given the creativity and variety that the franchise has demonstrated in the past. Here are some ideas:
Arcade games: Perhaps players could visit arcades in the game world and play classic arcade games like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, or Street Fighter. These could be fully playable games within the game, with leaderboards and prizes for high scores.
Casino games: GTA 5 already had a fully-realized casino, but GTA 6 could expand on this with more games like craps, roulette, or baccarat. These games could be played for in-game currency, with high-stakes games available for the most daring players.
Sports: GTA 5 had a few sports minigames like golf and tennis, but GTA 6 could expand on this with more sports like basketball, baseball, or football. These could be played against other players online, with prizes for the winners.
Board games: Players could visit coffee shops or bars in the game world and play board games like chess, checkers, or backgammon. These games could be fully interactive, with the pieces moving around the board in real-time.
Puzzle games: There are plenty of puzzle games that could be integrated into the world of GTA, like Sudoku, crossword puzzles, or jigsaw puzzles. These could be found in newspapers or magazines within the game world, and completed puzzles could unlock rewards like hidden vehicles or weapons.
Virtual reality games: With the recent release of VR headsets like the Oculus Quest, GTA 6 could incorporate virtual reality minigames like shooting galleries, puzzle rooms, or horror experiences. These would be fully immersive and could provide a break from the main game.
These are just a few ideas for new minigames in GTA 6, but the possibilities are endless. The franchise has always been known for its attention to detail and variety, so players can likely expect a wide range of activities to keep them occupied in the game world.

2023.03.25 17:50 throwaway34502845028 (Ohio) HOA did not hold elections and is barring members from raising issues for a vote at annual meeting
The HOA I live in was turned over to the community in February of 2022. Since that time the initial members of the board of directors have
- decided that all ideas from the community should be sent to the board for their approval before being voted on by the community.
- Not hold an election and place themselves as returning members to the board
When members raised the issue during the annual meeting about the conduct of the board the chair stopped all conversation and said that the board's decision was final.
Our by-laws state that
1) The members of the board of directors shall be elected during our annual meeting
2) The order of business of any association meeting shall be set by the presiding officer, unless determined by a majority of low owners present at the meeting.
3) The by-laws may be amended by a majority of the owners
I have written to the board and requested to speak with them about the decisions they have made. They initially refused. When I presented the board with the various sections in our by-laws I was met with threats with being forced to talk to a lawyer. It seems very straight forward that lot owners have the ability to vote on changes within the HOA and do not need board's approval. What do you do if the HOA board refuses to follow it's own by-laws?

2023.03.25 17:49 AHungerForKnowledge How do I automatically add something to a group in Notion?
I make videos and I want to set up a workflow "board view" on Notion. What I'd love is to have a separate page where I can enter "Video Ideas" and have them appear in the "Idea" group of an existing board view.
So to break it down I have an idea, I open the idea page and type it in, then it automatically is populated under "idea" in a table as the first time, later I can move that record to "Write Script" "Shoot Footage" "Edit" etc.
Hopefully I've explained that correctly. How could I achieve that?

Patreon Eliza followed behind Danials and Jefferson as they boarded the
Staff of Lore. The meeting had taken hours to get through, but even after all that time they walked away with little new information. As the hatch closed behind Eliza the three of them let out exhausted sighs, Jefferson put a hand to her neck and slowly popped it.
âHow long until we get effective translators?â Captain Jefferson asked, mental fatigue taking its toll on her as she failed to uphold the same rigid posture Eliza had always seen her exhibit.
âIts only the second day.â Daniels grumbled. âIt was a while before we could effectively communicate with the Kunanâai. And their language was easier to grasp. Our
Gotari friends seem to have a tonal language just as complicated and unintuitive as English. Thatâs going to complicate things. Thereâs a reason the Union tries to push Galactic common over translation software.â
âIts going to take some time before weâre capable of sharing complex ideasâ Eliza chimed in.
She and Daniels were the only people present who were familiar with the long and drawn-out process that was first contact. It had taken some time before they could easily talk with Braâtal and his advisors. And they had previously been able to skim old radio transmissions to better understand their language. One of their goals for this meeting was to convince the Gotari to give them some digital records for them to feed into the translation software. The other goal had been to get a better understanding of what kind of mess they were wrapped up in.
