I’m not comparing the album to Wasting Light as they are completely different albums with completely different meanings/purposes, I’m simply saying that a FF album hasn’t captivated me from front to back like But Here We Are has since Wasting Light.
I knew this album was gonna be incredible, but I don’t think I was prepared for how incredible. Greg Kurstin’s production on the last few albums has kinda been hit or miss with me, but he did a great job with this album. The fuzz feel on some of these tracks, the way those snare hits feel massive in the perfect moments, the way all of the instruments fit together perfectly, god damn incredible job.
I think this album has some of the rawest, pure, emotional lyrical content Dave has ever written and I love it. It’s a true, poetic and beautiful depiction of a journey through grief that is enhanced by the depth of the melodic instrumentation from track to track.
This album was everything a fan of the band could expect and more. It was sad, heartbreaking, uplifting, hopeful and a truly awesome listen.

Probably not a ‘game’ question, but any good ways to let off steam when you lose a bad match and the survivors are just being toxic? I’m ok at killer (Gold II currently) and been getting matches with some really skilled survivors, but it may just be me being bad or the killers I play, but it seems like I’m getting more toxic survivors now that I used too(t-bagging at gates or in the open to get my attention, flashing lights to chase them instead, etc). This is leading to me slowly starting to get less fun out of playing the game. I know it’s my fault for letting them get to me, but I can get angry really quickly. Been taking 5-10 minute breaks per few matches to help with it, but I’m always finding myself getting worse and worse over the day & getting even more mad. I’ve only DC’d in a few matches that really pissed me off, but I feel even more like shit when I do. Thought ?

We do not have central air conditioning in our house. We have a window-mounted air conditioner in the living room and another in the upstairs hall, plus a ceiling fan in the living room. Other than that, during hot weather, we use standing fans and make sure to open the windows at night.
Note: This is about my wife, but I'm not asking for advice. I just need to vent about a situation because maybe if I can express it in writing, I'll feel less confused.
The other day, I went downstairs in the middle of the afternoon and found my wife resting on the couch after having gone for a walk. She had turned the window air conditioner on. This confused me because the air conditioner is set to cool the room to 72 degrees (Fahrenheit), and it didn't feel like 72 to me. I looked at the thermostat on the wall and saw a room temperature of 68 degrees.
I asked my wife why she had the air conditioner on if the room was already cooler than the device’s setting. She said she had turned it on because she felt hot. I guess that’s not unreasonable.
I pointed out that it was just being an expensive fan. It's not going to try to cool the room to a temperature warmer than what the room currently is, but it's going to stay on anyway just to blow the air around. I asked whether I could switch it off and turn on the ceiling fan instead, which would serve the same purpose and use less power.
She said she didn’t understand.
I tried to explain why it’s pointless to have the air conditioner on 72 when the room was 68 because it wasn’t actually making a difference in temperature.
She said she still didn’t understand.
I tried explaining with metaphors (like pouring water into a glass that is already filled to the brim), I tried alternate explanations (like how the furnace won't try to warm the room up to 70 degrees if the temperature is already 80), and I tried physical demonstrations (like how I can't touch the ceiling by reaching down to the floor, or how if I need to pick something up from the floor I'm not going to stand on a stepladder to do it). She continued to claim that she didn’t understand what I was trying to tell her, complaining about “all these numbers” I was “throwing around.”
I told her I needed her to understand because the air conditioner uses a lot of electricity and that having it on in this situation was a waste. Wasting electricity equals wasting money, and I don't like the idea of her throwing away the money I work hard to bring home to support our household. And I tried yet again to explain.
She interrupted to tell me that she was trying to get our youngest child registered for school next year (she did have her computer on), and that was taking up her attention, so I shouldn't expect her to listen to my "complicated scientific rant."
I left without switching off the air conditioner because I know if I did I would have been in trouble for insulting her intelligence or of unnecessarily taking control or something. I'm still utterly baffled by the thought that a college-educated woman couldn’t comprehend the purpose of an air conditioner!
It almost felt like she was deliberately preventing herself from understanding because she didn’t want to change her behavior or didn’t want to allow me to be right about something.
I presented the same concept to my teenage son later just to make sure I wasn't crazy, and he understood right away, even rolling his eyes in a "that's obvious" kind of way.

