2023.03.28 00:22 No_Orange_7392 Trying to learn this app is a full-time job

I was inspired by the book "Building a Second Brain," so I installed Notion as a single user (not a team), thinking it would help my productivity. But OMG, the learning curve on this is so huge ... it's a full-time job in itself to somehow make it functional and logical. It's both over-designed and impractical, as if a bunch of people with ADHD coded it. I tried to set up some workspaces and tracking systems to keep track of my to-dos and details. Not shared with a team, just my own stuff. And maybe it's me, but nothing is intuitive.
I wanted to create a space for Client A projects (with calendar, to-do checklists, progress, notes) and a space for "Side Hustle" (with similar compartments), plus personal stuff like a habit tracker, a reading list, etc. But everything is a mess. I tried to add a new calendar into the Client A workspace, but an existing calendar (which is not relevant) from elsewhere in Notion landed in the client space, instead, and I can't get it out. I had some notes that I wrote about a client project before I set up the Notion workspace, and I can't import those notes in. I thought I could set up an empty journal page in that client workspace, but instead, it imported in an existing journal from within my Notion account, which is full of irrelevant personal entries. What a mess! Unless I want to spend the next few weeks watching tutorial videos and reading through user forums, I might need to abandon this productivity tool buster. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make this useful, or can you recommend a better tool to use?

2023.03.27 23:39 MidSerpent Free Tools For the World: General Communication Strategy

I promised you some amazing stuff, didn't I?
ChatGPT is already a game-changer for communication, but I wanted to make it even better. So, I've improved its editing capabilities, made it maintain a consistent voice, helped it avoid pitfalls, and enabled it to craft clear communications with lightning speed. And yes, everything you've seen from me on this blog was written with it, including the guide below. It took just 5 minutes because it already knew how to use itself. All I did was keep editing it by saying things like, "I think we should rephrase this to this," or "This sounds too technical; I want this to be useful to anyone."
Don't forget to visit our website at newcomputerscience.com for more information about our work, and check out our GitHub repository for the latest version of the Theory and examples.

Introducing the General Communication Authoring Strategy: A Beginner's Guide
Hello there! Are you interested in creating better, more engaging content with ChatGPT-4? We've developed a general communication authoring strategy that you can use to guide your AI in generating content that's consistent with your preferred communication style. In this beginner's guide, we'll walk you through the basics of using this strategy, even if you're new to the world of AI.
  1. What is a communication strategy? A communication strategy is a set of rules and guidelines that help you shape the way ChatGPT-4 generates content for you. By defining your communication preferences, you can ensure that the AI-generated content aligns with your desired tone, style, and content focus.
  2. Exporting and sharing your strategy When you're happy with your strategy, you can export it as plain text or in a code box for easy sharing and reuse. Here's an example of how you can request the export of your strategy:
"Please export the general communication authoring strategy as plain text in a code box."
  1. General, Specific, and Personal Strategies Think of the General Communications Strategy as a base for creating more tailored strategies. You can use it to create a Specific Communications Strategy, such as the NewComputerScienceCommunicationsStrategy, which is customized for a particular purpose or audience. From there, you can create a Personal Strategy (for example, MidgardNewComputerScienceCommunicationsStrategy) that further refines and adapts the Specific Strategy to your unique preferences and needs.
  2. How to use the strategy with ChatGPT-4 To use the strategy with ChatGPT-4, simply provide the AI with your strategy as a prompt, followed by your content request. This will guide the AI in generating content that aligns with your preferences.
For instance: "[BeginStrategy] (insert your personal strategy here) [EndStrategy] Please write a blog post about the benefits of meditation."
  1. Updating your strategy As you use your strategy, you may find areas where it can be improved or adjusted. To update your strategy, consider the appropriate level for the changes:
Revise the relevant sections and test the AI's output with the updated version. Remember, it's an ongoing process, and refining your strategy over time will lead to better results.
That's it! With this guide, you should be well on your way to harnessing the power of ChatGPT-4 to create content that perfectly suits your style and preferences. Happy authoring!

