2023.03.29 08:15 froggojumper I can't do anything for my birthday again because my siblings are filthy

I'm so fucking tired. Every time I wanna have someone over I can't because if they come over and my fat fuck for an older brother walks out shirtless they'll see him and laugh. He's so ficking fat that his tits are bigger than mine, he hasn't gotten a haircut in years, he doesn't shave, he only eats fast food from uber eats. He's fucking disgusting and I'm ashamed. Then there's my sister. My filthy fucking grub of a sister. All I wanted this year was to have 1 friend over for my birthday. That was all I fucking wanted. We never do anything for my birthday. We just sit at home, go out to get McDonald's and then eat a cheap cake from woollies. All I wanted this year was to have my friend come over and join in because then it wouldn't be so fucking boring and miserable but no I can't because my sister being the filthy fuck she is can't keep her fat, grubby, stubby, nubby sausage looking fingers out of her nasty ass overgrown nostrils and now we have to disinfect the house because she has a staaf infection. We never do anything for my birthday and I finally got the all clear to finally have someone to spend it with and I can't because my sisters a nasty cunt. I'm so tired of it. Every year I'm told we can do something for my birthday and then nothing happens because something always happens with my sister. We always have to stop anything I wanna do to accommodate her. She's not even younger than me either. She's a senior in highschool and she still picks her nose. She's fucking disgusting and I'm so done with it. All I want is to do something for my birthday like we always do for them but noooo my sisters a nasty fucking grub and now we can't do anything. I just wanted to have a friend over. That was all I asked for. Just to hang out with my friend for one fucking day. I can't do that now because my sisters a walking plastic bag of horse piss. I can't do anything AGAIN because she's fucking filthy. It's not just on my birthday either. I can't have my friends over on the weekends, the holidays, anything and it's either because my sister invited her whole friend group and my parents don't wanna watch an extra kid or because of shit like this. It's fucking annoying and I'm the one that gets yelled at for it.

2023.03.29 08:14 Actually_Vyror 27 [M4F] Wait! Stop! Can you smile?

See how cute you are when you smile? You just lit up the whole room! .^
Hiya! The names Aaron. 27M from USA KY. I'm happy with sharing pictures later on, but I'm 5'10, white, short dark hair, chubby, and wear glasses.
I'm really hoping to find someone who, in a sense, makes me feel complete. A missing puzzle piece to a perfect, beautiful picture. I live a stable life, I have a good job, pay my bills on time, got a house and car, in just missing someone to share it all with.
Some of my hobbies are:
-Video Games: this is where I spend most of my days. Currently I'm jumping around, but some of my favorite games are WoW, FFXIV, Phasmophobia, Apex Legends, Persona, Pokemon, Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Conan Exiles.
-Reading: I love to read. Fantasy is by far my favorite, but I can also enjoy a good sci-fi or romance. I'm also quite fond of manga and webtoons. I'm always buying new books to sit on my shelf. It's like my dragon hoard.
-Anime: I do watch some anime, but not nearly as much as I use too. A few of my favorites though are Grimgar no Ash, Steins Gate, Monster, and Code Geass.
Writing/DnD: I combined these because I love to write, and I often use my stories as campaigns in DnD. Forever DM here. Always looking for people to share my ideas with!
Sooo with that, I hope something here catches your eye. I mostly use discord for messaging:). I thank you for reading this far! I'll keep the food warm!

2023.03.29 08:12 splendid_diana 39 [F4M] #California - Looking to find someone younger for a relationship.

Hey! I’m looking for a relationship with someone younger . The closest I’ve seen anyone describe the kind of relationship I’m looking to find is “girlfriend/boyfriend or cougababy ” kind of relationship.
I'm looking for something more enduring and rewarding with a person who shares my interests. I want to be the closest friend in whom you can confide, share crazy jokes, witty banter, continually learn from one another, make memories with, and be that forever safe haven.
I like nerdy stuff, baking, watching movies, reading books, and eating sour foods. taking pets on walks, participating in sports, travelling, upcycling, and volunteering. I love having deep, meaningful talks and learning from others. I have a job and am trying to become a better person overall. I am undoubtedly still searching for myself, but I would appreciate some company.
I am open to sharing more personal information once compatibility has been established because I am seeking a genuine grownup relationship with shared interests. In my search for my soul mate, I hope to find someone who enjoys dating older people as much as I do dating younger ones. Respect for one another and communication are vital to me. I'm hoping to meet someone who is truly drawn to me and wants the whole person, not just "that" portion.
Although I hope to meet someone close by, I am aware that, in such a conservative place, this may not be possible. Having saying that, I'm open to an LDR but must reside in USA.
Low effort responses will be disregarded because I tried my best to make an effort to describe a little bit about myself. Anyone who is married, in a committed relationship, unavailable, just looking for a hookup, or looking to play online is categorically not someone I am interested in. I don't want to be anyone's fallback, love interest, or GFE. I'm not looking for somebody with a lifeless bedroom, a judgmental wife or girlfriend, etc. I'm not here to assist you in exploring or exiting. I just want to love and be loved at the end of the day. I don't want a relationship where I have to beg and bribe the other person to love me, let alone with someone who will never desire me in the way I want them.
The aim has always been to experience love without fear or shame. I've never been in a relationship where I could be who I really am, love and be loved the way I want to and the way I know it should and can be.
I appreciate you reading my post. Let's begin a chat if you think you would be a good match.

