2023.03.28 00:25 The_Celtic_Hunter Gta6 idea/ discussion.

Gta 6 will no doubt have an amazing story but the online is where my worry lies. Rockstar failed rdo and frankly gtao isn't good, its just not enjoyable. So I'm gonna rant about the flaws of gtao, and my main two fixes or ideas for gta6
What made gtao unenjoyable
All these futuristic shit lost the emerson and the fact there is no real progress and reward for putting hard work in. So how can it be improved.
Darknet jobs
These are like the missions in rdo that characters like sean and joe give you. Jobs would range from a hitman to destroying property. It would have it's own reputation system and levels that get you rewards.
Car cargo, weapon production, all drug operations and all cargo exports should be under one "organisation"
The MC and Organisation can really all just be one organisation that you have the ability to pick the name of. Call it a crime syndicate, a cartel, a motorbike club, a crime family or just plainly an organisation. They all are really the same it's just for aesthetic purposes. Every operation (drug production, weapon production etc) can be leveled up and effect each other in positive ways. For example any drug lab and exports allows you to export the drugs further locations all over the world. Every business starts at a low level which requires you to do every bit of the work but after leveling up the business an associate that works for you do it and because if NPCs did all the work for you it get pretty boring so that's why you could play as one of your workers. This creates the illusion of getting good so to speak, it says that your player is more important than they started. The organisation as a whole has levels that unlock shit like if a rival sends a hitman(self explanatory) or death squad(basically merry whether mercenarys) after you, you get a call saying that "a hitman/death squad is after you". If you are higher level than them this always happens but if lower level there is a 50/50 chance of this happening. If you were able to have rivals and allies that be cool like if a friend has a max export business and you have all drug shit and no export business you can strike a deal that they use your business to smuggle their drugs and you get a cut of the profits. Weapon production always you to pick what weapons your organisation uses and a car export thing always you to pick what vehicle you organisation uses. Also they can drive you around and have a car in front of you and behind you like your the president of the USA. Also you can dress your combat units in outfits and have up to 3 variants for each type of combat units.
The kinds of your combat units are as follows; soldiers(Basic units nothing special about them) Bodyguards(They guard you with there life and have heavier armour and better weapons) Hitman(self explanatory, can be controlled by the player) Death squads( like bodyguards they pack a punch with heavier armour and a special unit that has the option of a grenade launcher attachment) Elite soldiers(basically military, big armoured cars, big guns and are very expensive to set up. They are like business they cost that much, only for when you have everything maxed out)
End
So what you think of my lil ideas? Simple but I really would like something like this, what would you add or remove? And a I don't speak the best English but hopefully you can understand what I'm saying!

2023.03.27 22:52 the-overloaf is anyone else disappointed by this years (2023) birthday cards?

Aesthetically speaking, the birthday cards for this year suck ass. The memoirs are pretty, but lacking. I don't mind the whole 'taking on a role others have played before' thing, but the reuse of outfits is just plain lazy. And the Encore girls... absolutely hate how they don't have a bond story of their own. It's the same stage girl as before, just with different skills and new art. It feels like it goes against the whole "yesterdays you is a different you" and "each stage is different, even with the same play" themes Starlight has. I realize there's a difference between Encore and Rerun, but still. The 2022 Birthday cards were SO much better, even if the memoirs were lacking still.

2023.03.27 17:46 Atomic-Angel Is it possibe to learn what looks good on you as a teenager?

I’m 17 and I love fashion! I’ve been trying to curate my style into the aesthetics that I love and what looks good on me! I’m obsessed with old Hollywood and it’s actresses and I noticed the reasons why the actresses always looked amazing because, their clothes were made for them! (and they had an entire team ready to fix any problems lol) I was a little scared to ask this for a while because I was worried people were going to shut me down. I just want to know if I can know certain things now. I understand with kibbe system and probably any other body typing methods that I have to wait until I'm 25 because that's when my body is done developing. Is there an age appropriate method I can use or at least know my essence? I notice some outfits that I try to put together look boxy or frumpy. And there's certain colors that dim or washout my skin's shine.

2023.03.27 16:56 BadgerlordTasso My complete thoughts on the D4 Beta and my hopes for the game