Just wanted to share the enlightenment and relief I have received in my life lately thanks to the help of natures golden nuggets.. the MAGIC psilocybin containing mushrooms.
So I am a 28y male who has suffered from mental illness and substance abuse from early high school on. I’m a certified alcoholic with 3 years of recovery and i love drugs in all forms. Anything that can distract the ole noggin from feeling what is real. I was diagnosed bipolar at the age of 18 after overdosing on Xanax and being admitted to the mental ward. Doctors put me some pretty heavy cocktails that exacerbated my mental illness and left me feeling more broken, misunderstood and suicidal. My heavy drinking quickly turned to full fledged alcoholism in the worst form. I was in a long term relationship from 19-23 and during that time I would find bits of sobriety and relief but could never piece together more than 3-6 months before falling back into the insane abyss.
Fast forward to 25, I finally gave up drinking for (GOD willing) the final time. I made the conscious decision to start altering the course of my life. I went to a 28 day treatment program and immediately began hitting 7-10 meetings a day in the AA and CR fellowships. Everything was going good for a while, I was blessed with self employment and began building a small auto-detailing company here in eastern NC. I had more business than I could handle and I was glued to the center of my recovery groups as if my life depended on it (IYKYK). Somewhere along the lines my meeting attendance slowly went from 7-10 a week to 5 then 2-3.. it went to once or twice every couple of weeks to now I haven’t been to a meeting in months.
As I’ve sat and reflected on the whole experience it’s painfully obvious where I went wrong this time. I allowed my ego to interfere (I’ve got this) and replaced my alcoholism with a gambling addiction. I started trading crypto and forex and began throwing every cent i was making at it thinking that I could become a millionaire overnight. When I started losing EVERYTHING I was so riddled with guilt and shame that I couldn’t bear so i tainted my complete abstinence from all mood and mind altering substances by smoking weed again. The sickness of my disease took over and I kept feeding the crypto casino for the last year and a half. There would be days where I’d make $5K and I would always over leverage and lose it just as quickly as it came. The cycle was so vicious and I was hiding it with everything I had until the repossession letters started coming and I couldn’t afford to pay my cellphone bill anymore. Thankfully I was living with my mother and didn’t have to pay rent or afford many groceries, but I was losing it all.
Fast forward again to this past December.. I came clean to my family and closest friends about my newest addiction and was genuinely trying to get ahead of it. I’d go a couple of days without looking at charts but inevitably I kept returning to the thrill of striking it rich.
Fast forward for the final time to three weeks ago… a high school friend of mine moved back into town and we started hanging out again. She is an extremely heavy pot smoker and she enjoys festivals and raves and all of the goodies that sometimes come with the culture. I opened up to her about my struggles and she was able to relate in her own way. She shared how micro-dosing with magic mushrooms has helped her on her own mental health journey and she offered me some.. the alcoholic part of my brain instantly said yes.. I couldn’t afford health insurance this year thanks to my gambling addiction but i have desperately been ready to accept help. The normal side of my brain however, reminded me of my first and only experience with mushrooms. It was completely traumatic. I ate way too many and was with a group of people that I thought were my friends but I didn’t much care for (I’ve always been the loner type). I don’t remember much of anything from that night but as I was coming to I just remember beating the piss out of like 5 or 6 of my “friends”. I ripped a ceiling fan out of the ceiling and threw it through a wall and I went clean through a solid wooden door as if it were Styrofoam. To this day, when I ask anyone what happened night, I’m always told “you don’t need to know”. It’s like it’s extremely taboo for me to know what I went through that night as if it would hurt me any more than the other traumatic things that happened in the 19 years of my miserable life.. that is still so hurtful and confusing to me.. but I genuinely wanted to give the mushrooms another chance. She gave me 2 grams and advised me to trip alone this time and it was nothing less than a spiritual awakening. It was like I could see myself and the world through Gods eyes. I realized power within myself that I had never realized before. I saw myself as worthy of change and a better life. The next few days I micro-dosed throughout the day and I genuinely began to feel real relief mentally. After I ran out of my supply, I began to feel dirty and convicted. Like I was somehow wrong for choosing to break my sobriety by smoking weed and eating these mushrooms.. I had another heavy trip last weekend and received another piece of enlightenment. I have come to the conclusion that no matter what form of mental health you may suffer from or what type of substance you may chose to use or abuse to deal with those issues, your recovery and your journey is your own. It’s between you and God and it’s not for anyone in any AA meeting or any church to judge. Do what works for you and don’t let anyone tell you that it’s wrong. It is all about intent.