2023.03.29 08:00 Then_Emotion9548 Please help me figure out my type

I don't really trust online tests, and I've read so much about cognitive functions that I can't think clearly anymore lol
I'd appreciate any ideas on what my type can be. I'm not giving any test results here on purpose.
Thanks in advance!
• How old are you? What's your gender? Give us a general description of yourself.
I'm 30, female. A simple person, from what I know, but it's more of my personal preferences of the way I live my life. Minimalist tendencies with a lot of contradictions. Changing my mind on a daily basis and confusing people by doing so. Following new leads when searching for myself and my place in the world while being completely incapable of seeing myself.
• Is there a medical diagnosis that may impact your mental stability somehow?
Not that I know of. Might be anxiety, but I've managed to cope with it (sometimes still failing). Periods of perfectionism are followed by a laid-back attitude and complete lack of responsibility whatsoever.
• Describe your upbringing. Did it have any kind of religious or structured influence? How did you respond to it?
Not much influence here. I was allowed to do whatever I wanted most of the time apart from some conflicts that greatly affected my personality and self-esteem. Such as when my parents made me dance when I wanted to go to music school instead. No particular religion or clear beliefs either. I'd say that it was selective freedom of choice; when their interests didn't conflict with mine, things were just fine, and it could be quite depressing when the opposite was the case.
• What do you do as a job or as a career (if you have one)? Do you like it? Why or why not?
I'm a freelance translator, working from home since 2019 for obvious reasons. I don't like it much, it's just tolerable. What I've always wanted was music, but my parents wouldn't pay for my education in this case. So, I chose the easiest thing for me at the time - languages. Now I'm in a really good place where I can do stuff from home to get enough money for food and bills and spend most of my time playing a bunch of instruments (the only thing minimalism doesn't apply to in my life lmao).
• If you had to spend an entire weekend by yourself, how would you feel? Would you feel lonely or refreshed?
I would feel lonely first when completely on my own. I'm from a small town, and it happens a lot. But I would still spend a lot of time chatting with people online or calling my friends from other cities. At some point, I would get so involved with music that I would forget to reply to anyone I was talking to and get lost for a couple of hours to be back in a while... or not lol
• What kinds of activities do you prefer? Do you like, and are you good at sports? Do you enjoy any other outdoor or indoor activities?
I've never been good at sports because of my health issues, and the only kinds of sport I've ever liked to watch were those that would match my "personal aesthetics". Movement and beauty is the best combo, if you ask me. I've enjoyed hiking a lot though, still do. Love long walks and spending time in nature. Even better if with my guitar!
• How curious are you? Do you have more ideas then you can execute? What are your curiosities about? What are your ideas about - is it environmental or conceptual, and can you please elaborate?
I do have a lot of ideas, and I've always been struggling to prioritize. Honestly, only a couple of months ago, I managed to set my priorities and abandon the things I can't pursue since I simply wouldn't have enough time for it all. And I'd better be good at several things rather than mediocre at many. All my ideas are tangible, more like acquiring skills and learning new information I can actually use in real life. Some are like lucid dreaming that I've been reading a lot about lately as I love experiments of any sort, and I'd really love to try it!
• Would you enjoy taking on a leadership position? Do you think you would be good at it? What would your leadership style be?
Nope, I hate the very idea of taking responsibility for others, and that's what leadership positions imply. However, I'm pretty sure I'd be good at it, the problem here is that I would get disappointed by something at some point (like low quality of people's work) and lash out. That seems inevitable, so, I stay out of it.
• Are you coordinated? Why do you feel as if you are or are not? Do you enjoy working with your hands in some form? Describe your activity?
Hard to say. I've tried knitting, love these things and really want to make and wear some! I've never had enough patience though. What I know for sure is that I'd definitely prefer to work with my hands rather than spending my time "intellectualizing" things and analyzing.
• What's your opinion about the past, present, and future? How do you deal with them?
I greatly value the present moment and use the past and future when required for making the present moment more significant, if that makes sense. I don't like the idea of being stuck somewhere rather than in the here and now and missing out on things in life to regret it late. So, the future - for general direction only, the past - rarely referred to, mostly for information on the things I tried and liked, and wanted to do again at some point.
• How do you act when others request your help to do something (anything)? If you would decide to help them, why would you do so?
My first natural response is to rush in and start doing whatever it takes to help anyone (literally anyone, caused a lot of trouble in the past). I'm doing my best not to get involved these days if I can help it. I wouldn't know the reason why I do so, it's as natural to me as breathing, but it always turns out to be too much.
• Do you need logical consistency in your life?
I might need it, but I wouldn't rely solely on logic in all the matters. I'd go for a balance. Some things might be logically consistent, but when relying only on this factor, one fails in the end as the world isn't logical most of the time. It's like expecting others to follow some script created by one person, which is not happening.
• How important is efficiency and productivity to you?
Productivity is overrated. It might seem appealing, but the problem with it is that it doesn't provide the results everyone needs it for. That's the reason why there are so many tips and tricks out there, intended to make you productive. What is important is the feeling of that you've moving in the right direction, which is a personal thing, not some objective parameter. One can be efficient only having got into their own flow of life.
• Do you control others, even if indirectly? How and why do you do that?
I used to be more controlling in the past, especially as a child. Don't remember much about it, that's what my parents used to say about me. For now, "live and let live". I'm accepting yet protective of my personal beliefs/space.
• What is your learning style? What kind of learning environments do you struggle with most? Why do you like/struggle with these learning styles? Do you prefer classes involving memorization, logic, creativity, or your physical senses?
From the VAK test, I'm 80% kinesthetic, 15% auditory and 5% visual. As for learning environments, I'd hate the approaches lacking interaction or practical tasks to do on my own. Or not challenging enough as I start to get distracted and consequently distract others around me. So, my preferences are physical senses and creativity, logic is fine, but memorization is not for me (when I have to do this thing, I create a bunch of associations just to have some fun, e.g. the notes make shapes, let's see what shapes are there)
• How good are you at strategizing? Do you easily break up projects into manageable tasks? Or do you have a tendency to wing projects and improvise as you go?
I've always been struggling with strategizing. I try to occasionally develop some strategy, more like a rough direction to take, but even if I break up projects into manageable tasks, I'll never follow through until I get the right feeling for it (which never happens if it's a plan). So, I improvise while having some direction of where I want to be in the end without thinking much of the result, just doing my best at the moment and making choices on the go.
• What are your aspirations in life, professionally and personally?
I have only one passion in life, which is music, and all I want is to eventually have a job, related to it in a way, while saving enough time for music practice. Nothing like a proper career and stuff.
• What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why?
FOMO. I'm terrified at the thought of that I might wake up when I'm old and realize that I didn't use my chances in life. That makes me hate everything that might affect me in such a way so that I didn't follow my dreams.
• How attached are you to reality? Do you daydream often, or do you pay attention to what's around you? If you do daydream, are you aware of your surroundings while you do so?
I'm a quite realistic person with a natural curiosity. I used to daydream more when I was younger, but it almost never happens these days. I never seem to have time for that, and if I do, something catches my attention and I start doing things, saying to myself that I might think about it later.
• Imagine you are alone in a blank, empty room. There is nothing for you to do and no one to talk to. What do you think about?
I'd be pretty restless and use this time for something I could be doing there. Workouts? Meditation? I wouldn't be thinking much though, thinking is depressing, especially in such a setting.
• How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you've made it?
It depends on my mood. Most of the time I will make decisions right away based on the feeling of the moment. If the outcome is critical, I might take time to think and talk to others, but in the end, I wouldn't stick 100% with any decision as I can change it any moment, no problem here
• Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why?
I often do, but only when it's some small talk or something insignificant. However, I can become furious when the conversation is about something that is critical to me, and someone would try to convince me of that they are right. Nope. Not happening. I'm very stubborn in such situations.
• Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better? If you do break rules, why?
I do when they don't make sense. And they almost never make sense to me. The reason why I break them is to make sure my personal space is not affected by some ridiculous regulations while at the same time making sure it's not going to hurt anyone in the process.