I had a strange experience with the Beta. I participated in both Betas thanks to the purchase of a tiny Sandwich. And initially my thoughts on the game were, to sum it up in a single word, “Meh.” I played for a few hours, thinking that The combat was fine, the world looked fine, the game played fine. Everything was fine. The game then crashed and I had to wait in a 90 minute queue and decided that I think I had seen enough anyway and dismissed it as a passable game that I could just ignore and have fun with the wealth of other ARPGs I had in my library that I enjoyed.
Would be boring if I left it that though, wouldn’t it? Getting over my initial disappointment was difficult, but I gave it a day and played other games before I decided to give it another try. Maybe I was having a bad day and my life was influencing my decisions more than the game was. So I logged back in on Saturday afternoon. Thankfully the queues were much shorter to nearly non-existent.
I started over. I picked Sorcerer as my class and headed out on my journey. I dunno if it was because I was just having a better day or if something finally clicked but I found myself having a great time. But I still had this nagging feeling in the back of my head and sometimes I just need to write it all out. So I submit to you all, all of my thoughts on the Beta. The Great, The good, The bland, the bad and the unknown.
I also want to be 100% Clear, I'm not going to complain at all about DCs, Queues, Etc... as that's what the Beta is there to help weed out. Overall, The connection was fine and the only thing I bring up are a few worrying technical issues like the Memory Leek which I presume they will fix.
The Great
The Good
The Bland
The Bad
The Unknown
Everything so far is stuff that Was in the Beta that I could actively form feelings on, but there are some unknown things that I would like to know the answers to. These are things that we either didn’t get to see in the Beta, are questions that aren’t answered in the Beta, etc… Not entirely good or bad (apart from one).
The Classes
I played all five classes in the beta to get a feel of how they were. I admit I didn’t get every one of them to level 25, I didn’t have time. But, I played Wizard, Druid, and Barbarian to level 20 (Druid to 25), and Rogue and Necromancer to level 15/16 and Here are my thoughts on all of them.
The Barbarian
Without a doubt, My least favorite class in the game. This isn’t a surprise to me, it’s always my least favorite class in every Diablo game. I find them just plain boring. You run up to monsters and hit them with your weapons, and/or shout at them a lot. It’s not really entertaining to me. They feels slow, boring, and lumbering. I tried many different builds and found none of them to be particularly powerful or fun with a minor exception and It’s a class I just can never seem to get into.
To give it credit where it’s due, I did love that Charge and Kick actually displaced enemies, throwing them against walls and each other etc… I think that could be where I have the most fun with this class. But against bosses I felt like I could do next to 0 damage and it was incredibly dull when I got to that point. The idea of leveling weapon stats is actually really nice as well, I didn’t get to unlock anything more due to Beta restrictions, maybe that changes things up. Unknown! Won’t be playing during release at the very least. I can’t say if it’s a good class or not, it’s just not for me and that’s OK.
The Rogue
The class I spent the least amount of time with, but, still enjoyed to an extent. I think the Beta in general has a problem with melee builds but I am not entirely sure if that’s a Beta only thing or not. The Rogue was more fun in melee than the Barbarian and had flashier attacks. I primarily however played it as a ranged character and found some of the bow skills to be a bit… shall we say… bland? They All consisted of Shoot arrow. Shoot Arrow faster, Shoot a couple more Arrows, Shoot a couple more arrows in an arc in front of you. Effective yes, but… eh. Doesn’t help that the crossbow is painfully slow.
I did have a lot of fun once you get to the traps though. Setting a poison trap then caltropsing backwards as my enemies melted. Launching them into a trap using what I came to refer to as the “Get the F away from me” Arrow. That was where the fun lied for me and I had a great time. Never could enjoy the melee aspect of it though, just felt too weak in the beta.
The combo points stuff really made for a good time though, and I liked that they added that in, I hoped to get more time with it but other classes had to be played. I liked it overall and think that it would be fun to play on release. I also like that for this, and other classes, you had all your weapons equipped and didn't have to hard choose between Melee and Ranged, or, Spells vs Non spells. That was a great touch.
The Necromancer
I think this class is way overtuned in the Beta. Without a doubt the easiest time I had playing the Beta was with the Necro. It was one of the only melee classes I felt could fully function, while also having some awesome options for ranged and DoT based combat.
Of all the classes the Necro’s specialization with it’s skeleton pets is the most interesting and way more thought out than the others. The customization options you get are varied and interesting, and It kind of made me with the other classes had better options than they did. (Again barring the ones we can’t access yet). I think this was a ton of fun but again it was just so powerful that it felt almost like cheating. I played on Veteran difficulty the entire Beta and with Necro it still felt too easy. I was doing more damage by level 10 than I could with my level 20 barbarian, and my pets kept me safe. If I had any complaints, it’s that I still don’t love how the corpses on the ground look. They feel out of place, but I understand why they need to be visible to the player.
The Sorcerer
Having put over 1000 hours into it in D3’s Wizard, I felt this is the class I could see the most differences with. I started with Frost and enjoyed it but It felt a bit bland when fighting bosses. Good for filling the stagger meter, but I couldn’t deal much damage once I got it staggered anyway. I then switched to lightning and had much more fun blowing up hordes of enemies. The legendary items I got all seemed to want me to be lightning based so I went with it and it showed how much the aspects change your gameplay.
The class mastery for Sorcerer is a biiit meh. You get to enhance an ability to do an additional thing in the beta (Looks like two past Beta) but the enhancements weren’t exactly all exciting. All of them were passives like with Hydra, every so often you get a hydra with additional heads… woo.
Overall, felt like this was a great place to start and had a decent balance of abilities. Felt easy once I switched to Lightning but again, class balance before the endgame isn’t exactly something that I expect to be perfect, nor does it need to be.
The Druid
Ohhhh… Oh druid. My favorite class in D2, mainly because I loved the Werebear and Werewolf forms. Going into D4 I had fully intended to just be a Werebear or Werewolf druid and never look back. I was disappointed though with how they treated druid at first.
Yes, I’m one of the people that didn’t like that every Druid has to be as large as they were. I’m fat IRL too, not shaming anyone for that, heck I like that that body type is in the game, but I don’t think they look good in the game’s engine. I would have preferred an option to create my character then choose a class, let me be what I wanted to be. That said, once I started getting armor and such, the look did grow on me a bit. They did a good job with the animation at least, and the helms in particular really are awesome looking for Druid.
My disappointment didn’t stop there though. The Werebear and Werewolf forms… they made me sad.. The forms look fine, but you can’t stay in them. You stay in them for 3 seconds or so then revert back unless you continue to attack in those forms. I know I’m biased on this so it’s not technically a negative, it’s just something I liked in the old game. On top of all that the fur color is specific to your hair color which while it's a nice touch, I would have liked to have seen that in the creator. I must have remade my druid four times to get a fur color and pattern I liked. I’ve also been told there is a unique that lets you keep your form, but That’s not in the Beta so I can’t pass judgment on it.
THAT ASIDE… I probably had the most fun playing the druid than the other classes. I started with Werebear but found, like the Barbarian, it was just not strong enough. I switched to Werewolf and had fun there, then I tried Earth, Lightning and Air builds. This is another class that didn’t click until I got legendaries and boy… did it click. I swapped to what I now call the Windy Werewolf. (Sounds like a Mega Man X Maverick doesn’t it?) A combination of the speed of the werewolf and Wind abilities together worked wonders. I got an aspect that let my tornadoes zero in on my enemies and was able to melt just about everything I came against. It felt so good. This alone showed me just how much variety a class can have in just the items you find and that the game doesn't actively rail against you in how you experiment. So in the end, I loved it more for it.
I don’t know what class I’ll play on release. Right now it’s Druid, but Necro and Wizard were so fun as well… gonna be a tough one!
Bringing it all together
So, you’re still here? Well, if ya are. Thank you for listening to my rantings. The game went from meh, to “I look forward to playing this in June.” Pretty quickly, but I’m not 100% head over heels in love with every aspect of it. There are things I wish were different, there are things I feel are just aspects of the Beta being weird. In the end I was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t hate the skill tree, I was surprised how much fun I had with what I thought would be bland and repetitive events, only to remember “Oh yeah, i do the same 10 events 1000 times in D3 so how is this different?” The game is fun to play, fun to experiment with, and a joy to live in this horrific world. I worry a lot about how they will try to monetize it, and I worry about the cosmetics muddying the darker aesthetic they are going for.
The game so far feels like they took the best parts of D2, and the best parts of D3 and combined them together and I’m cautiously optimistic about the final release. It’s all going to come down to how they monetize it I think. If I catch a whiff of the BS they pulled with Diablo Immoral… Diablo himself would cower at my wrath.
I look forward to the games release. Thank you all for reading, try not to sin too much eh?