Spreading good vibes to anyone who is suffering tonight. You are important. You matter. You are not alone. ☮️✌️

Whenever I'm playing survivor.io and I'm trying to use the shotgun it is so much harder to level than light chaser or void power. Kunai would obviously be slightly easier due to the xp boost but still. I have a gold shotgun and I really want to use it but it's completely hit or miss if I EVER get to upgrade it. I tried using it for enders echo and good lord. 4 matches and I didn't get to Evo it once. 3 if those I didn't even get the shotgun to max, 2 of them I never got high powered bullet, 1 of them I got both and COULD Evo it but I went 6 level ups without being able to select the Evo. Is there actually worse chances for it because of how strong it can be or is it just bad luck? I know it's not really meta and the S tier weapons are better but I wanted to have fun with the minigun it's just a nightmare because I almost never manage to evo to it!

Alfonso reclined in one of the canvas chairs in the pavilion. The light patter of rain drummed on the canvas above his head. He and the other entourage of Italian nobles had managed to find one of the few dry spots of land surrounding the Mantuan swamp, and there they erected an officers' mess of sorts. Francesco, Ippolito, the Medici cousins and a smattering of other Italian princes drank, joked, gambled and harassed the serving girls. This was camaraderie in its rawest and most misogynistic form.
Antonio, one of his brother’s pages, scurried into the pavilion. He was drenched from the rain that now came down with more force. His face was long and lacking color. The young man paused for a moment surveying the crowd, before hurrying over to his patron. He whispered something in Ippolito’s ear. As the color drained from Ippolito's face he turned to Alfonso.
The news disorientated the Duke. His brother was still whispering in his ear, but Alfonso could not hear him. What Ippolito had left to say did not matter. A fever, it had come on quick and just as suddenly taken away his beloved Lucrezia. Ippolito clapped him on the back, a comforting sign no doubt.
Alfonso stood abruptly. The pavilion grew quiet. All the eyes fixated on the patriarch of the Este, expecting a speech or bawdy joke. Alfonso’s face was blank as he strode out of the pavilion and into the downpour. There he stood long into the night getting drenched by the summer rain just feet away from the warmth of the pavilion. Several times one of his comrades made a move to stir him, only to be shooed away by Ippolito.

After stirring from his catatonic daze, Alfonso and Ippolito made all due haste to Ferrara. Alfonso barked orders at his Cardinal brother regarding the funeral arrangements. Ippolito solemnly nodded, making sure Antonio was taking down notes.
She would be buried in the finest silks. She would be adorned with a tiara inlaid with gold, silver and jewels. She was a princess of the Holy Apolostoic Church, and she would be buried as such. She would be entombed at the Convent of Corpus Domini in Ferrara, the traditional burial place of the d’Este. In time, so too would Alfonso join his beloved here.
Although saddened, Ippolito was not nearly as grief stricken as his dear brother. The solemn journey back to Ferrara allowed the Cardinal time to contemplate. He thought of his own mortality, which seemed menacingly nearer with the death of such a young and virile woman as Lucrezia. He thought of his family, not only his son and daughter but so too of Alfonso and his children, the d’Este as a whole. The Este were on the cusp of eternal glory, their fortunes on the up, but would that hold?
Finally, Ippolito thought of the Borgia. Those titans who once ruled Italy directly or indirectly. The ambition, the power, the nepotism. His family had rode on their wave to success and had managed to escape the Cesarean fall. Yet, with the death of Lucrezia, all of the last few decades seemed to come to a close. No doubt Rodrigo, Cesare, or even his late sister in law, had many a bastard roaming the Romagna. Yet, for all intents and purposes the Borgia were no more. The end of an era, he thought.
“La morte dei Borgia” he whispered under his breath.

Just wanted to share the enlightenment and relief I have received in my life lately thanks to the help of natures golden nuggets.. the MAGIC mushrooms.
