2023.03.29 09:43 JG-at-Prime Why does FINERA have a 1.6 Billion Dollar Investment Portfolio?
This post relates to GME because this is a part of our market that requires more reform than we previously anticipated. TLDR: FINRA has access to what in any other organization would be considered massive amounts of insider information. It also has a massive conflict of interest in the form of a
1.6 Billion dollar investment portfolio. The portfolio of the Self Regulatory Agency is largely unknown and is largely (if not completely) unmonitored by any other regulatory agency(s). I would be really, really curious to know
how much of that portfolio is short? In addition to massive conflicts of interest and minimal supervision from the SEC, FINERA does not appear to be directly accountable to Congress, rather than direct accountability FINRA instead invests a lot of money in lobbying. In 2012, it spent $960,000 as it pushed for legislation that would allow it to expand its regulatory reach to include RIAs, who are now primarily regulated by the SEC.
FINERA should have no ability to halt any stocks or securities while it is invested in the very markets it purports to regulate. https://www.mercatus.org/media/46396/download ”LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY” ”By law, the SEC is in charge of Finra and has the power to approve or reject any rules Finra wants to adopt. 2023.03.29 09:29 mohavewolfpup 12/3 cord for a shed?
Have a shed i'd like to use a outside outlet i've got not really doing anything, but the problem is it's around 125 feet away.
Longest cord I can find is 100 feet, would using a 100 foot 12/3 extension cord and then a 25 foot 12/3 extension cord plugged into that cause any issues?.
Will primarily just have a LED light in the shed, a computer that draws around 2 amps if memory serves me right, a 5.7 amp AC unit (Probably at the highest setting? Do know the sticker says 5.7 amps definitely) Monitor for the pc (not sure the amps on that, it's a modern one) a couple 10w and 12w apple tablet adapters (12w says input 0.5a and output 2.4a if that helps).
Maybe a small 24' or 32' tv if i'm feeling real fancy some days.
Think 125 foot 12/3 would be fine chained together (or 10/3 might be better?) 14/3 seems there isn't much of a margin, so that's why I was looking at 12/3 but may need 10/3 to have a better margin?
edit: Basically trying to help with the voltage drop, hence why I was looking at 12/3 as a decent budget option if 10/3 would be too overkill. Going into a 15 or 20 amp socket (will look at the breaker panel to see what's feeding it)