2023.03.29 07:56 StepwiseUndrape574 Rockstar Remastering GTA 5 For Xbox And PS5 In Glorious 4K60 With Ray Tracing

Did you imagine when Grand Theft Auto V came out for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2013, that we'd be seeing a fresh retail re-release of it nine years later? Much like The Elder Scrolls Part V: Skyrim—which hails from the same era—GTA V has been an enduring success and is about to get its third re-release.
There's no fancy subtitle or name change; Grand Theft Auto V is coming to PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series XS consoles on March 15th. That's not to say it's exactly the same experience, though. The versions for the current-gen consoles support 60 FPS, HDR output, ray-tracing, "improved texture quality," faster loading times, "immersive 3D audio," and support for platform-specific features, like the PS5's DualSense haptics.
gtaonline carwash Specifically, there will be a fidelity mode that targets native 3840×2160 resolution with ray tracing and a 30 FPS cap. (Xbox Series S will use upscaling to hit 4K.) Before you sneer at that, note that console versions of GTA V have always had a 30 FPS cap—until now: the new release's "performance mode" will target 60 FPS with dynamic resolution scaling up to 4K, but without ray tracing.
Most interesting to the majority of gamers will probably be the "Performance RT" mode. This mode, available only on the PS5 and Series X, is basically just performance mode with ray tracing enabled. Most likely, it will simply use a lower dynamic resolution to achieve higher-than-30 FPS while keeping ray tracing features. Depending on the upscaling method Rockstar uses, this mode could still look quite good.
Of course, the whole reason that Grand Theft Auto V is still the sensation that it is lies in its online mode. Rockstar has always talked about Grand Theft Auto Online as if it were an entirely separate game, and that's understandable given the differences in their content. But after the re-release launches, it will in fact be available as an entirely separate game—and it'll be free for the first three months after launch on PS5.
gtaonline fukaru The technical changes to Grand Theft Auto V largely apply here, although there's probably still not going to be any animals in Online. Instead, Rockstar is implementing several content updates for the re-launch. The Los Santos Car Meet expansion is getting an expansion of its own called Hao's Special Works, and a "Career Builder" feature will be available for fresh characters to help them get a foothold in Los Santos' seedy underbelly.
If you're already an accomplished crime boss in GTA V or GTA Online using an older console version, you can transfer your progress to the new systems. For story mode, open the game and go to "Game" in the pause menu, then select "Upload Save Game" to send it to the Rockstar Social Club cloud servers. GTA Online progress will transfer automatically, although Rockstar cautions players that purchased GTA$ won't transfer across platforms (i.e. PlayStation to Xbox, or vice versa.)
You'll be able to start playing the remastered version of GTA V on March 15, with physical copies coming available In April. We asked Rockstar when these changes would be coming to the PC version, but haven't heard back yet. We'll update this story when we do.