It had taken hours of miming and very fragmented sentences, and even still they were unsure of what they were told. Daniels guess about their situation had been more or less on point, the Gotari originated on the now desolate world, their ancestors had been confused by the Ecumenopolis for centuries, until they finally launched probes to get a direct view of the world. After that they entered into an international space race to reach the âCity-planetâ, first research outposts, then permanent bases using the preexisting infrastructure, until they finally created self-sustaining colonies. Much like humanity and her homeworld of Mars.
Though unlike with Mars, the Ecumenopolis had already been habitable from the start. Meaning their colonies were self-sustaining much quicker than the human ones.
After that the conversation got a little murkier as they began approaching concepts that were harder to explain in simple terms. From what they could tell the Gotari began to map and explore the world, venturing many layers below the planetâs surface city. The upper city had been crushed under falling orbital structures and the rust resistant metal had slowly fused under the heat and pressure of its own weight. Making the top layer worthless for salvage and archeological digs. But the lower levels were another matter.
The expeditions yielded immense boons to their civilization as they unearthed highly advanced technology. Sustainable fusion, superconductors, and advanced alloying processes all made their way back to the homeworld and revolutionized everything. They entered into a sort of âGolden ageâ. But it didnât last long.
Fezzen and the female one called Veena had been leading the conversation up until then, but once the conversation started to broach heavy topics the stoic Foric took over. He explained, very briefly, that the Swarm was awoken and that they activated one of the planets ancient defense systems to hold the Swarm at bay. After that Foric called their meeting to an end, inviting the three humans to showcase their strengths the next time they met while also inviting them to take a tour of Moulvus. Which was the nearest Gotari city.
âThey left a lot unsaidâ Daniels said, putting voice to what both Eliza and Jefferson were thinking. âIts still early days so Iâm not expecting much. But what they did say has left me nervous. That Swarm has us and them trapped on this world, escaping isnât an option since the space sharks can emit anti-warp fields and are faster than our sub-light speed. I spoke with Nelson, he said that even if we stripped
Lory down to just her hull and engines we couldnât beat the space sharks max speed. Same with
Sheila and
Soo.â
âShould we signal the main fleet?â Jefferson asked.
âNot yet. We only have a vague idea of their numbers and capabilities. Besides, the
Astaroth is the only cruiser we have still in Orion, with the
Asmodeus to launch in a month or two. And calling back First fleet could take some time. Our best goal right now is to gather more intel and better scope out the problem. The Gotari have been fighting the swarm longer than us, and might have some valuable insights.â
Jefferson frowned at that name âI still feel a little awkward hearing that name. They didnât have a species name before we met them, our presence is already affecting their culture.â
âUnavoidableâ Daniels rebuked âany contact will result in cultural bleed through, this happened with the Kunanâai, and with humanity. Change isnât necessarily bad, so long as its voluntary and in the spirit of growth. And it goes both way, seeing the nuclear devastation of the Winter World and the crowded bunkers of the Kunanâai has changed my view on those kind of weapons entirely. Thereâs a difference between hearing about the consequences, and seeing it firsthand.â
Jefferson and Eliza both gave Daniels a look, though neither was the same. Jefferson looked at Daniels with suspicion, wondering how much he had changed while he was the Captain of
Lory. Eliza on the other hand felt her heart melt because she also knew that Daniels had changed. They both had.
They were both a long way from the woman who had disdained the rough Terran man who had taken her job, and the man who held a sword to a womanâs throat in anger.
Daniels, completely oblivious to the two different looks he was getting, sighed. âAt least it was a traditional name that they chose for themselves, and not something we assigned them like the Trikes.â
Eliza frowned âWhatâs wrong with Kaydic?â
The two former marines gave her a baffled look. âYour way too insulated for your own good.â Jefferson remarked with a shake of her head.
âEliza,â Daniels began, his voice exasperated and uncomfortable, as if he was embarrassed to be explaining something this apparent to an adult. âThe name the Union gave the Trikes was the name of the most dominant ethnic group. The one who won their worldâs equivalent to both world wars through bioweapons, atom bombs, and genocide. Some Trikes feel insulted being called Kaydic since thatâs the name of their conquerors. Most Trikes you see on stations are from minority groups who fled oppression.â
Eliza blinked âOh, I thought Trike was just some dumb nickname, like Limey, or Yank.â
âIt is, but its also what non-Kaydic Trikes prefer to be called.â Jefferson explained.
Eliza felt ashamed of her ignorance. She thought back on the joint study she did with Kaydic researchers and wondered if she had been offending everyone by using what she thought was the proper name. Likely not, they had all been from their planets national research institute, so they likely were Kaydic. Had she been snubbing her nose at all those dumb nicknames when they were really the preferred monicker. âWhat about Boneâmen and women?â
âJust a dumb nicknameâ Daniels answered. âHuman mouths canât make the same sounds as they can, so we can either butcher it or call them something else.â
Eliza let out a sigh of relief.
