So many numbers, so little time

2012.07.30 01:04 So many numbers, so little time

Many physicians, mid-level providers, practice managers, administrators, billers and front desk staff members have questions about coding. Today's demand for certified professional coders (CPCs) is growing as many jobs in the coding and billing field now require certification. Health care professionals involved in coding, compliance, billing, administration and reimbursement aspects of medicine should be certified as part of a compliance program.

Personal statement (7.5-8/10): Connected my passion for lifting with computer science. Tried my best to not make it like a cliché "gym" essay where I got an injury or smth and the struggles of that... didn't write any of that. It was more personal into how this daily activity shapes who I am as a person and links to other aspects in my life.

Additional Information (REFLECTION):
This is my almost my 2nd anniversary since I discovered A2C/Chanceme/collegeresults. As a disillusioned sophomore student, I was so shocked to see the other people's applications, especially the CS students. USACO Plat. International awards. T20 Research. Internships. I had no idea these opportunities even existed beyond the overtly competitive atmosphere that is present around these subreddits. I really had to start ramping things up during my junior year to "catch up" with all these other CS students but ultimately I ended up being an "average" student compared to some of the monster applications I've seen on here before. You'll notice that I had no "hooks" for my extracurriculars. I think my extracurriculars were definitely one of my weakest points of my app.
As for this year's college admissions process, I think it was pretty tough. Record lows for several top universities. CS definitely being oversaturated nowadays made entry even more difficult for the schools that I applied to. Intl makes it 10x worse. I can't find the link right now but a couple months back, someone posted the acceptance rates for top 20 CS schools and they were pretty much all <5%. Absolutely crazy. I learned that the application process is literally the lottery, and it's the numbers game you have to play in order to have somewhat successful results.
My essays weren't any spectacular works either. I spent a fair amount of time on them, but it was certainly difficult to manage ~50+ college essays while studying for first term mock exams and doing two IAs and an EE in the same month (IB students know my struggle 😤). One thing I look back on and hoped that I did was starting sooner. I spent my summer not doing much work besides studying for the SAT. I wish I spent the hours that I wasted on the essays.
With that being said, I am definitely proud of myself in getting into UMich. It was definitely one my top schools to attend, and I am very honored that I have the opportunity to attend.
If you're a sophomore or a junior like I once was, I want to give you my three most important advice that I can give to find success in your college process.
  1. Do NOT compare yourself to other applications you see on here or on chanceme. As a matter of fact, you should minimize the time you spend on here. I think it's a toxic environment to be in considering the idea that you're constantly in the mindset where you have to be competing against these absolute monstrous academic weapons to attend the school you want to go to. It's not a bad idea to see what you're up against, but if you're constantly on here thinking whether you're "good enough"... you got other problems to worry about. Work hard, do not take the chance to be lazy, and be resilient to the inevitable problems you will face throughout your high school years.
  2. START EARLY. I can't emphasize this enough. I know that some people on here might disagree with this point, saying that you should enjoy your time throughout high school, and you don't need to dedicate your entire life towards the admissions process. Yes, that advice is true, but I hold the belief that you should not neglect the things that need to be done. If you had the chance to start first in a race and get an advantage, why would you not go first?
  3. If I could give my biggest piece of advice, it would be this. KEEP MOVING FORWARD. There will be days when you don't feel like writing supplemental essays, and there will be days where you get a bad grade in your calc test and now you're unmotivated to do anything else. You must keep moving forward. When a rocket is flying out towards space, it doesn't stop in the middle. There will always be new mountains to climb, but they won't be climbed if you don't keep walking.
Hopefully my words and my thoughts will have some value to whoever stuck through and read through my little rant/reflection. If you have any questions for me, please feel free to shoot me a DM! I would love to help out. Lastly...
GO BLUE 💙💛

2023.04.01 06:19 DreamingInCassardis Can't install anything and error code 807B01F7

I heard Sonic 06 got rereleased on 360 so I dusted it off for the first time in about 6 months.
I bought Sonic 06 and it went to active downloads and just sat at 0 for a bit before it said it couldn't be installed.
I went to my storage and deleted the Sonic the Hedgehog files which were reading at about 5 GB (which is about how much the full game is).
I tried reinstalling it from my download history and it got stuck at 0 for about 10 minutes until I decided to stop the download and start over again.
At this point, Sonic 06 would alternate between saying I hadn't purchased it at all (it gave me the option to buy it instead of download it and when I clicked buy, it started downloading?) and allowing me to download again.
At some point I also started getting error code 807B01F7 when I would open my account settings, which I looked up and found that Xbox has seemingly been having issues in the last few days according to this subreddit.
Are there any fixes for this or am I just stuck waiting for Microsoft?