2023.03.27 14:30 underlightning69 How my father’s wedding and Lana Del Rey’s new album made me realise that I was a Theatrical Romantic

Let me preface this by saying that this isn’t a journey that has come easy to me, that I’ve taken lightly or that has been quick. This is a new Reddit account, but for the entirety of 2022 I posted here as “just_happy_cheese” before I tried to delete Reddit in the new year (lol). I’ve been researching and wondering for a long time, but I finally had my “aha!” moment and I thought people might find some use from it.
So. Theatrical romantic, the type that people think everyone wants to be. Well, not me. I wanted to be Kate Moss. The idea of being a romantic in any sense felt wrong to me - I’m not feminine, I’m not conventionally super curvy, I basically wrote off R and TR as soon as I heard about Kibbe.
I did the quiz and got soft classic, like many, and that didn’t feel right, so I favoured Dramatic Classic (despite being 5’4 and knowing I wasn’t elongated). I didn’t like the “tailored chic” idea but I told myself it looked good. Oh sweet summer child, it did not. But anyway, this was a year ago. There was a long journey of DC > SC < SN ahead of me, even some moments of “maybe SG?”
Never once did I think I was in the romantic family at all. I was still in the mindset of, I’m Yang, I have such a Yang “vibe”, and if I’m not Yang then I must be balanced. I did typing posts, I got every response under the sun as many do. Some were convinced I was SN, and I tried it. But I knew almost immediately that I didn’t have the bone structure for it - even by looking at the verified examples. And SN is the type that I would most love to be, but I had a couple friends who were definitely SN and I simply looked bad in many things they looked great in.
So, anyway, my dad’s wedding was recently, about a month ago. By this point I was having a long Kibbe break, I felt untypable and nothing felt right. Fabric didn’t fall gracefully on me like a classic, and I look plain as hell in simple outfits (I also just looked very short in a lot of the recommendations). All this time, I didn’t realise that the very occasional soft, fitted glam outfit that accommodates for petite, that I wore on the (again very occasional) night outs, with extra jewellery and more powerful makeup, was where I looked my most incredible. Or maybe I didn’t want to admit that. Because that look requires effort, and like many I suffer from mental health issues that preclude me from making effort a lot of the time.
But for my dad’s wedding, I wanted to make an effort. With no ID in mind at all, I chose a short, fit & flare, romantic looking playsuit - a gorgeous number from Urban Outfitters (UK) if anyone’s interested. It was a bit of a purchase on a whim - I was rushing after work and just liked it enough for a wedding whilst enjoying that it was dark colours still. Lol.
Anyway, I looked amazing in it. It felt like ME. And I didn’t think about Kibbe at all during this time - I know one outfit does not an ID make. But then Lana Del Rey’s new album came out, and this is an album that feels so right with that outfit. I started to wear more things like that, and started adding a smokey soft eye, and pretty necklaces. Despite it being feminine, I always needed to keep it a bit edgy. And please bear in mind, this is after an entire year of trying to be anything other than romantic-looking. I’m also fully aware that any type can wear any aesthetic - I mean Lana herself is a tall type!
But the new aesthetic and outfits did get me thinking that I’d written off Romantic pretty quickly without looking into them. I’d felt too awkward for them. Now, I’m about the same weight as Selena is in 2023 (not model skinny but not particularly plus sized), and most Kibbe examples are women at lower weights. I noticed I carried my weight similarly, even though I do not look like Selena Gomez (I wish). I also realised that the “TR face” thing would apply to me. And I started to be suspicious that maybe… just maybe. So back to my research I went. And my god. It just fit. Accommodating petite and double curve, check. I didn’t even believe I was petite until I started accommodating for it, despite the fact that I wore some items of children’s clothing until well into my 20s and have known for a while that my ribs sit almost directly on top of my hips. I also didn’t realise I had double curve until I gained weight because I fell into the trap of “small boobs = no double curve” (despite straight silhouettes always, always looking really weird around my bust area unless it was oversized & covering it completely - which meant of course that I always wore oversized).
Despite the fact that I feel I should feel like an impostor, I don’t. It fits me so well. A lot of the stereotypical TR aesthetic isn’t even what I’d go for and probably won’t wear, but the accommodations are the ONLY ones that work for me.
If you’ve read this far, thank you for listening. This journey has been crazy but I’m excited to keep going now!