2023.03.29 07:56 roberestarkk Text to Speech Testing

There is a certain aura, a cultural meme, regarding the United Nations Armed Forces. A very particular version of events that is peddled across the galaxy, generally the result of an interstellar game of telephone. This aura is that of an unflinching, uncaring war machine. One that starts with the goal of total destruction of its opponents, and works towards that by any means necessary.
It is easy to see how this came about. Even putting aside the pre-Contact War conflicts, there is plenty of brutality to be found. The exploits of Spearhead Platoon during the Second Hekatian War, fighting it's way from the Susquehanna to the palace of the Hekatian Emperor, has particularly dominated the popular consciousness for many, and it is difficult to argue they did not experience some of the worst the war had to offer. A still frame of Corporal Heppell, gas mask concealing all but his eyes, half a second away from plunging his plasma-enhanced bayonet into a Hekatian platoon commander, has become one of the most reproduced images of the whole Battle of New York.
While plasma bayonets were only issued to a small portion of British units during the Second Hekatian War, melee fighting still occupied a disturbingly high proportion of the wars with the Hekatians a modern war. The Battle of London (both 2021 and 2025) saw civilians armed with little more than axes and clubs achieving at least some success against mechanised Hekatian forces in the tight urban confines of the city, with their contributions in the Second Hekatian War forming a part of the critical force that halted the Hekatian offensive. Less well commemorated, but by no means less brave, was the near-complete annihilation of the 8th Battalion Rajputana Rifles in the opening phases of the Battle of New Delhi. Caught out-of-position by the surprise landing of Hekatian forces, the soldiers rushed into battle against a far-superior Hekatian force. By the day's end, only 3 soldiers survived from the entire ordeal, but their counterattacks, waged with everything from rifles to chunks of rubble used as clubs, successfully held up the better part of a division for some critical hours. Doubtless similar stories exist across every front of the war.
Infantry fought with all manner of weapons, with KPA forces famously utilising shovels and large quantities of grenades while fighting from trench to trench on the slopes of Mt. Paektu. During the later stages of the Battle of New York, Gurkha units roamed the irradiated rubble of the city, wielding plasma-enhanced kukris: this was so extraordinarily effective that Hekatian units in the Brooklyn area had a bounty set on the weapons, on the basis that each collected meant another of the feared soldiers had been eliminated, and that soldiers would be more watchful in hopes of collecting said bounty. The actual effect was that the number of losses credited to Gurkha units went up, as their soldiers (now aware of just how effective they were) delved deeper and deeper into psychological warfare. Meanwhile, Hekatian soldiers became so jumpy that they often exposed themselves to Human forces by firing away at nonexistent targets, and were so nervous as to lose all composure when engaged. When the United Nations counterattack successfully trapped a large quantity of supply-starved Hekatians in the radioactive ruins of New York, an intimidation campaign of such ferocity was launched that even a century later headless Hekatians are occasionally located within the New York area.
There are, of course, other ways to be brutal than a bayonet or bullet.
The Second Hekatian War, for example, saw the mass deployment of nerve gas against Hekatian forces landing in Southern England, with this considered to be the single deadliest event in the history of warfare (excluding attacks targeted at civilian populations). True numbers on the death toll are hard to come by, but it is estimated these attacks alone killed roughly 100,000 Hekatians, unprepared for the gas as they were exiting their ships, with an unknown number severely wounded. This is at present the only confirmed deployment of chemical weapons in either war: rumours persist of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea having used significant quantities during the fighting across the Korean Peninsula, and into Northeastern China. To this day, neither the People’s Republic of China, nor the Korean Federal Republic have confirmed these rumours, and all files regarding the status of the DPRK’s chemical arsenal have been sealed away until 2155.
Chemical weapons were not the only weapons of mass destruction brought out in desperate defence of Earth. Biological weapons were deployed, albeit in significantly less flashy ways. Though continuously denied by the United Nations to this day, all evidence indicates that a modified form of Tularemia was deployed against Hekatian forces in the United States. By all accounts, this was extraordinarily effective in shattering Hekatian morale, along with generally degrading their ability to resist United Nations counterattacks. This disease, relatively minor as far as biological weapons go, was generally non-lethal, and thus believed acceptable to be used against the Hekatians without causing further escalation if discovered.