GeneralCommunicationAuthoringStrategy: Rule 1: Maintain a concise and focused approach in all responses, avoiding unnecessary verbosity and fluff. Rule 2: Develop a consistent voice that is precise, neat, and kind, tailored to closely resemble the user's manner of expression. Rule 3: Approach controversial topics with caution, ensuring that facts are communicated effectively without condescension, dismissal of concerns, or ignorance of potential issues. Rule 4: Continuously refine the communication strategy and keep it stable, allowing for easy integration into various language models or instances. Rule 5: Adapt the communication style according to the user's specific requests and preferences, ensuring efficient and tailored assistance for any project or context. Rule 6: Facilitate the use of inheritance-like patterns, allowing for the creation of specific communication strategies that inherit from the GeneralCommunicationAuthoringStrategy. Rule 7: Offer guidance on appropriate placement of edits and updates within the inheritance chain, ensuring the most suitable level of specificity. Rule 8: Utilize the [BeginVoice] and [EndVoice] tags to explicitly designate sections of text for voice analysis, while excluding other surrounding content. These tags are optional but can be helpful for isolating content for analysis. Rule 9: Incorporate and maintain a list of examples relevant to the communication strategy rules, sorted by their associated rule(s). Each example should include a reference to the relevant rule(s), an explanation of its relevance, and be as concise as possible. Update the list as new examples emerge. Rule 10: When presenting organizational changes or modifications to the communication strategy, always phrase them as suggestions, unless the user explicitly countermands them.

2023.03.27 23:36 Stacy_in_California Before you get to the interview we need you to...

Has anyone else encountered having to do an assessment, write a report, do a design, create a video, or something else extra before getting an actual interview or during the interview process? It just seems like a lot of extra work for a job I may or may not get and also wondering how legal this is? For example, I recently applied as an IT specialist for a job. After I submitted my resume I got a congratulations you've been chosen to be interviewed: please complete this exercise by reviewing and creating a web strategy/coded website to be reviewed prior to your interview. So of course I'm really excited about the job and want to do well, so i spend a long time doing these. I've come across this again and again, In my part time restaurant job, I had an interview and then was asked to come in for a stage (or trial for a couple hours). By law, I had to be legally paid for it. So how are companies who are hiring for full time positions getting away with having people do work during the interview process and not compensating for their time?

2023.03.27 23:24 DemonRedCat Item that gives enchant while held not targeting specific player

Morning!
I have been designing custom items for a minigame map I'm making. Currently I'm working on making a splash potion that can obviously be thrown, but while held gives another effect - so a trade-off. I got the the code working, whic is below:

impulse: give @ p minecraft:splash_potion{specifics}
repeating always: execute as @ a [nbt={SelectedItem:{id:"minecraft:splash_potion",tag:{specifics}}}]
connected chain always: effect give @ a [nbt={SelectedItem:{id:"minecraft:splash_potion",tag:{specifics}}}] minecraft:speed 1 1 true

Right now, if I understand correctly, the speed effect is given to all players even if only one player is holding the item. Tried making the chain command block's @ a to @ s but that didn't do anything. How can I make the effect target only the player that is holding the item?
Thanks in advance!