So I am a 28y male who has suffered from mental illness and substance abuse from early high school on. I’m a certified alcoholic with 3 years of recovery and i love drugs in all forms. Anything that can distract the ole noggin from feeling what is real. I was diagnosed bipolar at the age of 18 after overdosing on Xanax and being admitted to the mental ward. Doctors put me some pretty heavy cocktails that exacerbated my mental illness and left me feeling more broken, misunderstood and suicidal. My heavy drinking quickly turned to full fledged alcoholism in the worst form. I was in a long term relationship from 19-23 and during that time I would find bits of sobriety and relief but could never piece together more than 3-6 months before falling back into the insane abyss.
Fast forward to 25, I finally gave up drinking for (GOD willing) the final time. I made the conscious decision to start altering the course of my life. I went to a 28 day treatment program and immediately began hitting 7-10 meetings a day in the AA and CR fellowships. Everything was going good for a while, I was blessed with self employment and began building a small auto-detailing company here in eastern NC. I had more business than I could handle and I was glued to the center of my recovery groups as if my life depended on it (IYKYK). Somewhere along the lines my meeting attendance slowly went from 7-10 a week to 5 then 2-3.. it went to once or twice every couple of weeks to now I haven’t been to a meeting in months.
As I’ve sat and reflected on the whole experience it’s painfully obvious where I went wrong this time. I allowed my ego to interfere (I’ve got this) and replaced my alcoholism with a gambling addiction. I started trading crypto and forex and began throwing every cent i was making at it thinking that I could become a millionaire overnight. When I started losing EVERYTHING I was so riddled with guilt and shame that I couldn’t bear so i tainted my complete abstinence from all mood and mind altering substances by smoking weed again. The sickness of my disease took over and I kept feeding the crypto casino for the last year and a half. There would be days where I’d make $5K and I would always over leverage and lose it just as quickly as it came. The cycle was so vicious and I was hiding it with everything I had until the repossession letters started coming and I couldn’t afford to pay my cellphone bill anymore. Thankfully I was living with my mother and didn’t have to pay rent or afford many groceries, but I was losing it all.
Fast forward again to this past December.. I came clean to my family and closest friends about my newest addiction and was genuinely trying to get ahead of it. I’d go a couple of days without looking at charts but inevitably I kept returning to the thrill of striking it rich.
Fast forward for the final time to three weeks ago… a high school friend of mine moved back into town and we started hanging out again. She is an extremely heavy pot smoker and she enjoys festivals and raves and all of the goodies that sometimes come with the culture. I opened up to her about my struggles and she was able to relate in her own way. She shared how micro-dosing with magic mushrooms has helped her on her own mental health journey and she offered me some.. the alcoholic part of my brain instantly said yes.. I couldn’t afford health insurance this year thanks to my gambling addiction but i have desperately been ready to accept help. The normal side of my brain however, reminded me of my first and only experience with mushrooms. It was completely traumatic. I ate way too many and was with a group of people that I thought were my friends but I didn’t much care for (I’ve always been the loner type). I don’t remember much of anything from that night but as I was coming to I just remember beating the piss out of like 5 or 6 of my “friends”. I ripped a ceiling fan out of the ceiling and threw it through a wall and I went clean through a solid wooden door as if it were Styrofoam. To this day, when I ask anyone what happened night, I’m always told “you don’t need to know”. It’s like it’s extremely taboo for me to know what I went through that night as if it would hurt me any more than the other traumatic things that happened in the 19 years of my miserable life.. that is still so hurtful and confusing to me.. but I genuinely wanted to give the mushrooms another chance. She gave me 2 grams and advised me to trip alone this time and it was nothing less than a spiritual awakening. It was like I could see myself and the world through Gods eyes. I realized power within myself that I had never realized before. I saw myself as worthy of change and a better life. The next few days I micro-dosed throughout the day and I genuinely began to feel real relief mentally. After I ran out of my supply, I began to feel dirty and convicted. Like I was somehow wrong for choosing to break my sobriety by smoking weed and eating these mushrooms.. I had another heavy trip last weekend and received another piece of enlightenment. I have come to the conclusion that no matter what form of mental health you may suffer from or what type of substance you may chose to use or abuse to deal with those issues, your recovery and your journey is your own. It’s between you and God and it’s not for anyone in any AA meeting or any church to judge. Do what works for you and don’t let anyone tell you that it’s wrong. It is all about intent.