2023.04.01 06:18 laserman320 Hello My Capitian (El Capitan Functionality and Dev Apps)

Hello everyone here and near at MacOS
I'm a stupid College student Majoring in C.I.S. (Computer information Systems) and Minoring in Creative Writing. Currently I have a work-study at my school's I.T. Department where I handle their minor stuff. (Repairs, Projection setups, Zoom Room meetings, Reseting older machines for use/upgrades, ETC)
I've been mainly using windows all of my life with some experience in MacOs (Specifically Catalina, Monterey, Ventura, and High Sierra) and Linux (One of them)
Right now I'm looking to diversify my overall skillet and general knowledge, so I went onto Ebay and was able to a get a functioning Mid 2009 Macbook Pro (IT STILL HAS IT'S OPTICAL DRIVE AND 500 CYCLES ON THE BATTERY) (Should probably replace the battery but it seems to last up to 5 hours on a full charge)
and as of right now I was able to upgrade the Mac with 8GB of RAM and instal El Capitan 10.11.6 with plans to upgrade it with an SSD and possibly push it to running Monterey.
(According to macupgrades, I can use "OpenCore Legacy Patcher", not sure what the specifications are of that exactly but it would be fun to experiment. Here's the link: https://www.macupgrades.co.uk/store/mac/MC118LL-A#ram)

But before any of that, I'm actually curious what apps if any can still work on this device from the App store. See when I open the app store, it only shows applications that are only available for Ventura. (I believe before that I try to download Pages and it said that I needed MacOSX 13.11, and I don't think thats a thing)
If nothing on the app store still supports this mac, then I'm curious about applications that may be worth having for the sake of productivity and general goofing off. specifically development apps and coding tools (Or just fun stuff in general that may be fun to tinker with.)

If there really isn't anything worthwhile that's left here, then I'll wait until I upgrade this with a SSD before pushing a higher OS on this, and At that point I'll be curious about the tools and other junk I can get there.
Any all help, lists, and general feedback is greatly appreciated.

Started playing in early 2000s, like so many of you, at about 12 years old. 4 years later I made a halfway functional pindlebot with C++, that used pickit. Now I've been coding professionally for over 10 years. Diablo games, in general, shaped my life and career. It's been a wonderful ride. Just wanted to say thank you, all of you.

Hello, I have been using it for months now and I really like it. It keeps track of credit card bills, fidelity investments, robinhood, and even venmo. The app also provides great categorization option (you can spilt your bill in order to input each item — e.g for $10 safeway bill you can do $3.99 milk, $0.99 strawberry yogurt, etc), budgeting for each categories, and rollover option (rollover the expense from last month to this month and the future). I like it so far and would love other people to get involved if you get started your personal finance journey!

Penn (Math) (previously deferred)

Final Reflection:
Considering that all of my waitlists are soft rejections, it's probably a wrap for me. I will either be committing to UCI or UMD.
Looking back I probably overestimated my chances at top schools/CS schools. My ECs besides #1 were not really up to mark and I had very few CS ECs. Besides that, my profile is pretty solid in terms of stats and awards. While I do recognize that it is hard to get into these schools for my major with my demographic, I have to admit that much of my failure was my own doing.
In freshman and sophomore year I was more invested in getting good grades, studying comp math, playing the trumpet, and playing basketball for fun. The issue was that I didn't know until junior year when I visited A2C for the first time that my profile was a dime a dozen for my demographic. I tried to do things to build up a stronger profile such as gaining leadership in clubs and applying to top math programs which I was able to do successfully. However, this push was too little, too late. If I had known about A2C earlier, I would have been able to include more elite summer programs and CS internships or research on my profile which would have maybe pushed me over the edge at some of these schools.
For freshman and sophomores, especially of my demographic, do not listen to the advice of people that tell you to pursue things that you find fun. It is absolute horsecrap. These top schools are absolutely unforgiving and they reject thousands of people that follow this advice every year. Instead, chase excellence at whatever you are interested in doing. Become one of the best at it and find a way to showcase your skills. This could be olympiads, research competitions, showcases, etc. If you are able to show off a spike in one area, AO's are much more likely to be impressed with your application. Additionally, you will naturally be more passionate about these areas and write very meaningful essays.
Another thing I learned the hard way is that olympiads are only worth it if you reach a very high level. While some people might be impressed with a 3x AIME qualifier, it is absolutely normal for an AO to see this on hundreds of applications every year and it really doesn't stand out. It's more of a supplemental thing than anything else. Hell even my USABO camper friend, literally a top 20 high school student in biology, got shafted at these top schools.
With all being said, I am absolutely not concerned with how I will perform at whatever school I choose. I still have amazing options. UMD, UW Madison, and Purdue are all T20 CS programs and UCI is an amazing in state option. The problem solving skills I learned over the hours and hours of comp math studying will most likely serve me well long term in this field. I just feel a little disappointed that I wasn't able to reach my maximum potential. That is all.