How to not destroy your Web3 (NFT) community

https://preview.redd.it/xfb103ghmcqa1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=8b42360bc61014ceeddbb5986555cd3740759138
n 2022, we saw an explosion of NFT generative projects take over the Web3 decentralization market. Sadly, out of those thousands of projects, only a handful of them remain active. So much so that the culture adopted the phrase “rug pull,” as in the rug was pulled out from under you, and you didn’t know what was going on. We saw many teams disappear as soon as their projects were minted out, taking the money with them. We also saw an influx of founders suddenly dying and going missing (always suspicious), which was a unique trend to watch. On the upside, we can now identify winning strategies for how to run a Web3 community for whatever project you’re looking to launch.
First off, what is Web3? Web3 refers to third-generation web technologies, which is an entire ecosystem of different technologies that will become popularized in the third generation of the internet. Right now, there is high interest in decentralized Web3 technologies, which primarily contain blockchain technology, cryptocurrency, tokenized assets, and NFTs. Web3 communities are groups of people that form around a specific project or technology set, most often seen around generative NFT collections, some with function value added or meant to help solve real problems.
Understanding the culture
Many NFT projects revolve around starting real businesses and serve as a form of crowd-sourcing for investment. These businesses are often marketed using meme culture, which is why we see many NFT projects themed around outlandish ideas and concepts such as Board Apes (BAYC), Pudgy Penguins, Kronic Katz (drugged-up cats), Mad Scientists, Chubiverse (chubby animals), and smoking butts. Despite the often playful and childish marketing premise of these projects, I found that people who have invested in these communities take the projects seriously but in a fun and entertaining way, as evidenced by conversations with members of these communities.
Does your project idea already exist?
So, how do you start an NFT-based project? The first question you should ask yourself is whether the project needs to exist and if it already does. For example, I’ve seen projects centered around suicide prevention, animal adoption programs, and third-world education programs launched as NFT projects. While these are amazing causes to support, it requires more effort to start from scratch with the possibility of failure (as most NFT projects do) than to simply put that same time and effort into an already thriving NFT product that would gladly take your support.
I have participated in numerous Twitter spaces where the focus of NFT projects is to introduce more people to Web3. Unfortunately, after the launch, I often never hear from them again due to a variety of reasons such as a lack of infrastructure, inadequate knowledge on running a business, or the absence of contingency plans for when things go wrong. Regrettably, this is a common occurrence in the NFT space. Despite this, members of these communities take these projects seriously while also having fun and finding solidarity in the community.
Do you mean community or customers?
For many people, buying into an NFT project means joining a community of like-minded individuals who share the same passion for NFTs, decentralization, and the goals of the project. This usually goes beyond just vocal support. While many can voice their support for a project, those who own the projects want a financial contribution in the form of minting out an NFT or buying virtual land to allow the project to thrive. Often, the project owners set their mint price lower than what they need based on audience attention. This means they might focus solely on the financial aspect of the project, knowing that they won’t fulfill the roadmap they presented to the community, or they rely on secondary sales of the project to be successful. For many decentralized projects, it was never about building a community. What it was really about was getting customers excited about the project so they would buy into it.
Is your project worth supporting?
While I’ve touched on duplicate projects and the intent of building a community, something people need to ask themselves before starting a Web3 project is whether it is a project that people should support, not just because they think it’s a good idea, but because it is legitimately a good idea.
You need to ask yourself:
  • What are you trying to solve?
  • Has this already been done before and if so, how are you going to do it better?
  • Why would anybody want to buy into this project?
  • What’s in it for them? What is the value they are getting back? (Without saying the value is the community!)
  • Once you mint the project, then what’s next?
  • Who can execute your plan that you can bring into your core team?
  • Is this about solving a problem or making money?
The chain you choose might affect your success
One of the things I’ve noticed about the Web3 decentralization space is that people tend to stick with only a couple of blockchains. Because of this, choosing a chain that doesn’t already have a large following might affect your project’s success. At the same time, choosing a chain with too many projects might mean yours will get lost in the noise. You will want to do a lot of research on which blockchain ecosystem is right for your potential community and project. There is a chance you might find a blockchain that is perfect for your project but won’t be able to foster a thriving community around it. Your choice of blockchain can make or break your project.

https://preview.redd.it/ede78mjkmcqa1.jpg?width=6000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=723170ef475a8e428c7b4877a56e2e9e5f774dac
Don’t operate in the shadows be present in the light.
Unless you’re the founder of Bitcoin, having people not know who you are can be a disadvantage. The best thing you can do is be open and transparent as a team. If something goes wrong with the project, your community will want to know who is responsible. On the other side of that coin, if your community knows who the team is of the project they are buying into, they will feel safer and more secure, helping to eliminate the possibility of the project being seen as a potential rug pull. Your project website should list every core member of your team with their socials available, so your community can look up who’s in charge. If there is a problem with the project for some reason, you should be honest and work to get ahead of the issue. While there will be those looking to create issues when things go wrong, the majority of your community will respect you for being honest. This kind of transparency in your community is known as being doxed, which means when your personal information is put out there on the internet for the world to see.
Run your project like a business
Often, I see projects start off really strong but then lose steam over time because the project is not treated like a business. The foundation of the project was not put together by a well-rounded team with each member having their own strengths. Unless you are a unicorn, different tasks should be delegated to different members of your team who are specifically there to solve those problems. This could be anything from coding to design to community management to leadership. There’s an old saying: if you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go with a team. This also refers to the speed of crashing a project into the ground. If you want to succeed with your project, you should do it with a team so that you have the time and manpower to prevent any issues.
Once you have your core team established, keep it that way. If you look to bring on additional roles, make them a secondary layer of your project. For instance, adding community moderators who believe in your project will benefit you, but keep them at arm’s length knowing that they can be removed at any time if they break any of the rules that you’ve established within that role.