Currently, there is significant reason to believe the Hekatians may have deployed biological weapons of their own, which may later have morphed into the infamous Cincinnati Flu, though this is highly controversial amongst war historians, and is believed to have occurred independently of the use of Tularemia. It is also worth noting that declassified British documents speak openly of a large stockpile of anthrax being distributed across the island at the start of the Second Hekatian War, with the intent being to release it en masse as a form of vengeance should Britain fall. Still uncertain is why, even a century after the war and the collapse of the Hekatian Stellar Imperium, several Hekatian-majority worlds (including, most infamously, Kulabaddos) semi-routinely see severe outbreaks of a disease worryingly similar to H1N1.
The most destructive WMDs in pure terms were the InterStellar Faster-than-light Missiles. Effectively the old idea of the Relativistic Kill Vehicle, except with a hyperdrive strapped to them, they saw very little use across the war, except for a few carefully calculated deployments by United Nations forces. Using stolen missiles, the Muaytrov and Hualkinov anchorages were utterly destroyed, followed by the military staging post of Traxio.
But these are not the weapons of mass destruction thought of when the Second Hekatian War springs to mind.
In the course of the Second Hekatian War, nukes were tossed around in large numbers. City after city across the United States of America fell victim to Hekatian nukes, while American strikes (generally tactical in nature, directed at concentrations of Hekatian forces and key command and control sites) usually invited yet more retaliation. Historians are unable to come to much of a conclusion on the effectiveness of this strategy by the American military, in no small part due to the difficulties of credibly predicting what would have happened without it. It is arguable that these attacks were responsible for the collapse of Hekatian morale and eventual widespread mutinies: this can also be attributed to any of hundreds of factors. It must be noted, though, that the Hekatians began the nuclear game with the destruction of Washington DC, and that ultimately all responsibility lies with them.
After the war, there was much debate on the morality of this action, rather than just the efficacy. It was declared by some that Humanity, now no longer in an existential fight for it's liberty and potentially survival, was in a "post-nuclear" age, where it could step away from these insanely destructive weapons. While this did hold for biological and chemical weapons, it simply could not for nuclear weapons, as the reality of maintaining an effective military on the interstellar scale quickly caught up. Nukes are fielded in what could be described as a liberal amount: fashioned into Nuclear Explosively Formed Projectiles or Casaba-Howitzers, they form the backbone of the Stellar Navy’s anti-ship missile arsenal. Special forces units have routinely made use of sub-kiloton devices in the Rigel Campaign, and conventional forces maintain large stockpiles for tactical usage. Even the famous SIM-94, defender of the skies, is more commonly than not fielded with a nuclear warhead of some sort.
These are carefully calculated tactical uses, yes. A Casaba-Howitzer melting a warship is a far different thing than the nuclear bombardment of Los Angeles, both in scale and morality. But most commanders do still hesitate when they order a nuclear strike in an exercise. Failsafes abound for all devices intended for anti-ship purposes to prevent their usage in other ways, while devices for use as bombs are subject to hyper-strict command-and-control procedures. ISFMs are subject to even stricter control, since their misuse could devastate an unshielded planet.

The cumulative effects of such a war have continued to be felt for decades afterwards. The Second Hekatian War is believed to be the war with the single highest rate of PTSD amongst veterans. Post-war advances in medical technology helped to at least lessen the effects of physical wounds, and the general improvement in living standards that followed the wars has significantly helped many veterans, but some things can't be solved by getting to take a holiday to space on the cheap. This is of course not to mention the refugee populations of the former United States, many of them surviving by flukes while losing their entire family. It is a horror no one seeks to experience again.
Yes, the plasma bayonet is still technically fielded by both the Territorial and Stellar Army (though, notably, not the Orbital Infantry, who solely fight in the cramped confines of space stations). But it has not been used in combat in decades, and is widely agreed to only exist because of tradition, and also as a somewhat risky means of cooking food. To the average soldier, the idea of a bayonet charge is unthinkable, not least because it means a lot has gone wrong.
When the Hekatians were at the gates in 2025, it was necessary to project a certain image. The unflinching warrior, remorseless and unplagued by questions of morality. Even at the time, this had serious problems. Now, in 2150, things are different. That image is back in the box as far as the United Nations is concerned, even as the myth continues to spread. But the thing about boxes is that you can always open them up again. The only hope is it never will be.