2023.03.29 00:04 Allen_Poe [USA-NV][H] Xbox Series X (sealed), EVGA RTX 3090ti FTW3 Ultra, Canon EOS 250D DSLR camera/lenses, Logitech G512 Mechanical Keyboard, Thrustmaster eSwap S controller, Shure KSM27 condenser mic, Art Tube PAC mic pre-amp/compressor, NZXT H710i, +mic/headset/fan/race wheel/drawing tablet [W] Local Cash
Spring cleaning time. Located in Las Vegas, looking for
local cash only, no trades and no shipping (please don't ask me to ship, no I won't reconsider, it's not worth the hassle for me). Happy to answer any questions you may have about any of these items. Comment before PM, no chat.
- Xbox Series X console (brand new/still sealed) (timestamp): $485 Never opened, selling below MSRP (runs you about $540 after taxes).
- EVGA RTX 3090ti FTW3 Ultra (timestamp): $975 Like new condition, still have box and all original hardware.
- Canon EOS 250D DSLR camera (timestamp): $400 Very good condition, comes with box, instructions, kit lens, battery & charger. I have a handful of misc. accessories that you can have as well (tbh the accessories suck to me, but someone else may find use for them).
- Canon EF-S 24MM 1.2.8 STM lens (timestamp): $75 Great condition, comes in box and has box caps.
- Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens (timestamp): $60 Great condition, comes in box and has box caps.
- Logitech G512 Carbon Mechanical Keyboard (timestamp): $60 Blue switches. Like new, pristine condition.
- Shure KSM27 condenser microphone (timestamp): $150 Despite it's age (used to record a couple albums worth of material in the mid-2000s), is still in great condition. Note: one of the anchors on the shock mount has broken off (see timestamp).
- Art Tube PAC microphone pre-amp and compressor (timestamp): $50 Despite it's age (used to record a couple albums worth of material in the mid-2000s), is still in pretty good condition.
- HyperX SoloCast USB condenser microphone (timestamp): $30 Great condition, only used a handful of times.
- HyperX Cloud Core headset (timestamp): $20 Great condition, only used twice.
- Scythe Kaze Flex 140mm RGB case fan (timestamp): $10 Very Good condition.
- NZXT H710 case (timestamp): $30 Overall decent condition, with a couple blemishes here and there, this one major exception: the back panel is broken. The top locking tab(s) is missing, and the bottom tabs may or may not be misaligned. Clear panel is solid, and comes with all hardware.
- Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Spider Racing Wheel for Xbox One/Series SX/PC (timestamp): $25 Used but decent condition. No box, but comes with instructions.
Also have some older items from a previous post that never sold (timestamps reflect older post, but items have not been used since time of original posting. Apologies if not allowed).
- Wacom Cintiq 22 Drawing Tablet (timestamp): $750 Bought this from a local auction, and by the time I realized digital drawing just isn't for me, it was too late to return it. In like new condition, outside of one tiny knick at the edge of the bezel (circled in the timestamps).
- Gaomon PD1560 Drawing Tablet (timestamp): $125 Bought this from another redditor a couple years back. A couple of the side menu buttons don't seem to work, but the face buttons are all functional. Has a slight bit of parallax, but from my understanding nothing unusual for tablets in this price range. Has extra set of HDMI/USB/Power cords.
- 3x Corsair AF120 fans (timestamp): $10 Basically priced for 2 fans, one of the fans occasionally makes a bit of noise, the other two are fine. I'm not sure which one is faulty, so you can have all 3. Blue LEDs in each.
- Deepcool Dukase Case (timestamp): $25 I ended up growing to hate this case. Nothing functionally wrong it, it's just... ugh. The original acrylic panel is spotty and blemished, so I ended up getting a clear acrylic sheet from Lowe's and attached it via magnets at the edges of the case (both pictures and both included). Some screws may be missing. Comes with 2 Deepcool case fans, don't remember if they are white or blue LEDs (probably blue).
- Persona 5 Steelbook Edition (PS4) (timestamp): $30 A dent or two in the plastic sleeve, but the steelbook and disc itself are basically flawless.

2023.03.28 21:14 Magoatt Mike Cases with Updates
Amber Tuccaro:
While this is a small update Amber Tuccaro’s family recently reached out to the public for information. During the conference held by the family they called out the RCMP for racism and said that they are a huge reason as to why this case is unsolved. As for new info a 161 page report about Amber Tuccaro’s disappearance will be released in the future which shows that the family are keeping this case alive.

This is another small update in the Jodi Huisentruit case. A reward in the case of 25,000 is being offered in exchange for the location of Jodi’s body, or information that leads to the arrest of Jody’s kidnappers and killers. A licensed private investigator Steve Ridge offered the reward as a private citizen to try and help further the case. Steve got the blessing of Jodi’s sister JoAnn Nathe in order to offer the reward money. Ridge has been investigating the case for 3 years and suspects that multiple people know of what happened to Jodi. Even though this isn’t an update with new information it shows the case is being kept active nearly 28 years later.
The common theory is that Jodi is dead having been declared dead in 2001. The mother of Jodi, Jane Huisentruit said back in 2005 she suspects her daughters remains are at the bottom of a lake near her home. The cousin of Jodi, Mary Lee Moberg, suspects that a man stalked her. The main suspect in this case is John Vansice who is also the last person to see Jodi alive.

This is another small update in the case, two men were arrested in Dec of 2021 by investigators on Andrew’s case. They were arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and human trafficking. Over a year later after the arrests the police have confirmed that both men are still being investigated. The devices found are still being examined as police continue the investigation. This shows that the police are keeping Andrew’s case alive and hopefully they find evidence soon so the family can have some closure.