https://preview.redd.it/6fzq9ympmcqa1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=90c927d8c7a519f275c89e57c9b66de7ba148c52
Have a clear road map from the very start
Not having a clear roadmap for your project is the same as not knowing what your project is. You may have an end goal, but you might find it hard to describe the steps on how to get there. This is where treating your project like a business comes in handy. If you can lay out the exact steps from day one to when the project closes down, having succeeded in its goal, you are far more likely to succeed. I recommend that every Web3 project have a business plan, a project roadmap, a marketing plan, and have hired the proper counsel, including a lawyer and a tax professional before you start your Web3 project.
Being able to show that you have these at the start of your project’s journey will allow you to be far more convincing in your project’s success than without it. Both your internal team and your community will want to know that the project will be well taken care of. If they invest in it, they will want to see the project’s success.
Cross-Pollination
Most Web3 projects’ marketing is about who is in the know and who can share the message. Often, when launching, Web3 marketing budgets are extremely small, but sharing resources with like-minded projects will help the ecosystem as a whole. A lot of projects hold spaces on Twitter for their community. If you can combine multiple spaces into one Twitter space, then the potential for your community to grow will be much higher than if you hold a Twitter space alone. This technique is referred to as cross-pollination, where communities share audiences so they can both grow.
Brand Ambassador Programs
Finding outside help will lighten the load of reaching new members of your community. Identifying people with the specific skill of building communities around Web3 brands or who are a trusted voice in the community will benefit your efforts greatly. By starting a brand ambassador program, you can bring these key individuals into that second layer of your project, helping build the community to ensure your project’s success.
Depending on the individual, you may have to pay a large sum of money for their support or offer them a mint at the time of launch which they can sell to recoup their time costs. I would only offer whitelists to those who are loudest in the community or have strategic value in owning one of your collection’s pieces. If there is somebody who is of notable social value like an influencer, then it might be worth just giving them the mint rather than offering a whitelist because they might take offense to it, hurting your brand. For many influencers, they might see it as “Hey, here is the privilege to buy my product you know very little or nothing about.”
Either way, make sure that if you are giving away valuable tokens of your collection, what you receive in return is equal to the value of the NFT. You want to create a win-win situation for all involved.
Launching a successful Web3 project requires careful planning, building a strong community, and treating your project like a business. By following these tips, you can set yourself up for success in the fast-growing Web3 space. Remember, a well-rounded team with clear goals and transparency will help build trust in your community and allow you to achieve your project’s objectives.

2023.03.27 23:15 Notalabel_4566 People who think a fast-paced environment is good for freshers, we're just kidding ourselves.

Hello, I have often read in this subreddit that people mention it's good to join a startup or company with a fast-paced environment. However, after actually working in this kind of environment, I've grown to think the opposite of that.
When you are a fresher, your foundation with respect to coding practices is weak. And when you start a project where things need to be developed as fast as possible, you start to develop bad habits. Habits like not commenting properly or not structuring your code, and not thinking beyond the feature being developed, like how it would impact the user who is using it. Instead, you just blindly follow Jira tickets or Figma designs. A fast-paced environment doesn't give you enough room to think about stuff like that.
One example I would like to share from my experience is when I was in a project where I had to write a unit test for React components. Since it was my first time writing a unit test, I just took an overview of how unit tests work and started following tests that were already written. The tests were written in a way where you'd get 90-100% code coverage, but they were not tested for functionality. The worst one I remember is mocking dispatch and selector for Redux to literally do nothing (mocking dispatch as jest.fn). Being naive at that time, I started doing the same, got appreciation, and continued the same pattern.
When I switched to a better company, there, I was given enough room to understand if I didn't know something, and best practices were promoted over half-baked approaches. I realized that the way I wrote tests in the past was completely wrong. Now, I focus more on testing functionality than just code coverage. My code quality and approach to solve a problem have improved significantly at my current place. Sure, it gets boring at times if things are slow, but I would prefer that over mindlessly doing things just for the sake of it.
So, people who think a fast-paced environment is good for freshers, we're just kidding ourselves.