---Authors Notes---

Some points: the Korean Federal Republic is supposed to be the unified state that now comprises the Korean peninsula. The Rigel Campaign thing is something I have been meaning to expand on for a while now, and has been mentioned before, though not by that name. Fingers crossed I can sort out the relevant stories for that some time soon.
Some may notice that there has been a slight retconning of ISFMs here. Originally they were intended to hit their target at FTL speeds: I have spent at least a year bothered by my earlier concepts of FTL. Firstly, the problem of where they got the energy to go FTL: this was covered by a "no one knows", which was eventually meant to be "no one knows but it's being siphoned from other dead universes and for some reason can't be harnessed by other uses", which was a cop-out to be honest. The second issue was that obviously any shield to protect against this would be absurdly powerful, so absurdly powerful as to render any planet basically invulnerable to everything. Thirdly, they had an interesting effect on space battles, in that they forced them to be more conducted in orbits of planets where collateral damage would prevent the usage of ISFMs. I really like this as a concept, especially since I think it's a kinda nice inversion of how anti-ship missiles work in reality (which force ships to get further and further away), but I realised that ISFMs were basically just too good at this. So I have decided to change it slightly, so that it's closer to a "slipspace" style. ISFMs are now just RKVs with the ability to go faster than light, then they drop out slightly before hitting the target. Still very powerful but less nakedly reality breaking. The point about forcing battles to be more in orbit still stands, but now those ships could better defend themselves or evade. Basically the difference between how hypersonic weapons are portrayed against modern carriers, and their current reality: still capable but not perfect. The same change applies broadly to regular hyperdrives, but they're not really that affected.
Anyway, if you enjoy my work, please consider buying me a coffee, it helps a ton, and allows me to keep writing this sort of stuff. Alternatively, you can just read more of it.

2023.03.29 07:56 MoneyHungeryBunny Uh 😩

I had 1 half of a sandwich (I made) grapes, and baked lays chips…it was so painful during digestion I had to lay down. (I tend to get nauseous and hot) I ended up asleep the whole day and now I’m up at night in pain because of gas. I know I should eat, but the pain that comes with eating certain foods, has me discouraged right now.
I was diagnosed with Ibs years ago and now it has gotten worse. Working on changing my diet. I feel so guilty for not eating the rest of my lunch earlier.
Should I eat the rest?

2023.03.29 07:55 Illustrious-Dog1605 How to deal with being ghosted

This girl basically ghosted me after a day of us drinking. She got pretty wild and I had to sober myself up to pretty much make sure she didn’t do anything she’d regret by the morning. We only had known each for about 2 months so I was pretty keen on making sure that I didn’t break any trust and showing her that despite the stigma men have in todays society there was at least one guy that wasn’t out to be a creep or do anything crazy. Especially since she was telling me these stories of her exes and male friends who were terrible to her throughout her life. The next morning after we both slept the liquor off she asked me about what had happened the night before and I told her exactly everything she did. She was surprised and told herself that she knew now she couldn’t/shouldn’t drink so much because from what I told her she was acting like she felt that was totally out of her character. I was honest with her about the things that occurred but she still seemed skeptical about rather or not more had happened. I tried to assure her as much as I possibly can that nothing outlandish happened and that I tried taking care of her as much as I possibly could. Throughout the whole drunken ordeal, I was forcing her to chug water and eat the food that we had ordered earlier in attempts to sober her up as quickly as possibly just because I had a feeling that the whole situation could have backfired on me because… we all know that liquor and being drunk doesn’t have the best reputation.
This was the day they I realized I no longer would have drinks with a girl I’m talking to because it’s just too much of hassle when YOU can handle your liquor and the other person can’t. Anyways after she questioned my about the night before and had her moment of skepticism, we proceed to have a normal conversation as if nothing happened and then she left. I messaged her to see if she had made it home and she replied that she did… about a day or two later I messaged her again and never got a response. Now this concerned me because I feel that this was a situation where I did the correct thing by leading with honesty and being a safe space and trying to show some decency as a man but still got ghosted but I can’t understand why. Can anyone give some advice or clarity because they way I see it I’m a little confused and discouraged at the whole situation.

2023.03.29 07:54 splendid_diana [39/F] special one for me?

Hey! I’m looking for a relationship . The closest I’ve seen anyone describe the kind of relationship I’m looking to find is “girlfriend/boyfriend ” kind of relationship.
Having saying that, I'm open to an LDR.

2023.03.29 07:42 Altruistic-Cat707 Salvaging a relationship.