âGetting back on topic, I still have one lingering question.â Jefferson interjected. âWhy did you bring up Adam and the Christian creation myth?â
Eliza frowned âWhile I donât agree with the
myth part of that statement I was wondering the same thing. Why did you bring religion into a diplomatic first contact meeting?â
Daniels turned away a put a hand to his neck. âIt just sort ofâŠfelt right.â
âIt felt right?â Captain Jefferson asked, her voice tinged with skepticism.
âWell yeah, you heard Foric, the name they chose for themselves has obvious religious connotations. Mentioning Adam and Genesis went a long towards humanizing us in their eyes. Well not humanize, but you get my meaning.â He saw the blank looks from Eliza and Jefferson and sighed. âThis isnât like with the Kunanâai. Where we could come and go as we pleased, weâre in
their hanger, in
their home, and on
their world. Their leaders might decide to that theyâre better off figuring out our tech for themselves and storm out ships. And while they might be shorter than us I, any determined assault is bound to succeed since they have the home field advantage. And even if we somehow repelled them and escaped we would be back to where we started but without locals who know the situation inside and out.â
She watched as the body language of the two ship captains became less open and more wary. The two former soldiers had just realized they were in potential enemy territory and their combat instincts had kicked in.
âThey might try to pull a Roswell on us.â Jefferson muttered as a hand drifted to where a pistol would have been if they hadnât gone into the meeting unarmed.
Eliza scowled âFirst contact proved that Roswell was a hoax. Declassified documents proved that it was an experimental flight system being tested. And there are no grays amongst the many species of the Union.â Nearly two hundred years into the space age and UFO abduction stories and alien probing still happened.
Daniels snorted âThe funny thing about crack pot conspiracy theories is that they donât go away just because you have really good refuting evidence. It just evolves into something crazier.â
Jefferson chuckled âHad a friend who used to go Big Foot hunting in the mountains, his latest expedition was to the Hellas Pont.â
Eliza blinked âBut those are on Mars.â
The two former Marines laughed at Elizaâs frustration. Their growing unease and tension gone.
Daniels was the first to calm down, he caught his breath and looked at Eliza with a smirk. âWell, we can cross those bridges when we get there. Right now things are still peaceful, and we should keep it that way. Jefferson, you can bunk down here for the night, no point going back out after we said our goodbyes. Eliza, meet with Kenichiro and see if you can offer some insights into the Gotari language.â
âAnd you?â Eliza asked with crossed arms.
He gave sideways glance before shifting his gaze directly forward. âIâm going to reveal our footage and sensor data with Nelson. Try to devise and an escape route and plan of attack if things get dicey.â
âYou want to continue pushing diplomatic talks while also planning for a fight?â She asked, her voice dripping with displeasure.
âI am doing whatever I can to keep our people alive.â He said firmly.
âWhere was that attitude when we learned about the dangers this mission posed?â
âThatâs differentâ he growled âThose were orders, and now that weâre here I have to do whatâs best for our people.â And without another word Daniels began to march out of the airlock.
Jefferson remained behind to give Eliza a single stern look. It wasnât reproachful, it was more like she was finally acknowledging Eliza as a potential threat. But a threat to what? Jefferson wasnât as heavily built as Daniels or Astarte, but she was packing more than enough muscle to subdue Eliza with a single punch. Jefferson turned away and marched after Daniels. Leaving Eliza alone with the orders her captain had given her.
~~~*~~~
Daniels heard the tromping feet of Captain Jefferson behind him as he stalked towards the helm.
âJackson, can we have a minute?â she called from behind.
Daniels flinched âI told you I donât like being called by my first name.â he turned and looked her head on. Her armor had the same black lacquer and gold trim as Daniels and the other Hellworlder captains, though hers also came with an artificial wolf pelt draped across shoulders. A signifier that hers was given to her by Lucile, Captain of the
Lucifer. Whereas Daniels had been awarded his armor by Astarte of the
Astaroth. Her hair was tightly braided and pulled up behind her head in a tight bun. Daniels looked into her brown eyes and didnât see the stern sharpness of Captain Jefferson, but the soft and familiar gaze of Sam.