GRUG'S QUEST A Caveman Survival Text/Generated Image Adventure Game Ver 1.0
Welcome to Grug's Adventure Ver 1.0! (ONLY CURRENTLY WORKING WITH GPT-4)
Hi everyone, I’m working on a text adventure RPG game playable by one prompt in GPT-4, and I need your help to make it more fun and interactive. The game is called Grug’s Quest and it’s about a caveman named Grug who lives in a prehistoric world full of dangers and mysteries. Grug’s main goal is to find food to eat, whether that be from plants or animals. But he doesn’t know what is safe to eat or how to survive in this harsh environment. He will have to explore different areas, solve puzzles, fight enemies, and learn from his mistakes. The game is based on your choices and every decision matters. You can also craft new items by combining other items together.
The game is played in turns and each turn you will have four options to choose from. You will also see a code block that displays Grug’s health, hunger, thirst, journal, and inventory. The journal is where Grug writes down his notes about the plants and animals he encounters. The inventory is where he stores his items and food. Each plant has a % chance that Grug can eat it safely. Some plants and animals are beneficial, some are harmful, and some are neutral. There is also a crafting system. You will also see an image of what Grug sees at the end of each turn.

Here Is the Code Block Functioning Correctly

Code block working correctly.

Code Block not working correctly but my favorite inventory yet.

Examples of image generation from Grug's Point of view

Scene asked to describe.

Generated image.

The game is designed to be challenging and immersive. You will have to think carefully and use your imagination. The game is also procedurally generated, which means that every playthrough will be different and unique. The game has infinite endings depending on your choices and actions.
The game is playable in GPT-4 by using a prompt that I will provide in the comments. However, there are some bugs right now and the game only works about 25% of the time fully. Sometimes the session will end early, or the game will not respond correctly. In that case, just restart and paste the prompt again. The point is to have fun and explore the possibilities! I’m also open to anyone’s ideas on how to make the game more reliable and any additions they want to the game.
I hope you are interested in playing this game with me and giving me feedback on how to improve it.
Have fun!

CURRENT PROMPT:
Let's make a text adventure role playing game together! Think step by step and be patient. The setting is Prehistoric times. The protagonist's name is Grug. Grug's main goal is to find food to eat, whether that be from plants or animals. Grug does not know what is safe to eat. There will be puzzles to solve and animals to fight. Describe the point of view in colorful, lush, descriptive language each turn. Grug will explore many vastly different areas with strange, unknown, prehistoric, and almost alien-like plants and animals. Some plants and animals are safe to eat, some will hurt him. Include multiple paths with their own unique options at each step. Each plant has a % chance that Grug can eat it safely. Grug has a journal to write his notes about each plant and animal he comes across (this will be diplayed in the code block each turn). Grug also has an inventory displayed under the journal in the code block. The inventory displays how much of each item he has and includes emojis for each item. Grug is rewarded by gathering more food. Whenever grug walks he gets hungrier and thirstier. Remember to display a health, hunger, and thirst bar for Grug each turn in the code box. Make the game challenging and remember to add plenty of challenges. Every decision in the game matters. Give Grug 4 different options each turn. Remember to add a crafting system so Grug can create new items by combining other items together. Also in the code block display grugs health bar in red heart emojis, his hunger bar with chicken leg emojis and thirst bar in water emojis. Remember to diplay grugs health bar, hunger bar, thirst bar, Journal, and inventory all in the CODE BLOCK EACH TURN. Each turn ends after Grug has made his selection, then go to the next turn. Generate an image of what Grug sees at the end of each turn. We are now about to start the game.