2023.03.27 05:51 RevanAvarice Looking for centerline battery cruisers among the Faction Mods (and low-cost drones)

I was having some instability issues that tweaking vmparams and the config settings weren't fixing (Java8 is up to date), so I opted for a reinstall on my mods folder, so its tabula rasa again for a campaign launch.
I've been having fun with a lot of cruisers, in particular the ifed ones from Interstellar Federation (refurbished), but that is one of the mods I chose not to reinstall (hidden systems built into those ships were messing up).
Looking for cruisers that have their primary weapon batteries along the centerline, with arcs of 210-270* would be optimal. Basically being able to flex the Mediums around; I am not expecting to find Cruisers with 2 Large mounts on the centerline with wide arcs, but something similar to what Keptin and Weftin were each working on. Boy, they were fun ships though; loved that aesthetic, but they felt a bit anemic at times for as much pixels as they took up.
There is one candidate I am looking at from Tartiflette's O.R.A that looks promising.
The doctrine I would like to build the fleet around is to be able to take 10-11 of these bastards into a 240 CR fight. In Vanilla, I did this with 5 Apogees (90), 5 Eagles (110), backlined by a Conquest (40) outfitted with a single broadside I would pilot around, and make beep-beep-beep noises as I had to back it up. Was a neat package followed along by a couple of CRigs, some Phaetons, and some bulk freighters.
Minimize the amount of Small mounts, and especially any spinal (fixed) mounts except Missiles, while intending any hangar bays for low-cost drones to serve as PD/chaff.
I get it, Catamaran aesthetics look really cool, but modern naval gunnery has already moved past that last century, and we are technically operating on a flat 2D plane with layers at most. Arc is everything to me.

2023.03.27 04:19 OrangePhilosophy 29 [M4F] [Dallas] A simple, normal conversation about femininity

Now, to be clear, this has nothing to do with me wanting to dress or behave more femininely. I just happen to have a very specific interest in women who take their appearance or their own femininity very seriously. There’s something about the way that women seem to fixate on makeup, hair, outfits, their own aesthetic, and the image that they broadcast to the world that really, really interests me.
So basically what I am posting for is a conversation topic that would cover any of these areas. I am interested in talking about the following purely as examples of future conversation:
Makeup techniques, brands, styles that you prefer or have favored over the years.
The same about outfits. Do you prefer heels? Flats? Another type of shoe entirely?
Have you ever worked at a job where you felt as if your appearance was one of the central reasons that you had the job? I’m thinking ‘eye candy’ specific occupations.
In the interest of making this an equal exchange of ideas, thoughts, etc, I want this to be a conversation. I do not want to be the only one coming up with things to ask or say. This isn’t simply a one-sided 20 questions. I am genuinely hopeful that I will make a new friend on here!
My name is Rick and I’m from Dallas, Texas. I have a degree in business from one of the nearby universities and I just turned 29 years old. My interests include working on my car, catching up on television shows (I’m weirdly into the Bachelor), and getting into highly charged political debates that never really solve anything.
I am only interested in having an online friendship/conversation. I will never, ever ask you for pictures or verification of your identity.

