2023.03.29 08:22 chocodad46 2017 A4 - low speed rumble/vibration

I got a 2017 A4 a few weeks ago (which has been mostly great so far). However, shortly after I got it I started to notice a rumble/vibration at low speeds, when turning a decent amount. This is especially apparent when on a slight incline it seems, such as when backing up in my driveway (low speed, slight incline, sharper turns). I am wondering if this is something to be more concerned about, or if it’s just me being over-sensitive.
Additionally, I tried to reproduce it in a parking lot earlier today, and couldn’t get the same sound I get when pulling out of my driveway - maybe it’s something to do with sitting overnight?
Also, the tires are nearly worn out and I’ll be getting new ones soon. Could this impact what I’m hearing as well?

2023.03.29 08:20 drillbitpdx Border Patrol detained me for about 10 minutes in Peace Arch Park

I parked on the street in Blaine, Washington, and walked into Peace Arch State Park.
I walked past a giant scary-looking Border Patrol truck, with three agents standing around bantering loudly. They ignored me.
Walked around for maybe 20 minutes, took a couple photos, read some historical signs, didn't cross the line into Canada. Then I was walking through the parking lot and stopped to read the sign about being required to check in at the Port of Entry if crossing the border. I was standing precisely 49.000854,-122.753228. (Again, I wasn't crossing the border 🤷🏻‍♂️)
Two of the BP officers called out to me to stop, which I did. They came over and started demanding ID, information about where I was coming from, etc.
We had a good little standoff for about 10 minutes where I explained that I had entered on foot from The US half an hour prior, declined to provide them with identifying information about myself, and repeatedly asked if I was free to go. They told me no, unsurprisingly.
Eventually I relented and showed them some ID, which they glanced at for 2 seconds and let me go.
Quite an unnerving and unpleasant experience. I can't imagine how much worse it might have been if I didn't have US ID right on me.
Has this happened to others there?

2023.03.29 08:20 souxs Shaking of car and steeringwheel when driving above 80km/h

Hey there,
I recentrly bought a automatic opel corsa from 2019 with 21.000km driven. When buying the car the garage told me the car had suffered small parking damage, which at first didnt bother me. Now after a short drive of roughly 20km i noticed that my steer and the car it self vibrate and shake at higher speeds. Furthermore when letting go of the wheel the car eitherpulls to the left or right slighly. These things in combination with smoke coming from the radiator area after the drive got me worried that the small parking damage might be more then just small. What would you guys advice i do? The garage tells me they just simple have to realign the car and the shaking is fixed. And they would also repair the radiator. Is this true or is the risk of more severe damage present?

2023.03.29 08:19 ADHDreamboat It's one thing for me to tell my life story to strangers, but...

But my ( 28f) husband (33 m) telling my life story to strangers is just fucking infuriating.
Tldr: Husband tells really personal shit about my life casually to a complete stranger
We are in a parking lot of a popular store local to us, notice a neighbor of ours that we have never met outside of waving hi when we go to take the trash out or get the mail, get into a casual conversation and my husband just starts blabbing seriously personal information to what is basically a complete stranger to us.
My estrangement to my family, their history of addiction, the complications of my ethnicity ( I look white because my mom's white but I was raised by a family member who is mixed) just a bunch of shit that takes way too long to explain so while I'm trying to tip toe around this stuff in a casual and non personal way my husband's just over here calling out my shit and making me out to be a liar. I feel like he does this on purpose but if I were to do the same to him he would freak the fuck out about it. I'm just really angry and confused and now my neighbor probably thinks we are weird and I want to bury my head in the dirt and dissappear forever because he doesn't know when to just shut the fuck up.
Why? Can someone explain to me why he thought this was okay? I tried to talk to him about it but all I get in response was " sorry I won't talk to anyone anymore"
Note: this isn't the first time he's done this. The last time was to my new Dr as I was setting up care and he just started blabbing off about stuff that had nothing to do with my medical history or relevant in any way. W. T F?!?!

2023.03.29 08:14 Naive_Possibility707 34M trying to make a new friend

Hello,
Here's my poor attempt to sell myself like a bad infomercial. My social circle is pretty much limited to people I work with or short conversations with customers. I live in the US on the East Coast but grew up on the West Coast. I have two high-energy dogs, an Australian shepherd mix and huskie mix. I have a 1 year old son. I do enjoy cooking and making new dishes, but I am by far the worst baker. My favorite TV show is the office, please don't say parks and rec is better. I've had many random jobs in the past, with even random stories to go along with. I'm a bit of a nerd, I have a comic collection and random Star Wars collectibles, but I'm not ashamed. I have a few tattoos that have no meaning at all, and I plan on getting more soon. My music taste is stuck in the early 2000s rock, punk, and screamo. I'm just trying to make a friend outside of work.