She smiled softly âSorry, youâll always be Jackson to me. For me your brother was Daniels, and you are Jackson.â
He felt a sadness stab his heart. Sam was younger than Daniels and came up in the same cadet group as his younger brother Riley. It was common for Cadets to call each other by their last names since its what the drill instructors were always shouting, at least until they got familiar enough to start assigning nicknames. Just as Jackson was Daniels to his friends and brothers in arms, Riley was Daniels to his. âFine, Jackson will do.â
She smirked mischievously âI could call you Whiskey, like the old days.â
Whiskey had been the incredibly creative and well thought out nickname and callsign during his days as a Marine grunt. Before he had become a captain in the Hellworlder fleet.
âThe old days are gone. You and I are both captains now, we need to hold ourselves to a higher esteem.â
âThatâs why I wanted to talk with you.â
âAre you referring to Elizaâs parting barb?â
âI am.â
Daniels sighed, âLets go somewhere more private, my quarters are down this hall.â
She nodded and followed Daniels down the hall. He led her to his Captainâs quarters, the door slid to one side and they both stepped through to the privacy of his suite.
His room wasnât much, he had the luxury of a full sized bed on a spaceship, a private bathroom equipped with a small shower and sink to wash his face, and a small corner desk with several neat piles of paper besides his computer screen and keyboard. Unlike other Hellworlder ships he didnât have an attached office to his quarters, instead his office was just outside of the bridge along the shipâs central hallway.
His upbringing with the Vet clans and later cadet training had left him with the deeply ingrained instincts to make his bed with tightly tucked sheets and perfectly fold his robes before putting them away. The Hellworlder fleet was in general much more relaxed about things like made beds and folded uniforms, and some from the Vet clans took to letting their rooms slide into chaos and disarray. But he never could, it was too deeply ingrained into his brain.
The only personal touch that made his room less than a textbook example of military professionalism were the photos he had hung on his wall. After the mutiny and
Loryâs refit Daniels finally felt comfortable enough in his ship to pull them out of his lock box and hang them on the wall. He had the picture of his first ship, the
Tartarus, framed in a walnut frame and hung right above his desk. In an identical frame next to it was a picture of the
Staff of Lore hovering out of Temple Drive Yards fresh out of her refit. Below those Daniels had a picture of himself and Astarte on the day he had received his promotion to Captain, he didnât want to mark the occasion with anything fancy, but Astarte had insisted on the photo. A jaded part of Daniels had thought the photo was for propaganda or to boost moral, but only one copy was ever printed. And that copy was on Daniels wall.
There were several newer ones as well. Him and Eliza standing with a group of Kunanâai after they had finished drafting the Constitution of Fawnâkar. They had been brought in to watch the signing since they were the reason any of it was possible. Beside it was a photo of Braâtal and his advisors first exploring the land that would become their capital.
And set aside from all the other photos was a single picture of Daniels, his parents, and his brother posing on the deck of the
Astaroth on the day before they had shipped out for the battle of Grayland. It was the last photo of his brother before he had taken two dozen BBâs from a claymore mine, shielding Daniels from the blast but dying on the spot. Every time Daniels passed it he rubbed his thumb on the corner like a good luck charm.
Sam locked her eyes of Riley and rubbed a thumb over a the same corner. âFunny how life works.â She said softly. âA man can survive hurtling towards a planet in a drop pod while under fire, get in a fist fight with a pirate, rip out that pirateâs throat with his own rusty combat knife, and die to a claymore only hours later. Kinda makes life seem very random. I might die to some alien sickness before that swarm of space sharks decides to attack.â
Daniels shrugged âThatâs life, death can come at any moment, nothing is guaranteed. Last year I tried to go down with my ship after mutineers took it over, but here I am. Alive and stuck in some other fustercluck.â He sat on his bed so that Sam could take the chair.
Sam snorted âI heard about that, must have been a relief. Knowing one moment that you were going to die, and then get rescued.â
âRelief isnât the word Iâd use, stupid is more accurate. I didnât even consider having the
Beelzebub board and subdue the enemy, I was so set on dyeing in a heroic sacrifice that I totally ignored the fact that I didnât have to die.â Daniels stared at his folded hands.
Sam pursed her lips âI heard something else about that day, a baseless rumor that you kissed your lieutenant before ejecting her escape pod.â
Danielsâ head snapped up and looked Sam in the eye. She in turn was searching his for an answer.
âSo its true.â She said after seeing the answer in Daniels heart.
âYesâ he said.