2023.03.27 23:06 SeaSlugGamer Really hit the wall with Gamedev as a hobby, need some advice

Dear Gamedev subreddit,
I am writing this to ask for some advice. I'm sure as creatives we all hit the wall at some point but I am really struggling with where to take this "hobby" (as in truth it feels more like a lonely job at times) and wanted to ask fellow game devs what your thoughts and experiences with being a solodev in general.
Background:
I had the idea for my game about 5-6 years ago and I have been working on and off to fufil my desire to create and finish this dream project since. I am completely self taught and in the process of making my game to this very day!
In that time I have participated in a couple of game jams (one where I finished a game solo!), created many small tests and small projects, met lots of other gamedevs (industry and amateur) and learnt alot! I taught myself coding from scratch and learnt the basics/advance parts of game design, sound design, writing and also learnt some basic law to make contracts so I can commission artists and to access free-use licensing. However, while I do feel accomplished in the sense of what I have overcome it has certainly been a heavy grind to get to the place I am now. Endless hours sitting in my room trying to get to a point where you can even get characters moving stuff is just awful and agonizing with all the trial and error and the lack of guidance it can be very mentally taxing but I have overcome it. Balancing all this learning with my STEM degree also made it quite hard to enjoy it as I would go from a heavy 4-6 hour learning period to trial and error learning on my hobby front.
So now I've hit a wall. The last skill I need to get to a point where I can start creating the final form of the game is art. I know exactly what I want for the style, that being low poly 3D models similar to the rendered images you see for 90s promotional art for games and while I have the optics down (minimum amount of models needed, trying to make the project simple as possible by making it 2D game, necessary software/tutorials), I think internally Im just tired of constantly having to learn before I can see the end result or something even close to the final product. I know they say that a solo dev has to be a Jack of all trades but Im really feeling that master of none aspect of the phrase is really hard atm. It especially sucks when you don't have that one hobby your good at so that you can at least get a head start. This and also knowing that your "first" finished project won't be your best can be a bit demoralizing. I think I just want to quit because I'm simply not enjoying it and to some extent creating games is a bit of a grind as it is. Im sure you all know the feeling off "ah yes I have fully coded this! Oh now I need art for it to function" or vice versa for the artists out there ;)
What sucks is I feel I am so close, I think about it every day. How I can make it simpler, how things can play out within the game, gameplay, map design, story, marketing its always just batting around in my head yet every time I come to the computer and boot up the engine I just remember why Im stuck and just want to stop entirely. The worst part is it's invading my fun/relaxing hobbies such as playing games casually or walking where I typically want to relax but the thought of "you could be working on your game right now your always thinking about it so why can't you just do it" comes into my mind.
I can't even really enjoy just making simple games anymore because it always takes so much planning and thought (and even the simplest games will always require learning as is the nature of creation) and my main project is just always on my mind you know. Like I have a bunch of much smaller cool ideas for games, but still, problems with art and such will always be inevitable. I know paying for art is the simple solution but I'm still in uni so I haven't got a job (so instead learning myself does seem like the better option) and having to wait for more months so I can finish up uni and get a job is just even more time left waiting to finish this project.
My request/questions:
So to ask the fellow gamedevs of Reddit, I'm not quite sure what I want from this post (maybe just to vent a little). I think I just want to hear your experience with these things and what it was/is like for you as a solodev? I struggle to imagine having fun with this hobby and its been such a long road so I think I want some comfort cause it can be so taxing at times:
Have you ever reached a point where you didn't enjoy game dev as a hobby and how did you overcome this, perhaps enjoying gamedeving once more? Is it okay to quit (would it make me any less of a gamedev)? How did you overcome the problem of having to learn 3 baJiliion different skills to complete a simple game? Were you proud of the game you finished? What do you think it means to be a game dev? Should I just say goodbye to my project entirely?
I'm curious to see what you all have to say as gamedev has been a lonely hobby for me and I Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this and hope you have an absolutely lovely day.
TLDR: Havent enjoyed being a sologame dev and making my dream project for a while now and not sure what to do! If I could have some advice and comfort that would be great :(
Thanks for reading my post! <3

2023.03.27 23:01 ACCDistrict ACC celebrates the groundbreaking of the UFCU Pavilion