The San later swore the same oath, and a few days later they were stepping onto the Semiramis, exclaiming over the smooth lines and gleaming metal. Cruisers were not normally built for families to have their children on board, so some changes had to be made. What the San had given in trade was more than enough in value, however, and there was room enough to do so without affecting performance. The craft was a sleek, swift fighting vessel, bearing eight boarding craft and more than a hundred and fifty guns—not really enough to take on a dreadnought, but easily the better of any cruiser in the field.
There were cabins, some larger for the many couples that had children, infirmaries, chapels that were completely bare since each species had its own faith and their own trappings to bring, kitchens and canteens, gyms and exercise equipment, even libraries, one of which the engineers had taken time to make into a school. In short, it could be considered a tiny city, or at least a small town, with everything they needed to live for months at at time.
Despite his impatience to cast off and the way his daughter nearly quivered at the sight of the pilot's controls, Mogan insisted on time for everyone to get used to the ship.
Not that the crew was only human, not anymore. Some of the poachers who they had saved, and who had fought beside them in turn, on Noepe insisted on coming with, adding another fifty or sixty Sylfa and Shawing to the crew. Chadnov's wife Karshta, her head nearly brushing the ceiling at five meters, carried two very large infants aboard. And almost two hundred of the Vishtali came, varying between challenging belligerence and those clearly fighting down the desire to flee.
The Vishtali had not been slaves. Not legally, at least; according to the Sovereignty, they were no more sapient than humanity. While they were owned and worked and abused and in more than one raid literally chained to the beds for customers, charges for slavery could not be filed. Legally, they were livestock, not slaves. The boss of the planet Irhost had hired the San to take care of it in an extra-legal, and very definitive, fashion, but they could not undo the damage that had been done.
On their own planet, Vishtali technology remained in the age of steel and steam, with further advances punished. Many of them took to training as technicians easily, finding the electronics easier to work with than the over-complicated steam machines of home. Of the five hundred or so that had been rescued, relatively few continued to accompany them, but those few had more than just their skills. They had what has always been the most valuable commodity to a pirate—information.
On the third day, with the crew feeling more relaxed, the mercenaries arrived, ready to take their stations. The fourth day found Mogan in the captain's chair, looking at a viewscreen that showed the starry void before them.
He was on a dias, where he could see everything on the bridge. Sylfa design preferred a captain's walk, with stations on either side, but this pattern let him see almost every station from where he sat. Burya and Logog, the ship and marine officers, sat in similar chairs at the bottom of the dias, while others of the crew sat at their stations. Most of them had displays for the operators to see, with somewhat larger displays above them so he could see pertinent information immediately.
His daughter sat at the pilot's station, waiting for the order.
Ellisan was sixteen now, old enough to hold an official rank, and even had charge of the ship's pilots—some for the helm, and others for the boarding craft. For the first casting-off of the new ship, there was no possibility that she would let anyone else hold the helm. She nearly bounced in her seat, four hands adjusting controls on the board.
She was a Meht, of two different species, and the first of her kind. Not that she was the first Meht—there had been billions, but they were still a relative rarity in a galaxy with trillions of sapient beings in it. Not any two species produced one; most such pairings ended with no result at all. The San didn't know how many such species they were compatible with, but Ellisan proved that the Sylfa were one of them, and Chadnov's surprise pregnancy and spear-point wedding were proof that the Mantu were another.
Meht were often considered to have the advantages of both parents' species, although that wasn't always the case. Ellisan had her mother's arms—all four of them—and her frame and height, but while her hair was the silver color standard to all Sylfa her skin was a much lighter shade of blue-green. She could pass for a Sylfa if needed, especially with makeup, but she generally stood out. But as much as she looked like a Sylfa, she was able to run with humans, something no Sylfa could manage.
Her shoulders were not built the way human shoulders were; to her great discomfort, she could clumsily hurl an object a few yards, like any other species, rather than the direct, drilling throws of human spearmen and slingers. She could clumsily hurl something with a surprising degree of accuracy if not force, another talent from her human ancestry, but this had meant nothing until she first fired a laser pistol.
Meht were also sterile—at least, except for a very rare few, and Ellisan was not one of those. She had been bitter over that, once, but now it didn't make the difference it once had. Perhaps other things were taking importance, or perhaps the situation had changed, or perhaps it was simply part of her growth. Whatever the reason, Mogan was pleased to see it no longer ate at her. He had tried to paint it as a blessing; before they came to the stars, after all, the day of her first birth was the most dangerous of a woman's life, and she was also spared the cramps and mess that some women went through. He had tried, but he really had not succeeded.