âWas it just a dumb attempt to get a kiss before you died, or do you have feelings for her.â
âThe later.â
She scowled âNo offense, but she doesnât seem like your type.â
âYour telling me, she was a pain in the ass the moment she came aboard challenging me at every step. Calling my morality into question, my competence.â
âI take back what I said, you and Riley always had a thing for women who called you on your shit.â Daniels gave her an affronted look and was about to defend himself when she pressed on. âIs it really wise to have someone like that on your ship, let alone your second in command?â
âWhat kind of question is that? Eliza is an excellent second in command, sheâs my bridge to the science crew. She keeps them in line and appraised of the situation, so we donât have another mutiny over a misunderstanding.â
âI just watched her challenge your authority in an airlock. Can you honestly tell me that your judgement on this matter is being clouded by your feelings?â
âYes I canâ Daniels said, his voice getting louder as his frustration mounted. âShe challenged my authority in the company of a fellow captain, not a crewmen. Just as your challenging my judgement right now. Our lieutenants arenât just yes man, theyâre there to temper our minds and alert us when weâre making a bad call. Eliza is a pacifist through and through, and she reminds me that not every situation calls for a violent response. Whereas my instincts are to see everything as a threat and respond in force.â
âWeâre soldiers, of course weâd respond with military force.â
âAnd thatâs why weâre in charge of the ships, but you and I both need to remember that weâre not commanding warships with hardened combat veterans. Our mission is a civilian one, not a military one. Learning the difference was the first lesson I learned on the
Tartarus. You havenât had to yet, but the difference is very important for our continued relationship with the Gotari and proving that we can be friends.â
Her eyes were hard as he lectured her, and he saw that he was now talking to Captain Jefferson, and not the more laid back Sam. âI see. I will take your advice under advisement. Thank you for listening to my concerns.â She said stiffly.
âYou had a valid complaint and it was right for you to voice it. That said I hope itâs the last I hear of it.â
She nodded âUnderstood, then Iâll take my leave.â
âRoom 36 is unoccupied, please use it and make yourself comfortable.â
She nodded once more and strode out of his room. Daniels let out a sigh once the door slid close with its iconic whoosh. The situation was stressful enough as is, he didnât need any discontent between his lieutenant and fellow captain. He hoped this was all that he would hear of it.
Treatment #4- Work On Yourself instead of Women
I used to work at a Supermarket and while there I worked on Myself NOT on the Women but on Myself I can only change Myself and You can only change Yourself Nothing ever has to be entirely TRUE If things are not going Your way and Your first thought is to change another You are playing for the wrong team The best way to a Woman s Romantic Yin Energy is to Change Yourself first Your Perspectives Perceptions and Life Results will have little choice but to change afterwards
48 This short will start off with Chad plucking His bookshelf Plucking His bookshelf is when Chad stuffs His most valuable unread books into His bag before He leaves the house You will also observe Him putting three pens into His pocket One for lending out which may never be returned and two for Me to transcribe Our ideas 3 pens have little use without an empty notebook to write special ideas in so Chad of course includes one The scene shifts to where You see Chad sitting in the middle of social group conversing He is the most silent because His self defined purpose is not conversing He is working on Himself Almost everybody around Him knows about Him He just chooses to be self sufficient at the present moment The simple fact He is so indulgent into His work makes the group s majority just wonder and ponder about His intentions At some point the group decides to include Chad in the conversation. Chad secretly intended this because His props had been in place. His âconversational propsâ include His laptop, headphones, music, books, pens, notepads and self sufficient, positive mental attitude. âWith all these items in place, it is tempting for a stranger not to âinitiateâ small talk.â
Treatment #6-Formal Conditioning Riot continued
This scene will focus on âTroy the Light Caseyâ aka âJ Questâ meditating in His own special way. These next scenes will heavily illustrate the difference of perspective and routines when approaching meditation according to different souls. Troy the Light WILL NOT be seen throwing His books. Instead, the viewers will observe Him collapsing on the floor in laughter because of what He has just internalized. The next scene will show both Chad and Troy in a grocery store âpicking up womenâ together. Chad will have Mysteryâs âPick Up Artistâ in hand; Troy will have âThe Gameâ by Neil Strauss. They will then be seen switching books and then initiating conversations with various women.