Another minor update in Claudia Lawrence’s case, her mother Joan is calling for police to reinvestigate former taxi driver and serial killer Christopher Halliwel. She wants police to reinvestigate due to several witnesses saying describing a suspect in Claudia’s case as having “piercing blue eyes” which she says is possibly Halliwel. She further linked it due to Halliwel have also abducted Sian O’Callaghan on March 19th 2011, Claudia was abducted March 19th 2008. Joan suspects that Halliwel had a break up with one of his girlfriends on the 19th of March and that Halliwel is connected to Claudia’s abduction and murder.
Joan has also asked to see items linked to Halliwel which were found in a lake located in Ramsbury in 2014. The hopes for Joan is that if given access to the items she could identify something belonging to her daughter Claudia which would confirm Halliwel as the killer of Claudia.
Despite this police are investigating the case as Claudia having been abducted by someone she knew. In 2019 police sources revealed to the media that Claudia’s phone was on 4 hours after she vanished before cutting off 2 hours following her boss calling her from work at exactly 12:10 PM. It was revealed the pings were coming from a mast near York University where was working. This shows the phone never left the area. To police as previously stated they still suspect she was abducted by someone she knew. Tragically since Claudia’s disappearance her father Peter Lawrence passed away in 2021 at the age of 74 never having closure.

A small update in the Annecy shootings as the judge overlooking the case have asked investigators to be focused on the weapon used in the crimes. The judge Sabine Khéris asked police in 2022 to pay attention when trying to finding traces of the crime scene weapon. The investigation hasn’t had many leads since the initial jump when the police arrived at the scene, over a decade later still with no answers the main way this case can be solved is the weapon used, a Luger P06/29. According to police there are an estimated 6,000 possible matches which gives some hope a suspect can be found.

A small update in one of the Bardstown murders this one being of police officer Jason Ellis. Take this with a grain of salt as the information given does not seem very credible. An anonymous inmate serving time in prison was interviewed during a documentary for Crystal Rodgers disappearance. The inmate spoke with both a reporter named Stephanie Bauer and a retired homicide detective named Dwayne Stanton. The inmate claimed to know about the murder of 33-year-old Bardstown Police Officer Jason Ellis. Ellis while on his way home was ambushed and shot several times with a 12-gauge shotgun right off the highway.
The inmate was quoted as saying the that Ellis was shot because "he was close to an investigation of a ring of storage shed burglaries and business burglaries." The inmate claimed that, the burglarized storage units contained high-end antiques and drugs. The inmate was quoted as saying "at least four" men were hired by an unidentified person to carry out Ellis' murder.
The inmate did not disclose how he knew them. This drew suspicion as to why the information had not come out before, the inmate explained to Bauer that the men involved were "eliminate[d]" and someone had "tie[d] up loose ends" to keep the investigation quiet.
Bauer later asked Jason Ellis’s family who was unable to confirm any the inmates claims making this seem false but they did believe multiple people ambushed Jason on the highway rather than just one.