2023.03.29 08:12 throwaway_3202020 [PC/browser][2000's] Old Animal Jam-esque 2D Multiplayer Game

Platform(s): PC/Browser, I definitely played this on a desktop or laptop running Windows and didn't download anything.
Genre: Multiplayer Animal RPG/MMO
Estimated year of release: Late 2000s, but it's hard to say for sure
Graphics/art style: 2D, cartoonish.
Notable gameplay mechanics: It seemed to be somewhat like a Webkinz knock-off, but I distinctly remember being able to metal detect on the beach. It was multiplayer, but I don't remember many people every being on it at once. I also believe there was a mining activity, kind of like Webkinz but instead it was part of the map that you could point and click on, not a separate minigame.
Other details: It was in a similar style to Animal Jam, but less complete and detailed. It had very simple graphics, and this is random, but I think there was a tiki bar sorta thing on the beach too, lol. Unfortunately I don't remember a ton else about it. The most distinct thing to me is the metal detecting. I've been searching for this game for years- please help!
Games I know it's not: Animal Jam, Petpet Park, Webkinz, Neopets, Bearville, Furcadia.

2023.03.29 08:11 miningquestionscan How come UBC never used its land to create an industrial research park (like Stanford did in the 50s)?

I am aware of TRIUMF and the other research facilities located around Wesbrook Place, but that area is somewhat small in the grand scheme of things. Also, the work that goes on there is mainly for basic research if I am not mistaken. It's not like multibillion dollar companies are popping up there every year.
Given its largesse in land, why didn't UBC seek to emulate Stanford, or other universities that established such clusters? Yes I am aware that Stanford has a lot of land...
It seems like UBC prioritized housing development starting in the 80s.
Can anyone provide an inside scoop?

2023.03.29 08:09 BedroomOk8200 Cool Lighting Technique I Noticed

Cool Lighting Technique I Noticed
I saw the movie recently when it was available in the theater near me and I noticed that they were frequently using the lighting technique where they constantly revolve the main light source on the subject's face, changing how the face of the subject looks drastically. For reference, see the video linked.
In the movie, it was used for Michelle Yeoh's character, Evelyn, seemingly whenever they were showing montages of quick universe glimpses. It seems to me that the changing look effect that this technique had on faces was used to emphasize the different versions of Evelyn in the different universes shown.
Anyways, besides sharing it just because I thought it was cool, I wanted to know:
-is there a formal name for this technique? -has it been used before in any other popular movies?
I'm no film buff, so if it's actually a common technique that I just never noticed before, I wouldn't be surprised, but I just remember seeing this video on Youtube way back and I was just amazed to see it explicitly used here.

She is posting a 3 day notice to pay rent or deliver possession tomorrow. If it was just me, I’d live in my car. But I can’t let my children be homeless. I’m desperate here. If the $100 isn’t enough interest I’d be willing to negotiate more.

2023.03.29 08:03 burquitlam_zoo Stanford to SF night commute

Hi folks,
My wife and I are visiting SF in June and going to a concert at Frost Amphitheater (re:set). I'm on the fence whether to stay in Palo Alto for a night or just book a few nights in SF (looking around Castro/Hayes/Dolores park) and commute to the show and back. I don't plan on renting a car for this part of the trip, so it looks like the train and buses are the likely options.
I'm guessing the concert ends at 11 and Google maps says ~2 hrs commute via a train and NOWL bus. Will this suck? Am I an idiot?
Any alternatives you would consider (uber, helicopter, stay elsewhere)? I'm not sure I saw anything super interesting in Palo Alto, but if there is let me know!
TIA

2023.03.29 08:01 StarPCH 26 [M4F] Australia Looking for my forever person

Let's spend the day together. Maybe we go to the park and have a picnic, sitting by the duck pond while we feed bread to the ducks and the fish. Maybe we go to the beach where we can both sit in the sun and enjoy an ice cream, and each others company. We could wonder around the city, enjoying the sights and sounds before finally finding a place to eat, we each pick something and decide who made the better choice. Or perhaps we just stay at home, cuddling together while we watch something or play a game together. Let's just spend our time in one anothers comfort and see where it takes us?
Hello there! I am Star and I am hoping to find someone that I might be able to enjoy experiences like those above with. I hope to find someone that is both my best friend and my partner. Ideally I would be looking for someone between the ages of 20 to 30.
I am 183cm (6 foot) tall, with a slim build. Blue/green eyes and black hair that's generally on the longer side.
I am the sort of person that enjoys chatting throughout the day, I like learning about the things you may enjoy. I am an introverted person for the most part, I don't go out drinking or partying and clubbing is not something I am interested in. I do not smoke and would appreciate if you did not as well, though it isn't a complete dealbreaker for me.
Things I enjoy doing would be playing games, reading manga, watching anime or shows and spending time on youtube. I enjoy exploring new places and trying new things when I can. I have a job in the tv industry that I enjoy and keeps me active outside of my free time.
The person I am looking for should be kind and caring and share an interest in the things I have already mentioned. While I am more attracted to personality then appearance it does still play a factor, so I would appreciate seeing a picture to connect a face to who I am talking to.
If you made it this far and any of this sounds interesting to you then please send me a message! Tell me a little bit about yourself and ask any questions you wish. I look forward to chatting with you :)