The short will conclude with both Troy and Chad letting their respective women read separate excerpts from the text resulting in different situations. Troy will induce âHis femaleâ into a fainting episode; He will then catch Her and kiss Her intensely. She will then wake up thank Him for His efforts and pull Him outside the store while declaring âHave I got an assignment for You sweet cheeks.â Chadâs female will be outrageously offended by His chosen paragraph and will bend over and punch His chest and abdomen with both fists. Another lady will have crept behind Chad by this time and is awaiting Her friendâs punch. The punch causes Chad to stumble over the other female. He laughs out of shock and necessity as He falls to the ground. While Chad falls to the ground, Brendan will throw a bunch of His notes into the air for an added effect.
Brendan will now pop up over a freeze frame and state: âNow I know that was funny...it was...My moms still laughing. Now check this result out. In this scene, the lady will still react in a hostile manner. This time the female will perform a spinning kick to Chadâs face. (I have yet to come up with a special effect for this so I just may be kicked in My face in reality.) Now the captions will read: âTo avoid disastrous consequences of this nature...Be sure You have fully conditioned Yourself formally.â
This scene will begin with Chad living in His bathroom mirror He will be observed listening to His favorite positive mood inducing music while dancing with His shirt off He will have a list of His favorite and most positive aspects ABOUT HIMSELF in which He recites with the upmost sincerity and confidence in Himself He will ask Himself on camera What type of person shall I die AS Chad WICK?!?? Chad will then list the qualities the dead Chad will have possessed before that fateful time Chad will also introduce the viewers to the 3 Dimensional Image theory by using His pyramid example Once the pyramid tidbit is finished He will encourage the viewers to clear up the image they see of themselves He
50
will deliver a 30 second speech based upon Association and Human Development The short will conclude with Chad asking the viewers Are You the Person You would like to Be? An Ecstatic Now Moment!!!
I started writing original poems at age 5 for family memberâs birthdays
Now it is part of a well executed plan to get me out of my worst days
But every day is wonderful because
My perception is Godâs greatest gift to me...duh
This is unfamiliar to you though, this is in fact our first meeting
And I practiced so much just so you can tell Ms. Winfrey âoh he gave such a pleasant greetingâ
The best gifts possible for Christmas, of course my mother knew
Books by Michael Crichton, now Iâm witty, charismatic, energetic and articulate too
My biggest dream is to be a much better parent to my future kids
My single mother was always there; daddy on the other hand, was gone before the wind
My second biggest dream is to meet my film quota
As well as scooping up the Oscars and sharing them with Oprah
And Harpo
My thoughts though
Are very well planned
And I consider myself a very well mannered young man
The truth is Iâm twenty
But opportunities of this magnitude are not always plenty
55 So Iâd rather convey my ambitious spirit to you all, instead of demanding give me
Because you all do not owe me anything, but Iâm afraid I owe myself
The chance to become an independent African American filmmaker; so please TUNECHI, can a brother earn a little help?
The Showâs Narrators
60
Candice Harley Quarli aka Chizzy- Chizzy is simply that Nigga. He is the most popular character on the show. He is the 15yr old mentor of the twin Push-awn-drivin boys. He is a supermarket clerk who deeply aspires to be a âprofessional lucid dreaming spokespersonâ. All shows revolving around Chizzy will be narrated by him. He wonât narrate every show âbecause heâs busyâ but his replacements will always do the show justice. Chizzy worked extremely hard to achieve everything he currently has. He has the most positive attitude out of every other character on the show; which in itself is an amazing feat because the show revolves all around lifeâs positive aspects. The show will observe him grow from a 15 yr old worker into a 25 yr old A-list movie star. Chizzy will always be seen with a Polaroid camera dangling from his neck and a camcorder tripod diagonally placed across his back like it was a samurai sword. One of his trademarks is placing his fingers like a cameraâs frame and reciting directorâs remarks: Action, resume positions, thatâs a location wrap, cut, again, as you were, now this time try it like this and etc. Chizzy is romantically involved with Ashleigh Saturday in a heavy and exclusive relationship. Ashleigh, because of this fact alone, is the showâs other main narrator.