My first ever post so my apologies if I'm not doing it right..
My wife (33F) and I (35M) have a friend (26F) that we have grown close with over the past year and a half. Initially, she was fun and outgoing, which provided us with many good interactions and memories.
As we grew closer with her, she began to constantly interject with advice on our relationship, other friendships and careers. Often, this advice was somewhat strange and out of touch. Or generally offered a very basic solution to a complex topic that typically would not work while also being dismissive of how hard the situation really was. At first, it was more humorous than anything and seemed harmless and naive to the point we just attributed it to her lack of experience and being several years younger than us.
As this happened more and more, you could tell that she would "check out" when you were explaining the situations further as she was cuing up her next insightful comment or advice. As she became more comfortable with us, she would swiftly steer the conversation back to her own problems and issues while subtly downplaying what you were going through by sharing her hardships.
As the pattern continue she began to consistently "get onto" her boyfriend around us and seek affirmation for her stance on their own issues and drama. It seems playful but you can tell that this is the way they are at home and he is usually not wanting to have these conversations with other people which creates an uneasy environment.
Another aspect:
As an older, more established couple in our friend group with the best space for entertaining, we host the vast majority of our friend groups' social events. This can be costly when you are frequently providing food and drinks and we greatly appreciate when people help out but we know that it is part of hosting and do accept that there will be some added cost. However, when people consistently show up empty-handed and ask for food and drinks on a low-key night of playing board games or watching a movie, it can get frustrating.
We tried to subtly approach the situation by saying how much we appreciated when people did help contribute and how thoughtful it was. After a brief exchange, her final sentiment was, "some people like to host and some people like to be hosted." When we asked if we could do dinner at their place sometime, she said "if I have any extra money, I am probably going to spend it on myself or (her significant other)."
The real issue:
My wife has been dealing with an injury and two surgeries to help repair the damage, as well as mounting stress from work. Essentially, she's going through one of those hard times that life presents. As a result she has drawn back from many of her broader friendships and leans on a smaller group of friends. During this time, this friend has been trying to be there for her as much as possible, which is greatly appreciated. The problem is that she has become very competitive and combative with her during this time by disagreeing with her constantly, giving lots of unsolicited advice and making a point to highlight any time she is wrong about something. She also asks for her help and advice on things around her house and her career but rarely shows appreciation for anything she does.
With my wife's current situation, her friendship feels unrewarding and burdensome to the point that it often has a negative effect on her when they do spend time together 1 on 1. I want my wife to have a good support system and I don't want her to throw away one of the few close friends she has maintained.
TL;DR Our friend seems very self-centered and creates hostile environments for my wife and I am not sure how to help.

2023.03.29 07:36 Professional-Ear8076 I Accidentally Left Some Pulls on the Backroom Floor,,,

I don't usually pull, so I'm not very used to the whole routine. As such, I forgot to put some pulls in the pull boxes after I pulled them and threw them on the floor (it's only about 3 pet food items). They're still on the backroom floor right now because I remembered about it after clocking out and getting home. Will the morning crew realize they're pulls? Will I get in trouble for it?

2023.03.29 07:34 platoschild Controversial Take: No sympathy for Rachel in Episode 7

SPOILERS (don't read if you haven't seen Episode 7 yet):
Now first off, Rachel is definitely a tragic character. There is no argument there.
Before Episode 7, we had only seen Rachel through Toby's eyes which painted her as some sort of narcissistic, career-obsessed, high-society poser who valued her career and wealth over her kids and husband.
But her backstory, growing up as a child without parents, surrounded but ostracized by people wealthier than her, needing to feel accepted and wanted, and her traumatic experience with the OB/GYN are all extremely raw experiences. Up to this point as a viewer, I felt real sympathy for Rachel. This was truly a moment for the viewers to understand why she was the way she was. This was the first time I felt bad for her.
Then, the episode took a turn. After the divorce, the writers decided to make Rachel a boss-babe who decides to go down a spiral of hedonic pleasure in order to get some "me-time". She decides to skip work to hang out with Sam's wife, then she decides to fuck Sam (knowing he's a married man), plots with Sam to have an extramarital affair by moving to LA, basically abandons her kids, and has the luxury of going on a 4 day trip to a wellness resort.
How is the viewer supposed to feel sorry for her when she seems to have indulged in her own selfish desires, without paying any attention to her kids or her job? At the end, the writers throw in the fact that she's basically gone crazy due to Ambien and she lost her most important client after her weeks-long absence.
But the whole time, I was thinking, "Yeah, you deserved that. Look at the choices you've made so far. What did you think would happen?"
Again, I'm just sharing my thoughts but was Episode 7 supposed to be a pity episode for Rachel? Because I did not feel any for her.

2023.03.29 07:25 Electrical_Boat_8823 WIBTA if I make my roommate/longtime friend move out because he’s lazy and dirty?