Then again, today was a day to make anybody forget their troubles. The lower officers, newly granted official ranks, stood in a line watching.
The viewscreens along each wall,front and sides, showed the view outside in sharp visuals. In the open area at the front, holograms showed the ship itself, one with the docks around it and one showing only the ship.
“Burya?”
Burya, once the chief of the Hanging Rock village, nodded. He was fitting well into his new position; Mogan had worried that the authority would still stress the eighteen-year-old, but so long as Mogan was making the bigger decisions he handled it well. Burya had often seemed the oldest of the group, but now he stood straight-backed and smiling as he checked his wristpad a final time.
“All airlocks closed and checked, all clasps ready.”
Mogan nodded. “release.”
Burya repeated the order. They had expected to feel a change in motion, but the ship's own inertial dampeners easily negotiated the slight change from the station's orbit around its star to the Semiramis' free orbit.
“Helm,” Mogan said, and got a delighted grin from Ellisan. “Take us away.”
Again, none of them could feel the movement. The only real indication they were in motion was on the holos, where one lit up to indicate the engines and the other showed a growing distance between ship and station.
Mogan waited as the ship slowly accelerated, until thousands of kilometers lay between them and Haitac Station.
“Alright, let's put her through her paces. Helm, prepare a full burn.” Mogan manipulated the computation array in front of him, producing a holo of the system, with the ship far smaller. He tapped a point on the holo. “Turn here, to this point, then this, and this.” More points, telling the array to register where his finger was at, describing a series of sharp turns before heading out of the system. “Now.”
They could feel it this time. Those standing stumbled and almost fell as the ship leaped forward. “Full Burn” was apparently a term that harkened back to ancient days when chemical rockets were used, but the gravitic drives were far more powerful. They reached the point sooner than Mogan realized, and Ellisan expertly swung the craft around, engines humming smoothly, to the new course.
Mogan relaxed a little, as they went through another hairpin turn with easy efficiency, and then the third. He had seen enough to know that the turns were not so easy, but that Ellisan's expertise made it seem so—but nonetheless, the ship handled beautifully as they raced forward.
The route took them out of the system, far enough from the sun to escape its gravity, and Mogan tapped what looks like an asteroid on the holo. “There's our target. Caricole left.”
Burya repeated the order into his wristpad, alerting the crew, and the laser turrets and etheric cannon swiveled as far forward as they could go. Those on the top of the craft and forward were readied.
Little was still known about the Etheric Currents. They reacted, as far as science could confirm, to only three things things—gravity, hard light, and plasma. To the Ether, hard light seemed solid. Shielded ships were pushed by those currents, and sapient species had rapidly devised how to make what were effectively sails of hard light that could catch these currents and propel the ship.
Nobody knew how fast the Currents were, if they were truly many times faster than light or if they added speed in some other way, but even slow, bulky freighters could move five or ten thousand times the speed of light. The smallest racing craft—the size of a shuttle but mostly power-plants and shield-generators—could move literally thousands of times faster than that. Shett had told him that the Semiramis would match or beat most destroyers; in a pinch, it could likely cross the entire galaxy in about six months.
Plasma, on the other hand, reacted explosively with the Etheric currents, causing massive force and expansion. This was sometimes weaponized in the use of mines or planted bombs, but the most effective weapon built managed to combine the two; the Etheric Cannon.
The weapon had a firing chamber and a barrel, but both were lined with shaped fields of hard light. The chamber funneled to push as much ether as possible within, and on firing it was closed off and filled with plasma. That force pushed not a projectile but another, moveable hard light shield, that served as a wadding of sorts to shove a small ball.
The cannonballs fired by a heavy cannon rarely weighed more than five kilograms, but they flew at an immeasurable speed, far faster than those swiftest racing ships. On impact, much of that force—the vast majority of it, in truth—was transferred back to the Etheric Currents. This was generally considered a good thing; otherwise even the tiniest projectile moving significantly faster than the speed of light could literally destroy a planet. The force that remained, however, was enough to cause considerable damage to whatever unfortunate object it hit. More importantly, the projectiles were fast enough to make combat feasible even at faster-than-light speeds. Lasers were somewhat useless, after all, when a craft was already moving at several thousand times the speed of light.