Ashleigh Saturday- Ashleigh Saturday is âa 16 yr old female phenomenonâ according to Chizzy and his âsourcesâ. Chizzy feels this way because he is healthily obsessed with the concept of lucid dreaming. What attracts him to âAsh Sashâ is her in depth knowledge base of certain topics Chizzy knows nothing about. On the first day they had an official date together at a local cafĂ©, Ashleigh secretly brought along her âlucid dreaming case study suitcaseâ. This suit case contained industry specialist interviews done by reputable journalists, her dream boards: visual representations of her goals and spiritual ambitions, and many dream journals: chronological lists of her nightly dreams. Needless to say, this list causes Candiceâs mouth to drop wide open. âThis was the moment I knew I would never let us break up once we became an item. I mean, with a personality and knowledge base like she has, how could I be so stupid as to let her leave my life?â On their first date, before she pulled out the briefcase, they were sitting across from each other. After she intrigued him with the briefcaseâs contents however; Ashleigh decided to request Chizzy sit next to her. He loved her ability to determine his true feelings and her boldness after she knew his feelings. She patted her left hand on the empty seat space next to her and requested âsit next to me please.â
Ashleighâs perspective on life is very similar to Chizzy. Her father left her family 2yrs before she met Chizzy and Candice is the only person who immerses her in enough joy to cease the pain. The show will display segments of her crying out in pain due to her âlack of a fatherâ. Then the scenes will always shift to her looking up and laughing from all the good memories she
2023.03.25 17:28 Blue_Fairae Restrained a student and now SpEd admin are middle managing
I am a behavior support specialist in elementary school. We had a 5th grade student with very extreme behaviors, low cognitive and adaptive scores, commiserate academics. Violent, aggressive, threats to kill all of us when they are upset. The student had previously been emergency expelled after attacking staff, mainly to automatically trigger a manifestation. The entire team asks for a change in placement to a self contained program that is specifically for students like this one. Parents are sad at the idea of the student not finishing elementary school with us but on board. District admin says no because they don't want to move someone so close to the end of the year and their last few months of elementary.
Fast forward 1.5 weeks later. Student comes in the building. Immediately refusing to move from the entry. Mom takes them home to regulate. They come back about 45 minutes later. Still refusing to move from the entry way. After about 30 minutes we are able to get the student to a conference room in the office. Mom leaves. The student isn't happy about being at school. We remind them how close they are to their big reward, showing the reward chart. They continue escalating. At one point they were being unsafe standing on the back of a chair so I move from the doorway to stand near them and print to get off the chair as it isn't safe. They lunge at me scratching, kicking at trying to bite. My PA comes to help we are using a gym mat to separate the student from us while keeping eyes on. They come and jump, reaching over the mat and grab my PA's chest and are squeezing and twisting. I move to the student, grab their arm in the way taught in CPI to control and use the wall next to us to control their body so I can use my other arm to help free my PA. So student's side was against the wall, my body on the other side holding their arm, while they continued to try and bite me. As soon as we got the student to release my PA, I let go and we moved away again using the mats to separate/protect until Mom arrived. They were trying to hit/kick us the whole time. Continued for about another 45 minutes until Mom got them to the car, still escalated and saying they wouldn't leave until we were all bloody on the ground. Super fun. Area coordinator comes, watches the video of the incident and says we did everything right.
Student was EEd again and is now moving to our virtual learning program for the remainder of the year. We offer SpEd services in our virtual program.
Fast forward another week and a half. SpEd coordinator and behavior coordinator, neither of whom are my coordinator (we have a very admin heavy district), come and are mad because I used the wall and said so in my paperwork. They just kept asking why we didn't move to a 2 person hold instead. There wasn't a safe way to do that with the student's level of escalation. Maybe if we had 3 people we could have while they were grabbing my PAs chest (her entire breast was swollen and bruised), but we didn't. The only other trained person is the principal who was in a training. Now my PA and I have to do a CPI refresher and I am pissed because I feel like they are throwing us under the bus when this could have been prevented if they had moved the student to a program staffed with people who are specifically trained to deal with incidents like this like we asked.
Now my state is talking about making all restraints illegal. People are going to be hurt. The student in this situation was not hurt at all. No bruises or anything according to mom. I had several scratches from when I initially went in and was trying to back away, not from when I did the hold. The PA is still sore. District admin were going to have the student come back to us until Mom suggested our virtual program and mom was saying she thought it would be better to keep staff safe. Mom is not upset at all and appreciates everything we have done for her child. When will we start doing what is right for student's instead of focusing on full inclusion and reducing suspensions to the point where the students aren't getting the supports they need and there are no consequences for their actions.
2023.03.25 17:28 therad188 AsRock rgb issue
Hey guys, anyone know a way to solve an openrgb issue I'm having would be greatly appreciated. I tinkered a lot with the program and now have this problem where it seems my chipset heatsink lighting is permanently stuck on and uncontrollable (it was working normal for weeks). Rescan devices no longer picks up on the MB, only the ram is detected. This is on an AsRock x399m Taichi board. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times with no change. When switching to my Windows 11 drive it's the same issue, stuck on and uncontrollable. Any ideas?