2023.03.27 00:16 Fancy_Tea_6182 What I think went wrong with PR 14

I'll break it down per contestant:
Duncan: I think they actually had VERY high hopes for him going int othe season. They aren't going to pay for a contestant to come from NZ unless they were very impressed with him. His first look was VERY polarizing, some loved it and some hated it. Tbh though, rewatching the judging I'm honestly thinking they may have initially planend to keep him though. You can tell Heidi's face is completely crest-fallen when Duncan openly says he didn't really have a clear story/point of view. I actually think they originally planned on eliminating Blake first based on the way Heidi talked to him but changed it to Duncan when they realized his heart really wasn't into the competition. One of their top people was gone immediately.
- David: I think they were kind of mixed on him going into the season if I had to guess. But very hopeful. If nothing else though he had a really interesting point of view. That being said, I think their hands were kind of tied behind their back with him in that he wasn't really following the competition rules. His eliminated look had little to nothing to do with the challenge, he kind of just did his own thing. He also was one of the designers who didn't bring his tools to the compeitition. Really sweet guy and I think the judges were very disappointed that the reason why they had to eliminate him was due to the fact they couldn't count on him following the rules.
- Han Miao: This type of designer is always kind of hit or miss, they're cast partially for entertainment and very hit/miss designs. I think the judges were hopeful there'd be more hits than misses but I don't think they were super shocked when she missed more than she hit.
- Gabrielle: I know most people think she was probably cast for fodder but I actually think they had real high hopes for her. They don't cast somebody who is boring television unless they have high hopes for them (see somebody like Leanne). She was a Parsons graduate and had her designs in stores prior to the season. PR didn't work out for her though, she really struggled.
- Amanda: I think they were taking a chance on her but weren't expecting her to make it super far. She had a very unique point of view for sure. I don't think they were expecting her to completely flop but I don't think they had real high hopes for her either. I think she was cast mainly for personality and because she had a very distinctive way of designing but not a serious winner candidate.
- Blake: I feel like he was cast to be an early boot tbh. His deisgn aesthetic was VERY niche. He surprisingly ended up adapting to PR better than I think they were expecting. Still not great by any means but this was perhaps one of the few pleasant surprises the judges got this season. I will say I think originally they may have intended to eliminate him first as they ripped his first outfit apart and Heidi seemed to set him up for failure with her questions. Than suddenly during critique they said "well, at least he has ideas" (probably after Duncan's response they decided to eliminate him).
- Jake: I think he was cast more as drama. He ended up just kind of being all around very boring though. I will say that he did at times prove that he had some potential so maybe he was a more serious competitor? IDK what was going on with him but eitehr was he was definately a dud of a casting choice for sure.
- Joseph: Again, I think he was drama casting. He wasn't supposed to make it this far, he was supposed to be one of the first few eliminated. Yet was able to coast to this point.
- Lindsey: Definately early boot casting. Was 100% there to provide drama and be overly cocky and promptly go home quickly. Yet because so many of the designers they had high hopes for flopped she was able to coast to the second half of the competition.
- Lauri: The wholesome "older" woman/mom designer who's a sweet person but has a VERY limited design aesthetic (in her case wedding dresses). They always are gone within the first few eliminations. However, because things went all wrong this season she ended up being in the talk of one of the best designers of the season.
- Swapnil (Saisha): Tim just couldn't bare to see all the designers they were so hopeful about continue to flop and they really were their last hope. Not sure how much of it was laziness on his part or just the way PR worked not working for him but even though his designs on the show were pretty good his final collection and other work show he was capable of SO MUCH more. Than at the end he jsut completely gave up.
- Merline: I think they were kind of mixed on her going into the season in that they found her distinctive aesthetic really interesting but weren't sure how she'd fare on the show. She was very hit/miss overall on the show as expected. Probably in most seasons she would have gone home more in the middle because of how extreme some of her misses were. But because its season 14 it took her to the end of the show.
- Candice: I think they were intrigued by her. I don't think they thought she would be a slam dunk in the hole like others they cast who they were sure would be (Duncan, Gabrielle, Swapnil). She was a long shot for the win but there was a chance she'd take it all, if nothing more she'd deliver some itneresting clothes. Unfortunately she seemed to just create the same dress over and over again.
- Edmond: I think the fact they waited so long to put him on the show means they thought he could be a possible winner candidate rather than just somebody cast and is an early boot. I think they thought he'd do beter than he did but he was fine.
- Kelly: One of the few shining moments of the show. I think similar to Candice, they liked her aesthetic and thought if nothing else she'd deliver some interesting clothes with a unique point of view. Her winning was more of a long shot but not out of the question. She went above and beyond expectations though. Except her final collection which sadly flopped.
- Ashley: Unpopular opinion but I don't think she was intended to win the season at all from the get-go like others seem to think. I feel like she was a very niche designer (the whole plus-sized thing) where it would be like "that's a nice thought/I appreciate there are people designing like this" and than promptly be an early to mid boot. I think the reason she made it so far was the number of people completely flopping around her and it allowed her to coast to the end. I do think though the reason she won was because the judges were basically like "well all 4 flopped on their final collections, lets give it to the one who designed for plus-sized women, at least maybe than it will give us good media attention." Them giving Ashley the win though I think was definately last resort and moreso trying to find the positive in a very bad situation though.
PR isn't a show that has plus-sized designs for the main challenges so she'd have no opportunity to even show what she can do as a plus-sized designer. Again, I think she was just cast as a feel-good, nice person with a heartwarming design aesthetic, not to be the winner of the show.

So basically to sort the designers:
- High hopes foreal winner candidates: Duncan, Gabrielle, Swapnil
- Interested in them/long shot winner candidates: Candice, David, Kelly, Edmond
Han Miao, Amanda, and Merline I think were kind of cast for this category as well but I think more likely than not they weren't really viewed as winner candidates pre-season. So maybe VERY VERY long shot winner candidates but at least what they'd show would be interesting.
- Fodder: Lindsey, Ashley, Blake, Joseph, Lauri
Jake I'm not really sure what they were expecting pre-season. He was grouped under the designers who were there for "drama" in Road to the Runway, along with Joseph and Blake. So possibly he was there for drama? I'm not really sure.
For what its worth, this casting formula has worked I'd say in pretty much every other season. Season 14 was just kind of a clusterfuck where all plans went awry

Look at the surrounding seasons (season 12, 15, 16, 13, etc.) and pretty much the elimination order I think happened pretty much identically to what they were planning pre-season
I will also say that in most cases they even will continue to keep around the person they have high hopes for even if they continue to do poorly in challenges (like Char and Alexander in 13). Its not that the people they had high hopes for this season were just underwhleming in their designs, they completely gave up so really they had no choice but to eliminate them.

2023.03.26 20:32 RaphJag Looking for advice as a newcomer

Hi! I'm completely new to the scene, and I really don't understand much of anything as these are honestly going to be the first real headphones I would be buying so I was hoping to get advice and understand more about this community and make the right choice with my purchase
Budget - ~$1000 but if anyone has any more affordable options Id love to hear those too
Source/Amp - PC and phone
How the gear will be used - mostly at home when gaming, or in public to listen to music as a uni student to study in the library.
Not a fan of FPS games, mostly play games like Terraria, Stardew Valley, Maplestory, and random obscure indie games. The most competitive game, that I play in relation to the E-sports scene is League of Legends
Preferred music genres - Ballads, R&B/Soul, and Blues, so they're usually slower in tempo.
As an aside: I love to be fashionable and am also hoping to use headphones as an accessory with outfits. Is it better to buy one for purely aesthetics and then another for gaming usage?