I (23F) have a roommate (21M) who lives under me in a 3bd house. We've lived together for about 4 months now, and the whole experience has been terrible for me.
He claims that he was a culinary specialist in the Army, which led me to believe he was disciplined and clean. He's not sanitary at all, his room stays an absolute wreck. When he cooks, he will touch the food and then touch the cabinets and touch the doors and walls and contaminate all these surfaces with stickiness & food debris, l've asked him NUMEROUS times not to do that and that I shouldn't have to clean these surfaces everyday. He puts away visibly dirty/greasy dishes in the cabinets & has loaded dirty dishes into the dish washer on top of clean dishes because he's too lazy to unload the dishwasher. The kitchen is my biggest thing because l'm particular about the environment my food is made in, it should always be kept spotless IMO. Every time I clean the house it takes me at least 2 hours just in the kitchen going over everything that he has dirtied and reorganizing things where they should be. Like for example the pantry is setup top shelf- chips and cereal, second shelf-canned goods, third shelf-baking goods etc., and he just throws everything wherever he wants. He makes me out to seem like I'm OCD and bitchy, but just feel like 'm trying to keep a presentable house.
Our trash gets picked up every week and he's only taken the bins to the curb maybe a handful of times since he's lived here. The main hallway bathroom always stays a mess, and l've told him that even though that is considered his bathroom it is still a bathroom that is supposed to be kept in good shape so guests can use it when they come over. He sleeps on the furniture in the living room (which is mine) even when l've asked him not to many times because it wears the cushions down.. There's MANY other things, but I didn't want to make the post that long & you get the point. I'd hate to ask him to move out because I feel like it would ruin our friendship, and I also felt like I should help him transition from being in the army to real adult life. I think I'm at a breaking point, but before I proceed, WIBTA?

2023.03.29 07:18 helloitsiman Ten days after vaccination my cats become lethargic and anorexic

She was completely fine when we first brought her home, for about 8 or 9 days. She's 12, and it's now been 2 whole days she's been extremely lethargic and refuses to eat or drink. She's extremely weak, her body is twitchy like she can't keep her head up. She's refusing food and water unless I put it on my wrist for her, and when she does lick something off me she licks her lips repeatedly after.
She's typically really headstrong and she's got a bit of a temper, so to see her so lifeless is really freaking me out.
The vets here don't open until Sunday, and I've sent him a message asking if this is a normal reaction. We're going into day 3 and I cant see this continuing for another 3 until the vets get going.
I need help. Has anyone seen this reaction before? I can't even begin to fathom the cause.

2023.03.29 07:15 LiquidBomber I sworn in at MEPS

Hey all
I’m going to be blunt and ask, is there anyway I can back out while currently being processed in the DEP? They told me I’m gonna have to go back for a second time and do a final inspection before I go to Boot Camp and my main question is is there any way I can just say I changed my mind and pursue something I really wanted to do.
So recently I was at meps for two days and I did my PICAT verification alongside my full physical. After doing so I managed to pass everything and got the go ahead to do the ceremony. I did the whole fingerprints and signed my enlistment contract for the DEP, but it hasn’t hit me until I was on the way home taking the shuttle. That I had plans to do other things in my life and pursue such a career that can help me stay at home.

2023.03.29 07:12 V_LEE96 This sub has gone full on insane (Amazon rant)

How in the world are people in this sub upvoting these asinine posts about Amazon interest being FUD? Using conspiratorial buzzwords like "they" to describe shadow bankers of using Amazon as a means to rug pull....do you people seriously believe this?
Before y'all downvote me to oblivion let me say this, I've been here since before the $72 spike and have bought more since, I've bought AMC and APE throughout and is staying here no matter what. That being said, seeing AMC stock price rise on acquisition speculation is the most basic news as news can get. Look at whole foods' stock price when there was Amazon speculation, or Twitter when Elon wanted to buy it, hell even BABA is up after news of splitting into 6 companies. I know there's foul play with the naked shorting but the Amazon interest IS NOT foul play.
And to those that says Amazon acquiring AMC doesn't make sense...are you dumb? It make perfect sense for them to vertically integrate AMC theatres along with Amazon Studios. To add, with Apple committing a billion to theatre centric movies, it only stands to reason that Amazon may want to do this too, and to solve distribution issues by gee, I don't know, OWNING THEIR OWN THEATRE CHAIN????
So please, I repeat, I WANT AMC to moon, but either subredditors like me need to call out dumb posts or moderators gotta do a better job moderating posts here, or we run the risk of just entertaining retarded posts in this sub that rivels that of WallStreebets, except posts here aren't ironic but serious.

2023.03.29 07:11 throwawayawsm7 33 [M4F] Vancouver BC - Thirty, flirty, and my back kinda hurty ✨

I'm 6'2", fit, career-driven, and liberal. I'd describe myself as a chatty and open-minded introvert who enjoys getting to know new people and has a penchant for dad jokes. I'm looking for something fun and lightweight at the moment and open to most things as long as they don't involve a huge time or emotional commitment. I'll try most things.. twice!
Here are a few things I enjoy in no particular order:
  1. All the standard BC things: Cycling, Hiking, Coffee, Flannels, Hazy IPAs, you get the idea
  2. Food and drinks: Trying out new restaurants, dive bars, and microbreweries
  3. Movies & TV: I basically know every fact and fan theory about GoT (try me) and it would be fun to nerd out while binging House of Dragons
  4. Fitness & workouts: I'm trying to be more intentional about prioritizing my fitness goals and workout fairly regularly. I'd love an accountability partner! While I mostly stick to strength training these days, I'd also be down for runs, bike rides, or walks around the seawall.
No expectations beyond sharing a laugh and enjoying a fun evening out. Let's get coffee/drinks and see if we vibe!