2023.03.28 19:40 fresnel42 Porting Over from AT&T was harder than it shoulda been
Consumer Cellular has great pricing. The customer service reps are all friendly, domestically based, and easy to understand. Free calling to Canada and Mexico. Sadly, that's where the good stuff ends.
- The reps are not technically literate; they lack sufficient training and their "system" does not provide full or accurate info for them to do the job the customer expects of them.
- You'll rarely get the same answer twice from two different reps.
- Customer service is not 24/7; it's 13 hours a day on weekdays, and 11 on weekends.
- When inquiring about new service, call wait times usually last only a few seconds. However, once you have an account, wait times on calls to customer service are more like 20 minutes or worse, due to the ubiquitous "Sorry - we are experiencing unusually high call volume...blah blah blah."
- On new service, try making a call to Canada or Mexico, and you get a recording, "Sorry - this line is not yet set-up for international dialing. Please call customer service (and try THAT at 9:15 PM EDT on a Friday...).
- The reps don't always listen well. I told one I wanted both lines ported over to eSIMS. After a lotta info exchange, the rep said, "All set with line#1; we're shipping a SIM card." I reminded him that, no, I want to land the phone numbers onto eSIMs. When done with line #2, same comical error. We got both lines moved to eSIMS, and unbelievably, three days later I received in the mail from CC a SIM card. Sigh...
I'd been with AT&T (or some iteration of them) for 30 years. For unlimited talk, text, and data I was paying AT&T $140/month. Last month I got an email from CC promoting the same kinda service for $55/month plus tax -- so, about $60/month. Still sweet.
I made two calls to AT&T and even visited a nearby AT&T store to ask, "What am I getting from AT&T for this extra $80 a month that I won't be getting from CC if I switch?" AT&T phone reps had nothing. After carefully scrutinizing both plans, the fellow at the store offered, "Well, CC might throttle your speed if you exceed 50 GB of data in billing cycle." He neglected to note that AT&T's fine print says exactly the same. And, FWIW, my data needs are far below that anyway.
So, I made the move. Since CC uses AT&T towers and infrastructure, no perceived difference in call quality or coverage. But, the process of making the move -- porting (migrating) those two lines over -- was torturous.
Since my AT&T billing cycle would re-start on Sunday 3/12, I started the process at noon on Friday 3/10, thinking that would be sufficient. How naïve. Over a period of three days it required 13 hours on 12 different calls (two to AT&T). And I attribute blame for the torture to both of 'em.
Porting involves multiple steps. Note that the first three bullet points below can also be skipped by, from your AT&T phone you wanna port over, simply dialing *7678 and entering your 4 digit security PIN):
- You reach out to your old carrier and get a Line Transfer Code. You'll need your account number, your security code, and the IMEI number of your phone (that's the landing spot where your phone number "lands").
- The old carrier will verify that you are you, that the phone is indeed on their service, and that it is either unlocked (that's how I buy my phones) or that you've paid-off the phone over time with them, and that you are not locked-in to a long-term contract.
- The old carrier will then give you a Line Transfer code (AT&T's are six digits).
- You call your new carrier and give them the Line Transfer Code.
- Your new carrier's porting department reaches out to your old carrier's porting department to say, "Hey - here's the code your customer provided us. Is it legit? If so, please that phone number so we can assign it on our service."
However, the CC reps I spoke with did not know that when porting over multiple lines from a single AT&T account, only a single six-digit Line Transfer Code is required (I found that info deep in AT&T's website only
after the whole process was completed; I do not know the details for porting for porting multiple lines out of Verizon, T-Mobile, or other carriers). The CC rep insisted that I get a second Line Transfer Code for my phone #2; after a lotta back-and-forth with AT&T I acquired one (AT&T also shoulda known better), I provided it to CC, and chaos ensued.
Without notifying me, and before porting Line #2 over, AT&T cancelled my account. This was bad, especially since you can't port a line out unless the account is active. Once I got everyone on the same page, rather than re-activating my old account, AT&T created a new account in my name (without telling or asking me) and assigned line #2 to it. A full 36 hours after I got line #2 ported over to CC.
I'm fortunate to be sufficiently technologically capable, but, wow. The process is not for the faint of heart.
I'm glad to be saving $80 a month, and I think I'm okay with not-24/7 customer service and standard wait-times on call to customer service. But I sure wish CC would invest more in (1) training their reps and (2) in improving the resources available to reps to eliminate such noise in the processes.
Footnote:
There’s a popular scam known as a “SIM swapping." Service providers are working to prevent this, and it's likely the main reason they make it so difficult to access an account or to make changes; for that we really should be thankful. This is how one version of SIM swapping goes: The bad guy finds your name and mobile number and more on the web (dark or otherwise...it’s all out there), calls your service provider, claims to be you, insists the mobile phone was accidentally destroyed which is why they are unable to dial-in or access the account from the mobile phone, and convinces the service provider’s naïve, young, untrained minimum wage worker to authorize shipping to them a new SIM card at a location where they are “on vacation.” When they receive it, they drop the SIM card into a burner phone, and armed with all your personal info they buy tanks of gas, tons of gift cards, and they gut your bank account. It's for this reason it’s always better to set-up your recurring payments with a credit card – not a debit card or a checking account. At least a decent credit card provider will monitor for fraud and stop it before it gets out of hand, and provide you some recourse if some fraudulent transactions do get through. As Cat Stevens sang,
“...just remember there’s a lot of bad – and beware.” submitted by

2023.03.28 19:00 isaiiah Windows Driver-Only Updates Through Intune
Hello,
We are currently using SCCM to deploy software updates (and drivers via Dell Third Party Catalog), but I want to move the driver portion of this to Intune to see if we can get a better experience. I am trying to create a Driver-only update ring and deploy it to our test group. Does this current configuration seem to do that?
If not, what changes can I make?
Thank you!