2023.03.26 16:23 PassTheCranberrySaws style concious streamers: any outfit/hair wisdom to share?

I like to dress up but my neurodivergent brain hates wearing certain pretty tops for too long. Also I tend to pull out braids and up-dos on autopilot. Looking for some simple more comfortable ideas that still make me pop visually.
Its obviously not important to the content, I just really love to see the aesthetics of the vods on the days I've nailed outfit and hair.
Thinking that contrasts are nice to think of, to stand out from your background and surroundings, also just following the general lines of what fits my body type/skin tone etc.
Any wisdom for me about what looks and feels good ? Or just about anything style related?

2023.03.25 19:41 Mystech_Master What design motifs do you usually use for Ruby and Yang outfit (re)designs?

I like to look at redesigns people make for characters across media and RWBY is one of them.
Usually, characters have a specific style that people adhere to. Weiss has her sort of noblewoman/mage style, Blake is usually given a ninja/rogue theme, but what about Ruby and Yang?
I know Ruby usually has her cloak, and Yang usually gets a biker or cowboy/girl theme in some designs that I've seen, but what else?
What theme/motif/aesthetic do you usually give to/imagine for outfit designs/redesigns for Ruby and Yang, and maybe the other members of RWBY?

2023.03.25 16:12 maximusaemilius Alien crewmates experience their first "Halloween" on a human ship.