2023.03.25 17:27 Healthy-Age-1757 Arthritis and surgery
I had my initial surgical consult this week, and I presented my surgeon with a conundrum. I have pretty severe GERD, which would suggest that a RNY would be the procedure of choice. However, I also have psoriatic arthritis, and take 2 immune suppressants plus NSAIDs, which increases the risk of complications of a bypass and makes the sleeve a safer option. My rheumatologist and primary care doc are both on board with surgery because the long term benefits outweigh the risks, and the bariatric surgeon agrees. He ordered an endoscopy and a sleep study, and said we donât have to make a final decision on the procedure until they are actually submitting to insurance and scheduling it. The programâs pre-op nutrition and psych classes are the same regardless. I havenât been able to find much information about treating arthritis after wls, except for some research stating the patients with RA can sometimes go off their meds entirely because fat functions as an inflammatory organ, and reducing it greatly reduces inflammation in the body. Has anyone here had an experience with this?
2023.03.25 17:24 haosmark Do any of you go out to bars by yourself? What's a good strategy to meet people and not feel weird if you don't see any immediate opportunities?
I'm newish in a large US city, have some "friends", but they rarely want to hang out, so yesterday I went out to a bar by myself for the first time. It was nerve-wrecking, and I didn't have any high expectations. I thought that most likely I'd just have a beer and leave within 30 minutes and that almost came true.
I picked a place that I've been to before, it has lots of dart boards, a few pool tables, and typical crowd range is early 20s to mid 30s. This time there were mostly younger people, in their early 20s, most were celebrating a birthday. I spent a little time just people watching and when I got half-way through my beer, I moved to a different section of the bar. As I was walking about, I couldn't see any any women on their own, they were mostly either paired up, or in groups of three. Romantic front looked discouraging... As I was walking through the area, I noticed that a lone guy was setting up a pool table. I walked up and asked if I can join. We played a few rounds, chatted a bit, then a new group of guys walked in, immediately walked up to us and asked to join the table. We played doubles and had some more drinks; it was fun! In between sets I wondered off to get myself a beer and struck up a conversation with 3 girls, but I think they were too young for me, so I didn't feel like staying for longer than it took to get the bartender to get me my drink. The night ended up being a lot better than I expected, but I can't help but feel that I got lucky. Had I not spotted the guy setting up the pool table by himself, I would have downed my beer and left within 10 minutes with a semi-defeated feeling clouding my mind.
What's a good strategy to meet people and not feel awkward if you don't see any immediate opportunities?
Also, when I first walked in, and decided on a spot at the bar, there was a group of three girls next to me, talking. I would sometimes look in their direction, for a brief moment, and one of them would always look back at me. I feel like I could have somehow joined them, but felt awkward about having to interrupt whoever was talking. Any good ideas on how to join an active conversation, without rudely interrupting?
I want to try going out solo again, but a little afraid that it won't work out next time. I had this happen to me on solo vacations. First trip I meet a lot of people, then coming back a year or so later, and it's one of the most boring trips ever.
2023.03.25 17:16 SirGioArmani Was AB5 created before AB4?
i always thought it was really weird that analogue bubblebath 5 ends with cuckoo from ab4, in the exact same version. then i read someone claiming he actually wrote ab5 first, but decided it wasn't good enough and discarded it all except for cuckoo. ab4 was supposedly him going back to the drawing board.
this actually seems less weird to me than the idea of rdj ending an ep with a trax he'd already released in the same ep series. however, i've not been able to find any info on this.
have any of you ever heard about this?
i haver to admit, i always had a hard time believing ab5 was made in the same year as stuff like ICBYD and HAB...94 or 93 would make more sense in my mind.
what's the original source for the 95 date? i guess rdj himself, though that doesn't mean it's right necessarily right...
2023.03.25 17:15 Po2i I won my first game of semi-blindfolded chess!
So I play chess quite a bit with my wife, and we came up with multiple ideas to make it fun despite the skill difference while playing otb (playing with less pieces, or allowing her to switch the board once in the game) but we had to come up with something new in long-distance chess.
And this idea was: semi-blindfolded chess! I'm allowed to keep my eyes open, but I can only look at a picture of the chess starting position. I call my move on voice chat, and she answer hers, while actually moving pieces for both sides (for example, in an analysis board on
chess.com or
lichess.org )
This is a lot of fun, it helps you practice the name of the squares, and who knows, after a bit of training you might be able to play fully blindfolded !
(for the record, I'm just a 1100 beginner, it's not that hard to do :D)