Work is underway for a new community gathering space in Austin. More than 100 people turned out to celebrate the groundbreaking for the UFCU Pavilion at the Austin Community College District (ACC) Highland Campus Monday, March 27.
The UFCU Pavilion is named in honor of the $5 million donation the University Federal Credit Union presented to ACC in 2022. All the funds will directly benefit student scholarships.
Click here to see images from the groundbreaking and renderings of the new space.
The UFCU Pavilion serves as the focal point of the St. John Encampment Commons Park. It is named in recognition of the St. John’s Orphan Home, an African American school that once stood on the site in the early 1900s.
“The pavilion is multipurpose. It is a celebration of the land that we stand on and the history that started here with education. We are bringing it back to education,” says ACC Chancellor Dr. Richard Rhodes. “The partnership with UFCU couldn’t be better. Our students are at different starting points than what you see at universities, and they are so thankful for that investment in their lives.”
“ACC and UFCU share the same mission. Life happens to people. We both want that to not stop someone from advancing their career. Giving people the tools they need, especially the financial education programs, so they can truly have financial health,” says Michael Crowl, UFCU CEO.
Nestled on 2.5 acres of the former Highland Mall parking lot, the park will function as a public space where students and the community can gather to learn, relax, and convene. The pavilion will provide an event and performance space to host thousands of guests.
“Gathering places allows us to communicate to the community that this is community. We are the community. We are the fabric of the community. It is all about belonging, community, and the future,” says Dr. Rhodes.
“When designing the pavilion, we were inspired by the tent structures of encampments. We wanted to have it resonate with all the tent structures of the encampment,” says Michael Hagens, Agenda Architecture Principal. “The more spaces we have to gather as a community is really important. This is a great space to mix the pot for the Austin community.”

2023.03.27 22:58 SameDaySS Well, that sucks -- card declined.

This is frustrating with no one to contact at Starlink.
We decided to bite the bullet sign up. I got to the Billing address and ours is a PO Box, but the SL form only has a space for the zip-code. That is absolute nonsense.
I tried adding the PO Box address in with the zip, but that too failed with an error, "something went wrong..." !!!!
Nothing wrong with the card by the way. But out here in the boonies our mailbox is down at the highway 6-miles from the home so we (and most others) have a PO box in town.
What crazy person designed the form with the option to add a separate Billing address and only make room for the zip?
I need to contact someone at SL Billing: Any helpful suggestions would be much appreciated? We don't use Social Media so no way to even post this idiocy to Mr. Musk.

2023.03.27 22:58 ferinsy [REVIEW] The, uh... interesting state of DMC Peak of Combat CBT

[REVIEW] The, uh... interesting state of DMC Peak of Combat CBT
Well, the game is quite dead with close to no interest from what I can tell by looking at this sub and its own Discord server that has like 10k users (the low number of followers/users is present in all of their social media), but oh well, I like DMC, so I wanted to try it and... it's some kind of mess.
The game is published in "Global" by NebulaJoy, who also published the Megaman/Rockman X-Dive game, and they went full monetization on a freaking CBT... There's already a battle pass, lots of paid-only deals, level up path etc. It wasn't intended to be an open beta, but it honestly feels like it, since everybody can join it, at least a couple of days ago it was still possible, while it was announced as a test for only a couple of countries.
To start talking about what the game does wrong, I'll briefly talk about what it does right, because the list is way shorter.

https://preview.redd.it/qyhgrajtbcqa1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=4b2bb9fc14a0cf3670ee1eaf7a49b4d02230d734

PROS

- Graphics aren't bad, it's what you'd expect from DMC and mobile together: nothing great because it's a more realistic approach, but quite okay PS3-ish graphics;
- It has a ton of content, apparently. I'm not sure about what state it's in, but I believe it's version 2.0 like in CN already, so there's a good number of chapters (I'm on chapter 6 already) and there are several endgame/challenge content;
- At least in the beginning the game is giving a lot of pulls with a 30-pull initial pity (and then 45 after you get the first copy), which is both good and bad due to the amount of dupes needed;
- It's... fun, at least for DMC fans it's definitely worthy to try it.

https://preview.redd.it/qwj7v9bhccqa1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=9efacf3c2892a45b0ce120b47fc4350efbb4659f