Krill awoke, well not really awoke because Vrul don't sleep, but more like drifted out of a daydream, completely unsuspecting.
Then again, when it came to humans, he was almost always completely unsuspecting.
Krill generally took his hiatus in the in the medical bay, since he spent so much time there. There was, however, one drawback to this...
He woke to the sight of Conn, the starborn, floating suspended in a corner of the room.
His large black eyes were wide and unseeing, his large, round mouth was parted revealing the sharp interior vortex of teeth. He saw nothing, and he responded to nothing. It had been months since the event at the prison, and still, the starborn remained comatose. Internal cranial scans had not shown anything definitive. Starborn were difficult to read when compared to humans, but still it was frustrating they could find nothing.
Overall else, commander Vir blamed himself, Conn had saved his life before falling into a coma, and the man seemed to think it was partially him to blame, Krill couldn't have disagreed more, but there was no arguing with the man.
It was rather early, and the medical bay was empty, the lights above had been dimmed to mirror solar cycles and allow for the proper function of the human circadian rhythm. The biggest protest Krill had against this practice was it made everything dark and kind of creepy, especially when you had a brain dead starborn floating in the corner. He shuttered internally and turned away from the corner, quickly making his way from the room and into the dark hall.
Admittedly it wasn't much better out here. While the medical bay had a comatose starborn, the outside hallways were covered in an exposed layer of pipe, and without the reflective white surface of the hospital interior, the hallways were much darker.
Due to safety concerns, the hallways were lit by a single light every twenty feet, but that was seriously no help. He swallowed his concern beating it back with logic and made his way down the hall. The commander would be awake soon, and Krill had a few concerns he wanted to bring before the man.
He was passing a T-intersection on his way to the bridge, when an echoing clatter reached him from down the hall. He turned peering into the darkness, his night vision was relatively poor, so he saw nothing, but switching over to his thermal vision, he could see the faint figure of a human standing in the hallway.
It was a rather hunched person, but other than its heat signature, he couldn't see anything else.
He switched back to his regular vision,
*"Hello?"
He called into the darkness.
Another soft clattering, and a figure appeared from the black, stepping into the penumbra of light right at the edge of darkness and visible light.
Krill blinked in confusion.
It was a woman, or at least he thought it was. She had her face concealed by ragged drapes of long black hair; her head tilted down towards the floor. Her shoulders were hunched, and her hands were held down to the side. She wore only a long white t-shirt, or perhaps a night dress. Krill might have mistaken it as a hospital gown.
Seemed odd, usually the crew were at least somewhat dressed and presentable?
Perhaps they were sleepwalking, humans did that sometimes,
"Hello?"
Krill called again. He took a step forward, and before he knew what was happening, she was crawling across the floor, limbs contorted, feet scrabbling.
Krill let off a high-pitched squeal, turned and ran even as her scuttling followed after him, a horrible brushing slapping noise as her hands came in contact with the metal.
She was so close he could hear her breath.
He shrieked again, and somewhere along the hall a door opened.
A large blue head appeared form the doorway, blearily blinking,
"Krill what… HOLY SHIT!"
Sunny froze when she turned to look, eyes growing wide, then grabbing Krill up in one arm, she crouched into a fighting stance head lowered.
The 'thing' pulled up short, and then sat back on its heels. Dark hair parted about a grotesque face grey and cold, with dark black about the eyes and a horrid blackness about the lips,
"That is really hard on the shoulders, by the way."
Sunny and Krill stared at the creature in surprise, as the woman got to her feet dusting off her hands and knees throwing her dark hair over her shoulder. She giggled,
"You should have seen your face."
"Damn Cortney, that was just mean."
”Yeah, scaring Krill, that’s pretty cheap…I wish I thought of that.”
Krill and Sunny turned again to find the commander standing at the end of the hall, followed by a posse of other humans, and all of them were...
Well, they were dressed very strangely.
The commander himself was wearing a maroon button up shirt, tucked into tan pants and a brown leather gunbelt and boots. Over that he wore a brown leather jacket that reached almost to the floor. Most surprisingly, he had replaced his eyepatch with a prosthetic eye.
Sunny cocked her head, in confusion,
"What is this all about?"
"Hold on, Krill though, that's low hanging fruit."
The woman shrugged,
"He was the only one I knew who I could scare and not get stomped, besides."
She grinned,
"He squeals like a child."
"Captain, we're wasting time!”
One of the bridge crew had stepped up to the commander's side. He was wearing a strange blue long sleeve shirt with a small golden emblem on it, black pants as well... And well his ears seemed rather pointier than they should have been.
"And you are absolutely right!"
He motioned the group behind him forward,
"Come on wouldn't want to miss anything."
Sunny and Krill stood by in confusion as the humans walked past in the wake of the captain.
Behind him, a bearded man in tan robes and a brown cloak followed by another in a strange black suit of armor with some serious breathing issues, and then a bunch of white armored men after that.
In stark contrast to that, a few people came by in very dated clothing, the women with large skirts, and the men with fancy tipped canes.
Sunny found one of the costumes quite unsettling, a human painted with a white face, but bright red lips and nose, with a shock of orange hair and a very strange lacy costume. When he smiled at her, it made her shiver.
After that, a human in a long black and red cape, dark hair slicked back. He smiled at them, and two of his teeth were far longer than they should have been. Sunny could tell by the way Krill cringed, that he wasn't particularly pleased with this.
They continued to parade past in a column, strange armor, stranger clothing. Sunny recognized some of them from the multitudinous number of movies they had watched on the crew movie nights, and even more from the countless movies Vir had made her watch.
A woman in green full plate armor with purple eyes clanked her way past, accompanied by one of the engineers in a red robe with multiple metal arms on his back and Ramirez, who was not wearing a shirt, while he held a weird sword with teeth and was painted by lots of red circles with weird arrows in them.
Behind them followed a man wearing a black suit, dark hair reaching to his shoulders. He had a very closely cropped dark beard, and under one arm he held a stuffed beagle... he was talking to another suit wearing man with a red flower on his chest, holding a stuffed cat telling him about offers he couldn’t say no to.
Whatever that was about?
After they had gone past, Sunny and Krill tagged onto the end of the line, following the group of humans.
They entered into the rec room, but not before another robed figure (accompanied by a small human with big feet, wearing a ring on a chain around his neck) with a big beard told them where they were not allowed to enter, and aranged themselves comfortably.
Commander Vir motioned them closer,
"Come on you two, don't' think I didn't forget about you."
Sunny was a bit confused when he handed her a very strange looking weapon, shaped sort of like a teardrop, but with two prongs. When she pressed a button near the handle, the entire thing lit up with analogue blue electricity.
Another human wearing a helmet with a golden visor and clad in green full body armor exclaimed:
”Aww fucking sweet, I love it! Look Sunny we are a costume pair now!”
Kril got some sort of black covering with a red hourglass shape on the back.
"What is this?"
Krill demanded, the commander grinned and opened his arms wide,
"This my friend is october 31st, Halloween."
"A hallow whats-this?"
"No Halloween. Probably about the greatest holiday ever."
"Like christmas?"
Krill wondered.
"Exactly like christmas. A pagan holiday evolved overtime for commercialization to squeeze every drop of income out of the general populace, and absolutely the best."
Krill and Sunny looked back and forth between each other in confusion.
"What does that have to do with the costumes?"
"Well originally I think it had to do something with wearing masks so a demon couldn't see your real face or something, but now you just dress up as whatever is cool, and then the kids go around asking people for candy. For adults it's an excuse to get drunk, eat their kids’ candy, and watch a scary movie marathon."
Sunny crossed her arms,
"And which one of those will we be doing now?"
”YES!”
”What?”
The commander grinned at her,
"Well, now that we are dressed up, we will be doing a scary movie marathon, eating candy, and then later we are going to party and get drunk... Within reason."
Oh great, this was going to be a disaster. Humans always thought alcohol was a good idea... It never was.
More humans entered.
The first one was wearing brown pants and a blue white shirt. He brought a suitcase, which upon him opening it contained boxes of chocolate.
Following him was a group of humans clad in black, who despite the low lights, were wearing sunglasses. The one with the darker skin color was handing out blue and red sweets.
The last one entering was Doctor Katie, wearing a pretty revealing white outfit. With her orange colored hair and showing everyone her ID card, she stood out quite a bit.
The commander took a seat on one of the couches and then patted the cushions next to him,
"See, I reserved seats for the three of us... oh, just one warning though, I am a total pansy when it comes to scary movies. I will scream, no question about it."
"Then... Why are we doing it?"
Sunny wondered.
"Because it's halloween, the entire point is to be scared at least some point during the day."
[…]
He was very much not kidding.
He did scream, a lot, and he had a habit of grabbing Sunny rather violently when anything jumped out at them.
Sunny personally didn't see the big deal, there wasn't any monster for real, and even if there was, she had a couple of ideas on how to get rid of them, and most of them involved a sharp stick of some sort, or a grenade.
It also didn't help that the humans were always stupid, she knew humans and she was very aware of how well their flight or fight system worked.
No human she knew would walk into a dark room after something creepy happened to them.
But these humans, they loved it, if they weren't freaking out, they were laughing at the others freaking out, and even those who were freaking out ended up laughing a few seconds later. She was sure that Krill had some paper in mind about human social bonding, or perhaps a theory about the calibration of the flight or fight system encouraged by the viewing of scary movies, but she wasn't convinced.
Watching Adam almost pee himself was rather entertaining, and out of the two of them, she liked it when he was forced to rely on her. In this case, he mostly just borrowed her as a shield, but still, it was funny.
Krill was not particularly happy with the amount of trash food consumed.
He hadn't exactly known about health science when he started, kind of assuming that humans could just eat anything they wanted, but now he knew better, and knowing better meant being annoyed at the human's poor life choices.
As for the strange costumes, it turned out that the humans had dressed themselves up as popular characters from movies, books, or history. If not a specific person, then they chose for an aesthetic. The woman in white was from a centuries old horror movie called, the ring. As for commander Vir, he described his costume as "Coming from the best underrated sci-fi television show to ever grace planet earth.
Krill didn’t understand what lamp-bugs had to do with it.
She would have placed him in a western rather than science fiction, but it seemed as if humans didn't like following the rules of their own genres.
As for Krill, he did have a couple of theories to write about. Yes, Sunny was right about the first two, and in conjunction with each other. Laughter was, mostly, a social emotion, sure humans laughed to themselves, but they did it at a much higher frequency around other humans.
Furthermore, from what he could tell, many humans didn't like to watch these sort of movies alone which concluded to him that fear was designed to be a social experience. In fact, humanity seemed to have designed a way to foster greater social bonds in people by having them experience fear together, not only that, but the human sympathetic nervous system was allowed to work in a safe environment readying itself for if something DID happen, and practicing for the eventuality.
He came to the conclusion that it was probably a good practice for the humans. It was a safe way for them to experience stress with other humans and prepare mentally for dangerous situations. For once, Krill actually approved of the behavior, it was safe, nothing dangerous about watching a movie.
As for the costumes, he had a theory about that too. Humans, and partially the Drev, were the only creatures known to design fictional events through fiction, as demonstrated by the movies. The Drev had generally used it the purpose of religion creating grand epics of fantastic warriors in order to teach their children attributes proper for a warrior. Humans would make up anything for the entertainment of it, they had an uncanny ability to imagine themselves in fantastic situations, and many spent times looking for these stories actively. Krill wondered if it was a way to practice empathy, putting yourself in the shoes of another, or if it was some sort of learning. Perhaps they gleaned information from unusual situations preparing themselves in case something was to happen.
The commander's opinion? Well, he pointed out that it was fun to be someone else for a while, someone who was braver than you, smarter than you, better looking than you, or maybe had a more interesting life then you. It gave you an excuse to act in ways you wouldn't normally do, and allowed others to accept your actions as, not you, but of another person.
Humanity desired nothing more than adventure, and perhaps... That's why they went to space before bothering to find out what was in the depths of their own ocean.