The Currents' aversion to gravity was often considered a blessing. Ships did sometimes crash into things, including planets, and a two-billion-ton dreadnought, or even a one-million-ton destroyer, smashing into a planet was cause for absolute devastation. But at least they couldn't hit a planet, or the traffic near a planet, at faster-than-light speeds. That it also slowed travel was considered a worthwhile payoff. That it made etheric cannon useless inside the gravity of a solar system wasn't as well-liked; thus nearly every ship, and certainly every warship, carried both cannon and lasers.
The last time they were in a battle, they could feel the transport they were in shudder, just a touch, as the forward cannons fired. This time there were just the smallest thumps, small enough that Mogan couldn't be sure whether they were heard or felt, and puffs of dust rose from the massive stone.
It wasn't dust, at least most of it, but they were still thousands of kilometers away, far enough for even fairly large boulders to look like specks of dust. An instant later the ship swung left more than 90 degrees, exposing the right side for another volley. On the holo, they could see some of the streaks indicating shots pass right through the asteroid, with so much of it blown away.
The Semiramis flew past, the remnants of the asteroid on their right. Leaders shouted, cheering at the display, but Mogan simply watched, smiling.
“Well.... This will make things interesting. Urgant?”
The Vishtali woman raised two of her four hands—it was hard to raise just one--to acknowledge him and nodded.
“You know the location, yes? Talk with navigation and plot it for us.”
The woman nodded and bent to speak with the woman at that station. A few minutes later, the holo with the map expanded, with the star they were aiming for outlined in a small nimbus of light.
The Semiramis adjusted slightly, changing position, and then there was the slightest hum, almost too low to hear, as the shields came on.
On the other holo they could see the ship suddenly surrounded with a layer of hard light, and then other shields came up, sticking out to the side a little like fins, or the sails he had seen on boats among the Sea People. The ship rocked as the Etheric Currents began pushing, and Ellisan adjusted the shape of them.
The ship picked up speed, although the inertial dampeners made it difficult to notice. They passed the speed of light well behind them as the shield-sails expanded, and then others appeared, to the side. Ellisan adjusted their flight so they were slightly off-course, but the reason why became evident as the ship's speed increased yet further, moving several thousand times the speed of light.
The maiden voyage--and the first raid--of the Semiramis had begun.

I recently got myself a rogue hog for custom reasons, as you all might already know it was a planned toy for the season two of acceleracers and as a big fan of the series that could've i wanted one ahah
yesterday, mine came in, 2014 release, goofy ahh retool but it's nice, it got it's character i dont mind, so yeah, what i noticed today is that: rogue hog has no steering wheel on it's interior, instead it got two joysticks, perhaps for controlling the mech and steering and i though "oh hey, that's neat and pretty clever, they really put in some thought for the transforming thing" and it clicked me, supposing all season two cars were supposed to transform at some point, they all might have this design feature, right?
another design planned for season two was the now known as "Pharadox", a drone transforming vehicle shown in the catalog. i don't own one of those sadly, and it is relevant to this as: it was planned for acceleracers at some point correct yes, and it was planned for one of those transforming figures which yay great cool, (nope, i have been informed pharadox and the drone car in the catalog are not meant to be the same thing, just trying to keep my information true to the facts) so if my theory is any correct, it shouldn't have a steering wheel, instead having joysticks, and if it does, it opens the doors to theorize if other cars that share this feature might also have been planned for the series at some point, specifically those from 2005-2009 which was when the series was the most active. but not only that, but also that in that time frame we often saw vehicles from the series hit the mainline after being dropped, let me list a few: 2005- Airy 8; 2006- pharadox, sledge hammer; 2007- rogue hog; 2009- chopper (yeah... it's a battle force 5 not mainline but still)
i'm pretty confident on this theory but don't get me wrong, this theory is not bullet proof, there are a few holes i can't prove or argue with, such as the following questions: - What if pharadox doesn't have said interior feature? well, then rogue hog is, thus far, alone on this - What if not all vehicles for season two were planned to transform to begain with? then it'll be near impossible to tell what was and what isn't, such as sledge hammer, no one had a clue about it until Accelereece found out that, but yeah it would just make it the harder to find out - What if there ARE yes other diecasts meant for the series that where re-designed to feature a wheel? again, then it's near impossible to tell the difference without more info on the s2 line
TL:DR Rogue hog's interior was made with the transforming figure in mind, what if other dropped diecasts did the same?