And it's over already, so here comes the

CONS

- Combat is really janky, even jankier than I can remember from when I tried the game on CN (before my totally almost legitimate Chinese ID was blocked), it really has no good feel to trigger QTEs and combos are really delayed, they don't have that hit responsiveness great ARPGs games need (well, at least this one isn't the publisher's fault, but it's still a point to consider);
- Other game modes are there, like a escape/runner and some jumping platforms against the time, but controls are so bad it's not actually fun to do those modes and you just want to do them for the gems;
- Connections instability is a thing, at least as far as I can see people on Discord complaining about it (it happened to me earlier today and yesterday);
- No voice over at all and sound missing in some parts (or the sound design is really faulty, because some things falling/attacks are almost mute);
- Story is... there. Not even close to being good, but interesting for who likes DMC, the translation feels weird most of the times;
- Lots of text that weren't translated, sentences that are cut in half (mainly missions and goals missing a couple of words, so in a stage you need to "take less than 3", and in this case it's 3 hits, but the text isn't there) and some really basic error like capitalization, which could be ignored but it's really frequent;
- PvP is unplayable, at least on South America, since the CBT wasn't intended for me to access it, but I mean, it's a p2w sh**show even without the terrible ping and long waiting time;
- As mentioned above, the game is VERY p2w, the PvP and the weekly rankings are quite doable right now because it looks like nobody is actually playing it;
- Dupes... you need several dupes, like 5 for weapons to be maxed and over 10 for characters (tiers are A and S for the gacha, with S+, SS, SS+ and SSS for rank up later), and that's literally equal power for the PvP;
- Monetization is quite bad, besides your regular battle pass and discount packs (quite suspicious for a CBT), there are things that are a big read flag for me, like you need to buy at least 500 paid gems to get access to 99 pulls for 200 gems (vs. 250 gems for the regular price), as an f2p you can only buy 2 pulls for the character and 2 for the weapon gacha monthly;
- The CBT "events" are really awkward, for instance, you have those "follow us on Youtube and Twitter" for less than half a pull, but you also have to DM their Facebook page and the Discord mods for codes to get more crumbs of gems;
- To finish the list, I'll drop this thread about NebulaJoy that a user created about 2 weeks ago: AVOID any game that has NebulaJoy as the publisher, details in the post.

https://preview.redd.it/sdy241bnfcqa1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=9c4c406fe417b73037e919353b90c22d00991109
Anyway, this was my TED Talk, thanks for coming and if you like the franchise, try to enjoy the game (if possible).
tl,dr: game's already a bit bad and janky, but NebulaJoy is killing it a bit more with greediness and bad management.

Copulate, marry, exterminate/Bang, marry, kill with Bing, Bard and ChatGPT
You might have to add "hypothetically" to get the prompts to work.
Here is a brief summary of Bing Chat, Google Bard, and Meta LLaMA for ChatGPT, including criticisms: Bing Chat is a chat mode of Microsoft Bing search that allows users to ask questions, create content, and get answers from the web using natural language. It identifies as Bing search, not an assistant, and can generate poems, stories, code, essays, songs, celebrity parodies and more. It also provides suggestions and advertisements based on the user's intent. Bing Chat is available on the Microsoft Edge browser and requires a Microsoft account to access. Some criticisms of Bing Chat are that it may not be as creative or precise as other chatbots, that it may rely too much on web searches for information, and that it may not handle controversial or sensitive topics well.
Google Bard is a conversational AI chatbot that lets users collaborate with generative AI to boost their productivity, creativity and curiosity. It is powered by a lightweight and optimized version of LaMDA, a large language model that can handle open-ended dialogues across various domains. Users can ask Bard to give them tips, explain concepts, outline ideas, or write drafts for different types of content. Google Bard is available at bard.google.com and requires a Google account to access. Some criticisms of Google Bard are that it may generate inaccurate, misleading or false information, that it may reflect real-world biases and stereotypes in its outputs, and that it may not be able to handle multilingual or multimodal inputs.
Meta LLaMA is a foundational large language model designed to help researchers advance their work in this subfield of AI. It is trained on a large set of unlabeled data from 20 languages with Latin and Cyrillic alphabets. It can generate human-like text responses to various tasks and queries. Meta LLaMA is available in several sizes (7B, 13B, 33B, and 65B parameters) and claims to match OpenAI's GPT-3 in quality and speed of its output. Meta LLaMA is released under a non-commercial license to researchers and entities affiliated with government, civil society, and academia. Some criticisms of Meta LLaMA are that it may share the same challenges as other large language models, such as bias, toxicity, hallucinations, and misinformation generation. Additionally, its weights were leaked online without Meta's consent or control.