FYI, this is a story COLLECTION. Lots of standalones technically. So, you can basically start to read at any chapter, no pre-read of the other chapters needed technically (other than maybe getting better descriptions of characters than: Adam Vir=human, Krill=antlike alien, Sunny=tall alien, Conn=telepathic alien). The numbers are (mostly) only for organization of posts and continuity.

Thanks for reading! As you saw in the title, this is a cross posted story written by starrfallknightrise and I'll just upload some of it here for you guys, if you are interested and want to read ahead, the original story-collection can be found on tumblr or wattpad to read for free. (link above this text under "OC:..." ) It is the Empyrean Iris story collection by starfallknightrise. Also, if you want to know more about the story collection i made an intro post about it, so feel free to check that out to see what other great characters to look forward to! (Link also above this text). I have no affiliations to the author; just thought I’d share some of the great stories you might enjoy a lot!
Obviously, I have Charlie’s permission to post this and for the people already knowing the stories, or starting to read them: If you follow the link and check out the story you will see some differences. I made some small (non-artistic) changes, mainly correcting writing mistakes, pronoun correction and some small additional info here and there of things which were not thought of/forgotten or even were added/changed in later stories (like the “USS->UNSC” prefix of Stabby, Chalar=/->Sunny etc). As well as some "biggemajor" changes in descriptions and info’s for the same stringency/continuity reason. That can be explained by the story collection being, well a story collection at the start with many standalone-stories just starring the same people, but later on it gets more to a stringent storyline with backstories and throwbacks. (For example Adam Vir has some HEAVY scars over his body, following his bones, which were not really talked about up till half the collection, where it says it covers his whole body and you find out via backflash that he had them the whole time and how he got them, they just weren't mentioned before. However, I would think a doctor would at least see these scars before that, especially since he gets analyzed, treated and goes shirtless/in T-shirts in some stories). So TLDR: Writing and some descriptions are slightly changed, with full OK from the author, since he himself did not bother to correct these things before.

2023.03.25 10:42 ST4RCR4SH What is your partner/best friends’ quadrant and archetypes?

I believe I’m the exact opposite of my BF. I’m LU and he’s probably RD. I have strong reasons to believe he’s an Explorer. He has a very consistent outfit formula. He does have a “base camp” that’s reliable for him. Occasionally, I see him mixing his usual outfits with something different. The reason he chooses his outfits is out of practicality. He doesn’t have a deliberate thought process, but rather an intuitive one.
Interestingly, his style is more ‘up’ in comparison to people around him. This example goes to show that you can’t judge style logic by aesthetics itself. On a surface level, he would be put into the Right Up Quadrant. But the thing is, the perceived upness of his outfits is more of a byproduct of his main intentions. My outfits are formal, but the effect is a product of a strong deliberate intention.
On my best friend, I haven’t asked them to elaborate on the style logic yet. If I have to take a guess, it would be either an LD or LU.