well, this was my small ted talk, hope it's worth a read, if you find something new let us know, if i said something wrong go ahead and correct me i don't mind, i'm just trying to get us a step closer to discovering the whole planned line with some cars that saw the light of day, because in the end, we all know there are other like 20 designs that were never conceptualized to the public in any way and we might never see or know, now it's with y'all, Lee out

u/Sayo-Naro made a similar thread the other day about favorite solos, and it had me thinking about my favorite specific parts of Symphony X songs. I went a little overboard with my comment on that thread, so I'll limit myself to one chorus per album, but you don't have to.

Symphony X: Taunting the Notorious
This album seems divisive among the fan base, but I personally love it. This song is admittedly simpler than most on their self-titled album, but the chorus is easy to get stuck in your head.
The Damnation Game: Dressed to Kill
Only the second song on the album and Russel Allen is already flexing his vocal abilities (this album might have some of my favorite vocals come to think of it). The delivery of the first part "arrival, dressed to kill, scarlet memories" is what I always remember most about this song.
The Divine Wings of Tragedy: Out of the Ashes
It was a tough call between this and Of Sins and Shadows, but this one barely cuts it. I'll admit this was never my favorite Symphony X album, but this song and its catchy chorus is what often makes me come back to it (you'll see a theme here that a catchy chorus is usually my favorite).
Twilight in Olympus: Church of the Machine
Like TDWoT's pick, it was down to this or In the Dragon's Den. Both have very catch choruses for sure, but I think nostalgia is the deciding factor on this as this was the first Symphony X song I'd ever heard. It sounds completely unreal and the simple usage of the chorus repeating itself twice at the end of the song after that killer solo is what cements this as probably my second favorite album by them.
V: The New Mythology Suite: Evolution (The Grand Design)
This is hands down my favorite album of all time and this song is its mission statement. It's a perfect opener and double bass drum (I think that's what it is, I'm not a drummer) in the background gives this chorus such an energetic feeling.
The Odyssey: King of Terrors
I'll be honest and say that I forget about this album quite a bit, and there's usually only a few things I can remember from it, that being the solo on Wicked, the magnum opus title track, the rerecorded and incredible Masquerade, and this chorus. Not much else to say, it shares the same dramatic sense as the rest of the album.
Paradise Lost: Paradise Lost
One of my all time favorite Symphony X songs for the emotion it can pull from me, specifically in Russel Allen's magnificent vocal performance at 4:51 onward. While most other choruses on this list are chosen for being memorable or catchy (aren't those synonyms, u/xX_CUM_SLAYER_Xx?), this one has a sound unlike anything else heard before it and captures the theme of the album perfectly.
Iconoclast: The Lords of Chaos
This pick was nearly a tie with Light Up the Night, but I quickly came to my senses. It's an incredibly uplifting sound that can't help but raise your spirits. Its approach of slowing down and becoming more impactful and the way it fades out with the end of the song makes it the chorus I remember from this album.
Underworld: Swan Song
A lot of this has to do with the last two picks in that it's emotional and harder hitting than most of the album. The way he says "hear my song, carry on" makes me think of Charon (despite being spelt completely different) and even if it was unintentional, callbacks to earlier points in an album help it feel more cohesive (like how Inhuman Rampage will mention Through the Fire and Flames in Cry For Eternity (one of my favorite albums by the way)). I wish this was the final song, but Legend is still a fitting closer to a phenomenal album.

There's a sorta funny story I like to tell my friends about something I did when I was younger lol.
When I was younger, I loved Madagascar. So I always watched it in my room on dvd if I wasn't watching Wow Wow Wubbzy or Ruby Gloom. Well one day I thought it would be the best idea ever to tie a jumprope to my ceiling fan with a hula hoop also tied to it so I could swing around like I saw on TV. I got ready and stuck myself through the hula hoop, ready to spin around as I expected. As you can tell, it did not go well at all. I fell face first on the ground and my ceiling fan came with me, soon my step dad ran into the room and beat the crap outta me. I still think about this story, knowing I have the replacement fan from the incident still on the ceiling.
